The Toronto Maple Leafs will never win another Stanley Cup until they move back to their REAL HOME. MAPLE LEAF GARDENS. 41 Censored [censored]  years and still counting.  Banged Head [banghead]  By the way, did you notice the bright blue Maple Leaves on the banners hanging down from the front of the building. They are going down for a reason.  I heard that they started putting up the banners in 1967 (Canada's Centenial, by the way) when the Leafs last won the cup with the intention of running them straight across the top, but when they lost the next year, they started running the leaves downhill and they haven't stopped yet.  Laugh [(-D]

By the way, nice thread. This is my first visit, but it won't be my last. Those old TTC Red Rockets and the Peter Witt trolleys bring back some fond memories of travelling down Yonge Street from north of Lawrence Ave. down to Queen Street and the old Eatons & Simpsons stores to go shopping with the folks.  Sigh [sigh]  What a treat. No shopping mall's and plaza's back then.

G'day!

Now that trolleyMAN Rob has returned, I kinda let things "go" in deference to his streetcar mania. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] I see we've attracted the attention of a fellow in Rob's neck of the woods . . . Thumbs Up [tup]

Great to see Wolfman Pete make a contribution to this lonely Thread! Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup] Comments from CM3 Shane appreciated also! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Al <Blue Flamer> don't know what your preferences are for the Kalmbach Forums, but if you like this Thread, you just may really enjoy "Our" Place - check it out by taking a look at Page One for the way we operate. You'd be most welcome by our small but active group of guys who enjoy the interaction . . . we're NOT "hit 'n run" people over there! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

A group of us from my neck of the woods <St. Louis, MO> went to a hockey game up at your "old barn" some years ago <1996> and had a blast! What a great time we had in the Gardens . . . You are sooooooooo correct in your commentary, by the by! Thumbs Up [tup] Oh yeah, the "Gretzky Blues" lost the game 'n the "great one" didn't make the trip! <geesh>

My offering for this mid-week day . . . a threesome from the dozen Posted at the bar . . .

(1) DRG&W - California Zephyr

(2) Erie - Pacific Express

(3) GN - The Cascadian

Enjoy! Thumbs Up [tup]

Good evening gents the late night check in for moi.Nice to see that I brought another long suffering Leaf fan out. Some day ( not likely before I'm gone they will win again )but hey we still keep on keeping on and watch them anyway. Where else can such a snake bit team still enjoy 40+ sellouts a season ( and for the bucks they charge )and still do what they do seson in season out Sigh [sigh]

Glad you've enjoyed the shots. If you get a chance most of my traction shots are the captive beasts at the HCRY museum in Milton come see us there for your Witt and PCC fix. I hope you do try out our little cyber bar on this forum as well. We would love to have you Thumbs Up [tup]

Tom-Nice pop in with a couple classy classic drumheads Thumbs Up [tup]

Okay here's the night shot.

The museum's first car Toronto Railway company 1326 built in the TRC shops in 1910. This is the last remaining example of the 400+ cars of this type the TRC put into service between 1907-14. They all joined the TTC on it's start up in 1921 and served through the second world war retiring off finally in the late 40's early 50's.1326 is still operational but we treat her with kit-gloves as here all wood construction requires some further restoration work,so she comes out only on high days and holy days at the museum.

Good Morning - They had a heck of a time getting 1401 to the smithsonian.  IIRC, there is a pictorial display near the exhibit that shows how it was done.  Nice picutre of 2816 - GO cars at the back of the train?
