Not listed:

The Seaboard Coast Line. Wide variety of motive power. Good passenger service between Florida and the northeast until Amtrak took over in 1971.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

My soon-to-be fav. fallen flag has got to be BC Rail, it's a great railway with a little of everything, and CN is going to come in and ruin it all..

Oh well, I suppose all good things must come to an end.

B&O - Best & Only

Direct family relation to the road from the day commemorating the laying of the First Stone....way back in 1827. Father & Grandfather and I have maintained employment relationship form 1910 until the B&O ceased to be a corporate entity.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Even though I live in California, land of the ubiquitous Espee, my vote goes for the Rio Grande, the little railroad that could, and DID! Especially during the steam era, when those gorgeous L-105 Challengers from Baldwin raced through Utah and Colorado. Rio Grande steam were some of the handsomest and most powerful powerful of their types ever built--they HAD to be to survive in the profile over the Rockies. I'm just sorry that big bully UP has trashed so much of the former line since it took over. But that's another story. Yah, I'll take Rio Grande.

Voted NP. But the MILW Pacific Extension is right up there, as is The Rock. All time favorite tho? Spokane International.

Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Chicago Burlington & Quincy, Spokane Portland & Seattle and Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe. Is it any wonder I like BNSF today. Never had anything to do with the Frisco so it wasn't mentioned.

Chicago and North Western. Because it used to run on the tracks through our town, and I commute on it every weekday. It's fun to look for all the old railserved buildings along the right of way - as well as the old trackage. There's still lots.
