"All of the world's problems are the result of the difference between how we think and how the world works."
Darn, I knew I shouldn't have asked that question, now I have to pay the tab. Eat, drink and be merry folks. it is all on me.
Tinplate ToddlerThose two ugly red cones?
Yes, indeed!
I thought they were a distraction. I also removed the blue-painted handicap stenciling just to "back-date" the photo a bit and also to remove the distraction.
I only spent a few minutes on the "clean-up". Must have been bored this morning?
Thanks for the merriment, Brent.
Thank you, Ed
It's snowing right now. We're supposed to get only about eight inches, but with 50 mph winds, it will drift quite a bit.
When our daughters were younger, we were traveling through the southeast, and we continually saw barns with the sign, "See Rock City", painted on them. It is on top of Lookout Mountain in northern Georgia.
We finally decided to go see what we assumed was a junky tourist attraction.
We were wrong. It was a really neat place. It was a family estate, with gardens and rock formations.
Most of the signs on the barns are gone, but you will still see them every-so-often.
If you ever travel through northern Georgia, it is worth a stop. You can also see a Civil War battle site and cemetery.
These are not my photos. I can't find mine after 30 years.

I asked my doctor if I gave up delicious food and all alcohol, would I live longer? He said, "No, but it will seem longer."
This one came through Saint Louis Park Minnesota approximately 2 months ago.
Obviously older but runs and looks better than I do

I went to Rock City most recently about 18 months ago. It is still a good place to stop, and still quite beautiful.
Of corse, I bought a "See Rock City" barn Christmas Ornament for the tree, and a "See Rock City" barn birdhouse.

You can make your visit to Chattanooga a "two-fer" and visit Ruby Falls also on Lookout Mountain.
Yes.
Just in time..... Isn't it a wonder how things work out to make travel almost impossible for the current Holiday at hand.
The snow will fly tonight and through tomorrow. 8 to12 inches will fall in my neck of the woods here in Minnesota.
I have my brand new Frogskins on my truck. Even though I'll have something to do with it, I will have nothing to do with it. I'm staying home.
No wxxk until Tuesday of next week
Have a Happy Turkey Day Kids..... I'm all stocked up with food for days here
Drop on by, I'll happily share with you Hopefully you have new Frogskins too
I will probably check out the neat places you speak of. For now, I have to live in the Here and Now
Happy Holidays
Battle of Chickamauga (GA), near Chattanooga. They have histerical monument signage guiding the visitors there.
Chickamauga is still a neat little town.

Thought I'd post this photo of an old tower in Newnan GA. Its a recent photo, as my recent drive by can verify it looks just like this.
I don't know the history of it. Currently, a busy branch line of the NS passes under it, with the more busy mainline crossing the line at grade in the photo. Seems weird to have such a large abandoned structure over a busy line, with no evidence of there being much other trackage ever near the tower.
How's the snow look out in your neck of the woods Kevin
What's the temperature down there in Florida tonight?
drcieselYou can make your visit to Chattanooga a "two-fer" and visit Ruby Falls also on Lookout Mountain.
I do not do Ruby Falls very well. I am 6' 7" tall and weigh a bit over 300. Ruby falls is difficult for me.

Doug, thanks for sharing that picture. That is a neat scene with a revenue section of trackage going underneath the abandon tower.
The crossing in the front of the image is really nifty. I have never seen a model duplicate that type of crossing.
Track fiddlerWhat's the temperature down there in Florida tonight?
In Cape Coral it is 68 right now. Overnight low will dip to low 60s or high 50s.
I am in Atlanta, where the weather is about the same. Our overnight low will be in the low 50s.
I am driving to Florida tomorrow.
My Judy's watching Little House on the Prairie tonight.
Number three just pulled up to the station, standing still on the rails and breathing.
You will have to excuse me for a moment, I will get back to you
Number 3 pulled away from the station. That Little Steamer is Clint Eastwood's favorite you know.
50s - 60s in Florida and Atlanta. I think I live in the wrong state.
Have a safe drive home Kevin.... drive carefully my friend.
Greetings fellow diners, once again from the state of Georgia.
Tomorrow is my last day in Georgia. In the morning I am packing up the car and heading south. It has been an enjoyable month here, but it is time to be moving on down to the sunshine again.
Today I present the small town of Baxley, Georgia.
Baxley has a very nice looking downtown, and a very pretty courthouse in the center of the town.
I did not see any trains in Baxley, but I did find two murals of trains painted onto the sides of buildings in town.
The cotton harvest is still being hauled in down here in this part of Georgia.
I am going to get some rest, I have a drive ahead of me in the morning
Y’all take care. (Georgia speak)

Excellent Photography.
I just have to say that's a really cool picture Doughless.
Old relics of an old school picture you provided are few and far between..... Perfect.
I like it!
The cross tracks in front, centered in ..... Hope you don't mind I took it, it's in my file.
Again, I really like it

My Brother's coming for Thanksgiving, that is all I wanted.
Very Happy
Good evening all.
Chloe - I know it’s a big later in the evening, but I will take a peppermint mocha cappuccino please.
Yes Chloe, the asthma is acting up today.
Ulrich - Neat little houses you have been showing and designing. Hopefully you can make one of these work out and can move quickly and safely to your new dwellings. I can tell that the issues in your current location are weighing very heavily on you.
Kevin - Thanks for all the info on Georgia. It’s been an enjoyable "visit" here.
Ken - At least Dirk didn't try to bring you the mouse he was so interested in. My dog Dozer did that once, minus the trap, and Mom was very unhappy with that move.
Especially when Dozer than decided to eat said mouse...
And yes, it’s "that time of the year again." Mice come in looking for warmth and food. And they find the tiniest holes to squeeze through to get in.
Mouse trap discussion - The bacon trap would definitely catch me. I have found that Nutella works a bit better than plain peanut butter does, up until it starts to dry out after several weeks.
Someone had suggested it, and I decided to try it last winter. My totally unscientific proof is that of 4 traps set in the hallway near the attic door, I set a single one with Nutella. (And set it farthest from the attic door of them all.) It caught 3 for every 1 in the peanut butter traps.
So, I then set a few more with Nutella, and the same trend continued for a bit.
They for some reason, were ignoring one in a room off that hallway though, so I brought it out to the hallway as well. I left them set that way for a few weeks. After a few weeks, they then switched to the peanut butter ones, and were now ignoring the older Nutella one that had been brought out into that hallway.
So, for whatever reason, after it begins to dry out, Nutella loses it charm on mice.
I have also heard of people using chocolate syrup. Friends of mine tried this, and said it also works much better than peanut butter. (Just like bacon, who doesn't like chocolate?)
Speaking of Bacon and Chocolate - Has anyone ever tried chocolate covered bacon? It is surprisingly good....
Weather - Warm today, windy wet and warm tomorrow, with it (forecast at least) changing to snow on Thursday. This is part of the problem with my asthma flaring up.
Health - As mentioned, my asthma is misbehaving of late. I think it’s a combination of weather, and "environmental issues" that have been affecting it. (Had to attend a funeral showing last Thursday, and it was a bit smelly between the floral arrangements and the perfume wearing crowd. Between that and it’s "smoke season" from peoples wood stoves, I have been having a hard time of late.
W*^k - Story time - I was asked (by one of the girls, in front of the boss) why a delivery took so long today, and had zero idea what was being asked, as it wasn’t really that long. (I replied that there was a road crew on the one road, but it wasn’t that long of a wait.) So she explained, that she had passed me on a certain road "around 11am." By that statement, it would have taken me an hour to make a delivery that is normally a 30-35 minute round trip.
I replied that this was a pretty good magic trick, as I hadn’t left the store until 11:10-11:15. Yet, she passed me on her way to lunch 10 minutes prior to my leaving while being 10 minutes from the store.
It was an even better magic trick in that she didn’t punch out for lunch until after I had left for the 2 deliveries. (Or, rather, about the same time I was leaving after loading the deliveries into the car.)
It was actually around 11:25 that we passed each other, as I had noticed her and made special note of where and when, as I figured there would be questions as to why I was choosing that particular route. (Not the shortest distance wise, but quicker time wise due to less traffic, a higher speed limit, and less stop lights. She seems to forget that I grew up in this area, so know very well how to get from point A to point B quickly.)
Seems like I need to do a mapquest route time again, as this had occurred before, and to get it stopped I did just that, to prove I was not taking longer than necessary on deliveries that are further than 10 minutes or so away. (It also does not help that this particular individual routinely sends me to multiple stops, in different directions from each other, making it take even longer from the store than if it was only one stop, or all in the same general area. This set of deliveries today sent me 16 miles north east from the store, by way of a 2 mile south west stop first "on the way"...)
It has also been mentioned before that I have been observed driving at "only" the speed limit, and I have defended that before as well. (As a delivery driver, my j*b is driving. I was hired because I am a good, safe driver with a very clean record. As such, I am obligated to obey all traffic laws, including speed limits. {At least that is how I explained it last time it was complained about. People dislike arguing with logic.} And besides that, I simply don’t get paid enough to throw away good money on a speeding ticket. {I have trains to buy instead. } I thought this would go over better than "I’m sorry that my being a better driver than you is so upsetting." But, if it comes down to that explanation....)
Trains - Saw a local short line running a "out and back" train today, with a pair of 4 axle units. Funny thing was that they were running them both nose-to-nose, so each way the lead unit would be long-hood forward. I thought they would have probably performed a run-around move in the originating yard to get them coupled back-to-back instead, but they chose not to do that for whatever reason today. While I do not have models of these two units, I do have a couple of their sisters in miniature form.
Sports - NASCAR great Jimmie Johnson has announced that 2020 will be his final year competing full-time. And fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. has announced he will attempt a few starts in a Hendrick car in 2020. Daytona front row of 48 and 7 this coming 500?
I have been a fan of NASCAR since watching my first race with my Grandfather, a uncle, and a cousin, way back in 1997. (Daytona 500 of course.) I had no clue who any of the drivers were that day, but I knew I liked that colorful rainbow 24's looks. My cousin was really perturbed that I knew nothing about it, yet somehow managed to choose a good driver to cheer for. (He won.)
I switched to cheering for Jimmie in his rookie year. (Man, now I feel old!) Guess I will need a new favorite starting in 2021.
Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!

Good evening diners!
Fantastic news!
I got the job at the Cook Hotel at LSU!
What's more I got approved for a car loan!
I am purchasing a 2012 Ford Mustang GT with a manual gearbox.
I've had to look at quite a few but I think I've found the one! Price is right, got the right features.
Only thing that has put a damper on my week is I dropped my phone in the parking lot of the hotel and it broke the corners of the screen, all four! Its usable so I'll get by for now, Samsung wants 270 to fix it and I'd have to mail my phone to them for over 2 weeks!
I literally owe 360 on this phone, I might as well pay it off sooner and buy a new model, I like those Samsung Note phones.
Anyways ciao from the guy whom is on cloud nine right now!
Happy Thanksgiving folks!
Don't end up like this guy...
Or this girl...
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Prost and Congratulations at your new job at the Cook hotel Steven
Not a big fan of the late Mustangs but I'm hopeful it works for you
Very very hopeful
ricktrains4824Mouse trap discussion - The bacon trap would definitely catch me. I have found that Nutella works a bit better than plain peanut butter does, up until it starts to dry out after several weeks.
I use peanut butter with bird seed stuck in it. It catches all I need to be caught, from mice to chipmunks, and the occasional nosey squirrel.
Have a good Thanksgiving eveyone!
Mike.

I hope that made sense.

I hope that is humor and not sarcasm cause it's a dang good joke.
And thanks for the congrats.
You are entirely welcome for the congrats
Not humor and not a joke
Just plain sense
Sometimes I wish I had that thrown at me when I was a young buck If only then I could have understood
Let me put it to you like this Steven
Anything you want, anything you wish is yours if you believe
Anything you start to do is not compromised by others if you believe and continue to do it
Time is not your friend and time will not help you
Start whatever it is you believe in now and persist and continue with it
It will be yours if you wish it, believe it and continue with it
Do you get me sweetheart
Start before it's too late

Flo, give the gang and I a please and Dirk his Buffalo treat. Rick good to see you again, your RBF is on my tap!
Work Front Had 3 customers today and 1 bought and I made a extra $110.00 I believe.
Mouse Trap Baite. For now I am sticking with the Slim Jim's. They seem more durable.
Steven While I like that style Mustang, is it the 4.6 liter with the 3 valves per cylinder? I have read about the head problems and it is a majior repair. Hope if has those heads they have been repaired before hand.
Later none smoking Ken and Dirk, well he is a sleep so he has nothing to add.
I hate Rust
mbinsewiI use peanut butter with bird seed stuck in it. It catches all I need to be caught, from mice to chipmunks, and the occasional nosey squirrel.
Hi Mike,
Trapping mice, okay. Squirrels, even better! But chipmunks??? I love chipmunks! Some summers I can get them to sit right in my hand to get the peanuts, and one year I had one that would climb right up to my chest to get a peanut (gets your clothes dirty real fast especially if the ground is wet!) I have been nipped a couple of times but the bites were more exploratory than aggressive. They have never left a mark. I think they just wanted to see if my finger was worth chewing on.
Seriously, I know that they can be a problem. I'm sure that they have created a wonderful rotting mess of peanuts and shells under my hot tub, but so far we haven't detected any odours. So, in our case, because they haven't done us any harm, we will continue to watch and feed the cute little beasties.
Squirrels, on the other hand, wreak havoc on our planters and our gardens regularly. They have even destroyed our deck lights and they chewed the cord off of our deck shade, making it pretty much useless. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to dispatch the things, and the law says that you can't move them more than a kilometer from where they were trapped. We tried using a slingshot with chick peas (rather than filling the back yard with little metal balls). On the rare ocassions when the chick peas actually flew straight enough to hit the squirrels, they barely flinched.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I guess nobody got me sweethearts
