No Tom you don't see those very often, even less now that they don't require a lot of coach switching anymore with less transcontinentals etc. Interesting poster or magazine

A shot of museum's small Witt 2894 on the mainline in front of the barn 3 complex.
Tom is that book a current release or am older one, that cover picture is great. I was in Otttawa in May viviting my daughter and stayed at the Westin Hotel, which looks down on what was the railway station. That is the first picture I have seen when it was still a station.
I have not been to the Halton County Museum for close to 20 years I think it's time for a return visit. Have not been around as much the last few days but I do look every chance I get keep them coming boys.
James
Afternoon folks. James that book is a fairly new release 2002 or three it still is available through Morning Sun or stores that carry them. Lets see what's up for today.
A CP RS18 .This shot was taken in 1984 in 1987 this became RS18u ( low nose rebuild 1868 ) the last one to cycle through the rebuilding process , note the soon to be retired RS10 behind it.
Gremlins at work on this Thread - twice lost a Post AFTER Posting it! <grrrrrrr>
Yeah James, that building in Ottawa is a marvelous structure. Last time there was over the weekend when the new War Memorial was commemorated . . . recall thinking as I walked that area how great it must've been to travel by rail back then . . .
Anway, that book was released in 2003 . . . still available, but pricey.
Nice motive power, Rob!
Mine for this Thursday . . .
Tom you didn't use the right wink and hand shake gesture to keep the gremlins at bay.Anyway nice one with the GN dome
Here's one you haven't seen. A shot from 1989, bet you know where it was taken as well.
Yeah, I didn't use the secret handshake, either! <groan>
Nice on in Brantford, Rob!
Another book for the day <this was our first RR Book Relay> at the bar!
That was a good book Now remember Tom the secret hand shake and the gremlins stay away I'm glad that you liked the Brantford shot. It's funny those houses on Usher street on the far side of the yard still look the same today.

Hi Folks.

I see that Pete's popped in with a couple fine shots so that merrits another post from me.
Two of our Museum's Witt's.Small Witt 2786 at the front of barn one and small Witt 2894 comming up the line.
I recognized those houses on Usher street, you know there is a picture in Canadian Steam by David P. Morgan in the chapter on winter scenes, and it shows I think a northern stopped at what looks to me like the west end of the CN platform, where the switch leads to the freight and express building. Those houses appear to be in that picture though it was one of the few he failed to indicate a location on, and it was taken at night.
That German engine looks burly does it not?
As always great pictures of the museum Rob, I went to the site today on somputer that is, and was amazed at how nuch they have grown since I was last there, means I have to go I guess.
Morning folks , just a quick stop in. James, yes that German steamer does look like a beast, a stump puller even.Oh Oh got you hooked on the museum again It's amazing how many people don't know were there oh well we'ed love to have you come out

Mine for this Saturday . . .

A classic shot , one I picked up at a train show. Its a last gasp shot of a CP FA2 at Toronto's John Street Yard ( about where the Roger's Centre now Is )shot was dated on the back 1973.Most of CP's FA's and indeed most of the 244 engined Alcos were retired in the mid 70's.
Good Sunday morning folks , here's another one from that same find.
An FA 2 awaiting it's fate in St Luc Quebec with many of the other retired 244 engined Alco's photo date 1973 (?)

RDC-1 (foto credit: unknown)
Good Morning all: Belive "them are" IC E units. Nice shot of North Station.
HAve been breezing through and looking so don't despair I do look lol. I really liked that colour scheme of the Illinois Central passenger engines.
Back in the sixties when CN was actually trying to expand passenger service they went on a buying spree picking up used equipment for rental or purchase. I distinctly recall seeing some Illinois Central equipment, on the International Limited a few times. There was quite a hodge podge of stuff showing up in those days I just wish I had been able to take more colour pictures, but I never saw VIA coming till it got here.
Also used to think the RDC's were rather noisy, until my first ride on the Tempo Train. god they were awful, rode rough, and noisy, I bet the newer vans they bought in the sixties rode better.
