Good Morning,

We were up early today as we had to take Robbie to the vet for a blood draw after fasting. We are just checking his liver enzymes to make sure they are still coming down.

Ken, carpenter ants will leave a small sawdust pile. We had them in our house a couple of years ago and it took an exterminator 6 tries to get rid of them. Nasty brutes. They will grab a kleenex with their pincers and are hard to pull off. We did see them on the floor sometimes at night. They go out looking for food and water.

Yesterday we intended to to some planting but got a call from 'birding' friends to go look for an indigo bunting and lazuli bunting in a park at the north end of the city. Score! we saw both. We had never seen either before. While on the edge of an indigo range we are well east of a lazuli range.

Today we have to get at the planting as we have a lot of flowers sitting in containers to get into pots or the ground. I also need to mow the grass.

Time to get at it.

Top of page. A full English breakfast for all you hungry fellows.

SPSOT - Any jet lag yet?

Not a thing! This trip we took some medium sized, 8 hours flights instead of one long 14 hour flight, really made it much less tiring! Also we left at 10pm and arrived around 5 pm, making myself a little less messed up I guess! Already been in the US for almost a week!

Regards, Isaac

I have never traveled fast enough between time zones to get effected by jet lag.

I tend to be more of a north/south traveler rather than east/west.

So, Judy's been toy boating me and Erv around Prior Lake all day today I'm really impressed my wife is such a good boat Captain.  I gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I told her how much I appreciated her and she gave me a smooch back and went back to the wheel and kept continuing what she was doing.

God I love this woman  she is the best thing that anyone could ever have  and I have her

She wasn't drilling a hole in the boat bottom to let the water out, was she?

My wife and I could not agree where to eat dinner tonight, so I left, went to Pizza Hut, and brought her back one of her favorites to the hotel.

.

She knows I do not like Pizza Hut, so she gave me a hug and a kiss too.

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, give that gang and I Beer please and leave a stein outside for Ulich.

Raccoon Front Seems it will die from Diabets before I catch it! Laugh Yep it ate all of the Marshmallow's with out setting the trap off! After watching a few U-Tube videos I learned a few things.

1 There a few driffrent sensitivity levels I can set the spring plate to. I set mine at the highest and yes it worked but I have it set for a lower pressure now.

2 Stick the marshmallow's thought the bottom of the trap after the trip plate. That way it will have to work at it a little harder.

After the racket it caused last night I don't feel bad about what I am going to do to it!

Insect problem. I did not go into the attic today with what sounded like a mad raccoon up there. While I am not afraid of it, I am not stupid either! Only reason I am trying self treatment is to slow what ever is up there till I get a Professional Exterinator

Train Front rediscovred my Bachmann Sound Vaule F7's Santa Fe's. The Mighty CB&Q F7's need some mainteance's and Dueling Thundering Tennis Balls does not work well. I am still enamored with the PRR I1sa engine so I broke out the Sound Vaule F7's Santa Fe's. For $120.00 for the pair new, it was a good deal!

 None smoking Ken posting again!

Termites

As a young boy I grew up in Brownsville Texas. Many of the homes were built on posts, wood, cement, the posts were placed in containers that had sides about 4-5 inches high. They were filled with creosote. About once a year the home owner, or somone contracted to do the job, would go under the house and re-fill the containers.

Houses were also bagged, (entire house) all the doors and windows were opened, and a DDT generator was used to inflate the bag----no mice, roaches, termites, spiders or scorpions.

In 47 there was an outbreak of Polio, thought to possibly be caused by mosquitoes- The city acquired some surplus army trucks with DDT generators on the back, and in the evening would go up one street, and down another, blowing vaporized DDT above the tree tops throughout the entire city.

Never did have any problems with fleas on the family dog, either.

We use peanut butter sandwiches. I've seen some trappers use canned cat food, kind of messy, though. We get good results with peanut butter & jelly sandwiches on stale bread, yum! I had two raccoons trying to empty the bird feeders last night. Tonight they get PB&J Pirate

Evening folks,

Did yall see my update post on the last page?

TF, hope you get your phone fixed quick!

Well I've had a hell of a day dealing with a certifiable psychopath, some people just cant be satisfied, they always get mad when you try to help them fix their problem.

I just reviewed my proposed track plan, and it only has 40 turnouts on the visible portion. I could have sworn the number was 50.

Good Evening All,

Just dropping by for a bit. Tomorrow morning we go to Lime Rock for a test day then off to Mosport the day after that. Next week we have a race meeting at Thompson then a week off before we go to Quebec. Busy time of year for sure.

Steven, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Not sure how it all turns out well for you but hopefully you at least break even. Unfortunately there are people out there who want to make their issues yours and all you can do is keep doing what you think is right. For the time being just make sure there are other people around at all times so no unfounded accusations can be made. Eventually the truth will come out. In the mean time be careful.

Not doing much with the layout besides cleaning for now. I am doing a little scenery here and there as I get ideas of things to try. All for now, sleep beckons (no horde of teenagers here).   Ciao, J.R.

Congratulations! Dianne and I have only seen indigo buntings a few times. One of those times was this spring. We had one hang around for a couple of days. We also had one a few years ago that was still molting its brown winter feathers. We have seen them a few times at Point Pelee too. Sighting a rare bird is what makes birding so rewarding!

Our orioles seemed to have disappeared!CryingHuh?No Several days and no sightings. Oh well, at least now we have lots of grape jelly to enjoy!Smile, Wink & Grin

Wishing all of you birders good sightings!!

The painters have finished the train room.  I saw it today and it's a perfect sky blue for my background.

Save the jelly for late Summer, Dave. Ours used to stay for two or three weeks in the early Spring and return in Late Summer, too. Now they like it here so they stay all Summer. It took a few years for them to cut their migration "short".

I'd say we have three pair that call this their Summer Home Smile

Hey guys,

Kevin, sounds like the entire YMCA summer camp staff at my branch, everyone is 18-20 years old, some literally just turned 18 and are fresh out of highschool.

It's going to be a long summerLaugh

Good Tuesday Morning —

MisterBeasley
My new community has named most streets after birds.  My house is on Flicker Court.

I'll bet you're glad you didn't wind up on Dodo Drive Whistling

I was on the fence for a while about fitting a CPR Royal Hudson into the scheme of things on a New York Central, B&O, PRR model railroad. Well, there's always room for imagination, and railfan excursions YesBig Smile

Sure glad I fell off the fence in the right direction!

I hope you get your electronic gear squared away, TF. I'm not exactly following what's going on. First I thought YOU had the virus and I was going to suggest Vicks Vapo-Rub. I never had a "smart-phone" or Twitter-Box as I call them.

My mom used to spray Lysol on the old Western Electric 554 wall phone in the kitchen. No viruses, or germs for that matter Smile

Assuming you can still call, that is —

Winter, spring, summer or fall

All you have to do is call —

and I'll be there

Hello everyone remember me?

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
