SPMAN: The time travel machine used by Dr. Who is called the Tardis. Due to a malfunction the entrance, which disguises itself as something that fits its surroundings, is stuck in the form of a British police call box or booth.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Just when we thought it was safe to venture out on the Coffee Pot, the Chief is back er was not really gone or something like that.

Laz, Happy Birthday

Buckeye, glad you were not disappointed by Penn State.  I thought it would be a closer game during the first quarter but after that, they went down the tube.

Foggy here this morning.  Weather got a lot cooler after the beautiful day we had yesterday.  Penn State probably did it.

Brutus, what is a Tardis?  Is that an airplane, a car, a pet, or a person?

Had the usual for breakfast today.  Oatmeal, whole wheat toast with low fat cream cheese and coffee.  Have to call Chief to mail me some ham, eggs and grits.  I use cream of rice sometimes.  That's almost like grits.  Had my traditional black eyed peas yesterday and made something like Hush puppies to go with it.  I got some kind of stone ground cornmeal, almost like flour and made up some corn cakes fried in a pan.  Not as good as Carolina water ground corn meal but close.

Tried to get high speed internet last week with Verizon.  To make a long story short, they failed in their attempt to install and we had to cancell.  Meantime we have lost one of two phone lines dedicated to computer use because of them.  Now we have to use the house phone line until we can get it all straightened out.  My regular phone company (AT&T) wants $65 to turn my phone line back on!  Say what!  Who's fault is this problem anyway.  The way I understand it, Verizon siezed all my phone lines prior to their attempt to instal FIOS.  They were not able to do it so they were suppose to give my phone lines back.  They gave one back but not the other.  Now each company swears the other is responsible.  Meanwhile I have no extra phone line for my computer.  What do I do now coach?  I can't find any one person to chew on.  They are all very shifty.  They refuse to give their last names when you talk to them.  They say it's company policy.  They do turn you over to a supervisor, who by the way, never calls back.  Maybe I can go to the Public Utilities commision or something like that to get an answer?  This whole deal is mind boggling.  Talking to these people is like going to a house where the lights are on but nobody's home.  Sorry for the rant.

Happy Birthday Laz.
Well, seems the SEC has done us proud.  Only loss so far has been to Ioway.
Family is at the movies watching Desparoux.  We have one case to finish up and I hope I can book out of here in the next little bit.  Wife took all decorations down except tree and trains.  I'll have to get to those if the pain is not too much.

Read a good article from WSJ written by Carl Rove.  It was on the Navy Seals and some things he learned from some of the team members at a Christmas party.  Take home message is that these guys really love their country and that we should be proud of them and be thankful for them.

Gotta run,

Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  Went to see "Bedtime Stories" last night with "saucy wench".  It was a good movie.  Short, happy ending, no one dies.  I like those.  Good crowd there last night as well.  Had to take care of some financial stuff for Lucas today.  IU never stops to figure out how to get your money.  Going to see old boss today at lunch.  I had homemade bread toasted and Cap'n Crunch for breakfast on the dining car.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Sunny Southern Ohio,

I start my long stretch of today.  I do not go back to work till next Thursday nightshift.  I hope to get all the Christmas decorations put away while I am off or it would be February before I get the next chance.  The weather looks like it will cooperate to get the outside stuff down.  The grandkids are to be soon going to watch them for a bit today, then get started.

Laz – Happy Birthday

Rich – I mailed Buckeye’s car out to you this morning.

DougM – looking forward to seeing the pictures of the layout

I’ll check back later

May God bless

Jim

Morning all.  Lets see, LAZ is 90 now. Whistling  Humm, no deer and no fish.  Just sits in his rocker and watches his trains go around the track. Happy B-Day

Kooljock, you need to sign us on each morning [as you are the first real morning person on here] as:

GOOD MORNING CTT!!!!

Now not too loud or you wake us retired guys up.  Sure is nice to know that when I do get up the coffee is ready.  Even though it is Yankee Coffee.  How about learning how to cook GRITS. Whistling

Well, get ready to go to the lake house and probably stay until Sunday PM.

Cloudy here and probably a shower or too.  Where is all the snohio?  Ohizo is getting away without Buckeye blowing snow!!!  Maybe Doug M has some.  Sir J and Kurt should be covered good.  I surely hope that rascal in Ioway gets covered.  I here Spokane has lots and getting more [do I remember my snow trip there last Jan] .  Tim [Pigseye] Mitchell should be burried.  Maybe it will move into the plains and all we will see in Ioway is TV antennas. Evil

Well, that should get things going to keep posts while I am away from internet service.

Later

Morning all. Grey and in the 20s this morn - which seems warm. Wait! Can that glowing ball be the sun? I forgot what it looks like - have to ask Don or Doug or Ray. Working from home today; spent a pleasant evening dreaming of wiring schemes for Fortner Yard. Now that the yard has been moved to the other side of the layout, Baker Field (aerodrome) was much expanded too.  Dining car is late...

Jon, please post the link to your interview!

 Morning Folks,

Lazy day yesterday.  Sat around and watched some football, read, nothing strenuous.  Still fighting the remains of a cold. Wife has started with it again.  She is so happy that I shared it with her.   Dead

Heard from our son who had a New Years Eve Bash at his apartment. It seems as though someone (his former college roommate) managed to crack the toilet. The college roommate went out and bought a new toilet.  When our son went to open the box to install it,  the floor flange was busted out.  Tried to call the HD to get them to wait for him to a make an exchange (they closed at 5:00), but they would not wait. So he went and bought another toilet at Lowe's.  It seems as though the college roommate left with the receipt, so now our son will have to wait until the college roommate sends him the receipt to exchange it.  Hope the kid paid cash so our son can get the money back, otherwise he will have to hound his former roommate to pay up.  Oh to be wild and free at 23....

Supposed to have friends over today but will probably call and cancel, no use in spreading germs around.

Happy birthday to LAZ. And prayers to all that need them.

Take care,

Mitch

Morning!  Once again it's chilly: 0 along the D&H in Plattsburgh and 5 near the Vermont Railway yards in Burlington.

We had a great day yesterday playing games with the kids: Apples to Apples and Clue!

We would have played Monopoly, but the kids know how angry I get when someones says "REEDing" instead of "Reading".

Today: getting my ears lowered.  I have a TV interview scheduled for Tuesday.  Now if only I good drop 20 before then...

OUCH.  Woke up about 30 minutes ago.  Went to buddy's wife's visitation at neighboring town's funeral home.  Was like a big reunion of all us retired workers at NC Motor Fleet Manangement and a few still there.  Good visit with buddy who is relieved.  Said he had his first night's full sleep in months as he had been up and down with wife during the nights.  He knows his wife is in better place and not hurting anymore.

Came home to baked ham, cabbage, homemade potato salad and lots of blackeyed peas [with fresh chopped onions dumped in].  With that, tried to watch TV.  Was awaken about 30 minutes ago with Lucy barking, "Dad, wakeup and go to bed."  Good night.  Off to the lake house for the weekend [through Sunday afternoon].  Lets see, that gives the racals in Columbus Ohizo and Ioway sevral days to attack.

Evening all. "Finished" major work on the layout - can't wait to show you some photos. John Deere car set out for pick-up by the Other Railway to go to Ypsilanti - by the way, Kurt, I'll call you tomorrow. Getting set to go back to work. Happy Birthday Laz! Yes, Murphy's Bleachers was an old hang-out - I used to live a few blocks from Wrigley even though I prefer the Sox. Wrigley is more of a theme / amusement park these days. But what a neat hockey game - better than the football I watched today!
