This month we are a bit north, the North Coast Limited to be specific! Yes, today we are traveling through Montana on the Northern Pacific in a great Lowey Green Streamliner! And soon, says the conductor, we'll be de-training at the beautiful Livingston, Montana depot, and boarding a Northern Pacific Transportation bus for Yellowstone National Park to start our summer!
For now I encourage you to enjoy the passing scenery in the Vista Dome, and on this train you have many choices. There's enough space in these domes for all us forum members!

Yup, the rail gateway of sorts to Yellowstone! Summer to me means vactions to places and Yellowstone is one of the most famous vacation spots accessed by the NP!

Ed, you're making a habit of riding rival trains! Last month you rode on the yellow things and now your sleeping in a big sky blue thing (actually it is a fake blue thing, it's really an ex-atsf unit)! Galcier is GN territory, Yellowstone is NP!

Not much to report from Buckeye land other then I was talking to the other two train buffs here at the rest home over breakfast and the subject of hobby shops came up concerning the mandatory Saturday morning trip to the LHS and the excitement about seeing new models and talking to other modelers.. Dean stated he was the odd ball of the group because he collected Lionel and had no use for the other scales. Speaking of which he has a NYC A-A,NYC GP7 (these diesels are post war) and a NYC 700E Hudson( new version) in his room.

I turned in early last night. I enjoyed reading the 66 Mustang-cow in the backseat story this morning. It's nice to wake up to a good laugh. The things that made perfect sense to us when we were out on a bender When We Were Young
Judy got the scoop on the train ride today. We are going to depart from Osceola Wisconsin and ride the rails to Dresser Wisconsin at 1:30.
We will be given time to check out the old wooden Dresser Depot. It is an old depot from the 18 hundreds that has been fully restored. You get to watch the train turn around there too. I will catch you guys up with pictures today.

Yellowstone is mostly in Wyoming. True, there is a little sliver in Montana and a smaller little sliver in Idaho and we don't mind sharing the greatest national park in the country with our neighbors. A few years ago the official Wyoming State Tourist Bureau got into a bit of a tussle with the Montana Tourist Office when Montana started advertising themselves as 'The Gateway to Yellowstone'. Nothing came of it of course, but my suggestion was to start calling Wyoming 'The Gateway to Mount Rushmore' and see how South Dakota would react.
Anyhow, we love our Montana cousins and are very proud to have them as neighbors. Plus, Montana does not charge a sales tax.

I bought my house yesterday. We are having it painted before we move in.
I will again have a train room. It should be possible to set up the trains, although I will have to reconfigure it some for the new space.
I will be back to a real computer instead of this very limited tablet I have been using for almost a year.

Yes Yellowstone is almost entirely in Wyoming but the NP heavily advertised the park back in the day. Had to compete with those GN trains to Glacier. The NP is the closest mainlina to Yellowstone. Oh, and if you've been to Livingston Mt, you'll see alot of evidence the Yellowstone tourist trade, a big NP depot for a small town being one indication.

Larry, it looks like you have enough train guys at your facility to mount a coup and turn the dining room into a trainroom. There are many senior facilities that have incorporated a layout into the place as both the male and female residents like to get involved with the hobby. I remember a care home up here that had a 30' x 50' space for a layout and on the news, they showed the ladies making hundreds of trees for it.

Nobody suggeated Montana.
Montana is a nice place, but we Diners should have aged ahead of time.

Felt pretty today. Wife fried some bacon and the smell me sick. Did get the front yard cut and got the new smoke dector installed.
Ed Yes there is a second whistle but I really love the Banshee whistle! I was some what surprised by how small it is, but it pulls like a mule! Right now it is dragging the CB&Q F7's freight train that is 34 cars long.

Osceola was a hit. For now that's it We stopped at the piano bar in Farmington Wisconsin and now we are in, where are we Judy..... New Richmond Wisconsin with a beautiful view of the Lake off the balcony. Not a big lake but a lake is a lake. Actually I would consider it more of a marsh but it's windy, no Minnesota state birds (mosquitoes)

My kind of Hotel, they let me start the fire. I grabbed a cylinder of map gas out of the truck to get it going. Tomorrow we are going to Prescott to the lift bridge with tbe boats and BNSF.

It was fun to see the engine down the siding track to hook up on the other side of the cars to pull us back. I asked the head conductor if I could ride back in the engine and I was told a $35 upgrade but he said I am going to upgrade you for free. Unfortunately an engineer was in training so I couldn't do it, I was bummed out.
I enjoyed the bump that caught me a little off balance when SOO connected
The head conductor was such a cool guy. He sat at our table with us and he had his stories. He was the best part of my trip. I had Judy take my picture with him.
What a great guy, he told me if I come back in July he will see that I drive the train. I will go back in July.

Sorry about that. I didn't know we discused to location of the diner at the end of each month, I must have somehow missed that conversation. Appologies for not taking imput. I just though we'd ride another transcontinental streamliner this month.

You have great, youthful enthusiasm, Isaac.
We old timers have seen it here in the Diner—and in the forums— before. In your defense, no one else really stepped up to actually move and open the Diner so it was your perogative to make the final decision as to the location. There has been confusion in this regard before.
From where I stand, you seem to have descended upon the M-R forums like an invading batallion of Marines (or a swarm of locusts) without actually giving us any indication of your background, personality, or exactly why you stand up to defend the Northern Pacific while scoffing at any other railroad.
Perhaps if we were to get to know you better we might have a better understanding of your likes, dislikes (no secret there) and what exactly makes you tick.

You would certainly do well to earn the trust and fellowship of others if you would lower your defensive shield a bit and try to, perhaps, ease up a bit on the "I'm a rivet counter and I know everything" shtick and just learn as you go and be a little more forgiving of others on your quest to be the God of Rivet Counting.

Well, Ed, it does seem like I've been a bit crazy, and have definatley swarmed the forums in the past two months. So I'll step back a bit and give a bit of an intro to those who know little about me. I have shared some info but I'll share abit more here.
I just finished 10th grade last week, so I'm in the dead middle of my high school career. I have lived in South Asia and the Middle East for most of my life (take no offense at this, but as this is publicly displayed on the internet, I prefer not to specifly where). I am, however from the US, having been born in Michigan, but consider Washington my home (at least for now).
Now for how I got into the hobby, my grandfather has been taking me to train related events and runing his stuff with me since as long as I can remember. It's working with his stuff that I have gained alot of my knowledge I use on this forum (i.e. DCC stuff, experience with certain manufacturers, etc.). He likes the SP&S and NP, so I do to. It's a bit of a relional thing, being from Eastern Washington.
So about a year and a half ago, I started my own trains. At the time we were temperarily living in MI and I bought HO stuff. Then last summer we prepared to move overseas again I switched to N scale, since it is smaller and fits better in suitcases to take overseas.
Now my N scale layout hasn't progress far at all. I have the lumber to build a table top for it but I haven't put it together yet, and since I am preping to go on a big, summer trip to the US in a few days, I don't see that happening until next fall . Also were I live now scale modelling just isnt a thing, so I have to import everything in luggage. That kind of causes me to lack modivation to build what I can .
Now instead of accually building my layout, I spend alot of time online looking at train stuff. That's why I participate on these forums alot, and watch alot of YouTube videos, it kind of replaces doing physical train stuff...
I also started designing trackplans using XTrackCAD this weekend. I have a notebook where I have been drawing alot of track plans in the past year (let's say 30 rough plans). I've been converting them to digital plans over the past weekend. Might post them in the WPF is I can get Flickr working.
So thats a bit about me! Hope this can give you a bit of an idea of what my life is like!

I wouldn't say NOT any other railroads, I like the WP, GN (unless it involves competing with the NP) and sometimes the SP too. The BN, BNSF, MRL, Washington Central (a local shortline) are also more modern railroads I am partial to. Out east I like the Pere Marquette and C&O (because I was born in west MI) and CSX (lived 2 blocks from it's former PM/C&O line). Sorry if I seem to hate on other lines, that is not true (though the UP is, uhhh, not a friend).

Well I am a bit of a rivet counter, I can't deny that! I am sorry if I appear to have am air of knowing everything, because that is not the truth, I definately don't know everything, and am often wrong. I just try to give people all the information I can. I will try to relax the "God of Rivet Counting" thing. Sorry if it went too far.
