Evening diners,

Blew through the day mowing grass, I started around 11:30!

I've still gotta trim up around a few spots!

I think the engine on the Ztr is about to go, I'm going to need to swap it for the one off the Ariens, the reason I think this is it has a terrible rocking vibration when starting and shutting off.

Went to Sunday school, that was nice.

Well I'll be back.

Steve

Continued working on my RS3.   Somehow I managed to connect the wrong color wires to one of the led's and wire the engine backwards.  Eventually it all worked.  Then I added some wire to a CMR turntable I bought off Ebay a while ago.

I probably should have weathered the pit more, before the wires, but I was on a soldering roll.  It is painted a uniform gray, with no weathering at all.

Put another layer of mod podge diluted with water on my pond/puddle. I added a touch of blue paint.  Nothing drys fast in my basement, so it might be a couple days before I can see what happened.  My first layer had no color and I liked the transparency, which I did not get with matte medium + paint.

Last 2 days; humid, not real hot, afternoon and evening thunder showers.  The neighbor 2 doors down told me he saw a coyote in his front yard this week.  Great...there goes the foxes and the cats.Grumpy

I really got a lot of cleaning done today. The garage is almost ready to have the car parked back inside. My workshop room is cleaned up. I organized a lot of stuff that wound up in boxes and threw about 1/3 of it away.

.

Now it is almost time for bed and I do not have time to enjoy it.

Evening all !

Flo, could I get a Bourbon .... in a Gallon size glass ?

The Wife decided now is the time to get a garden tractor. So after spending $250 on that ( it was used but in good condition ) She hit's me with the "I need a Car Too" story ! So I spent the rest of the day looking at used truck's. We ended up getting a 1992 GMC Sonoma for $600 ( come's with 4 extra tire's and all the RUST you could possably imagine !) But it run's good .... just look's "Awful".

We just needed a second vehicle so I wouldnt have to do all the shopping for us.

Needless to say, My hobby budget is shot to heck... HECK I SAY ! So no purchase's for me for at least a month. I will post picture's of the "crusty Beast" when we pick it up on Wednesday.

I know my signiture line say's Rust is a good thing.... but this might be Too much ..... Even for me !

Rust...... It's a good thing !

I loved my 2003 Sonoma. Put about 125K on it and If I recall the only non-wear item repair I made was to replace the back-up light switch on the tranny, it was a five-speed. I sold that to a friend who put another couple thousand-plus miles on it. To replace it I bought a 2009 GMC Canyon. Meh. It's OK but not as nice as that Sonoma was.

Good morning all.

I think I asked this question yesterday but didn't get a response from anyone so I'll try again.

Is anyone else having a problem with their Imgur site. My whole desktop format for posting pictures has changed. I am no longer able to navigate the same way I used to... I am unable to post a picture at all.

I'm wondering if it's just my site or if anyone else is having the same problem. Thanks

Track fiddler - I am using Imgur and nothing has changed for me. Check whether you are properly logged into your account and then click on "images" on the pull down menue which appears below your log-in name. You get a list /thumbnails) of all your pictures, which you can sort. I have mine displayed by latest picture first. Click on the picture you´d like to post and then copy on the BB code, which you just paste into the text box of your post.

It works fine for me and should work for you, also!

I never knew Amoco owned locomotives. I guess they did.

It is an SW1 (ex-CNW 1271) that according to what I have found, it ended up in Mandan, ND, at the Tesoro refinery. Per locophotos.com

Hobby Front: Layout move didn't happen and I don't know when it will. Mom and I were involved in a traffic accident on the highway at our turnoff. We got clipped by the step of a semi cab. Driver didn't see the left hand turn signal quickly enough to stop. (Tried to pass our vehicle.) We're fine (a few frayed nerves). However the car is a different story. The front end was torn off, the radiator was punctured, the front half of the driver's side fender was ripped off, the front tire was punctured and some part of the attachment of the wheel to the car was also broken. (Don't think the axle is bent as the wheel sits square when it was sitting at the body shop. The other interesting thing is that the hood isn't wrinkled in the slightest.) Mom didn't get a ticket. It took some doing for our insurance person to find a number for the semi's insurance company. (It's out of Georgia.) They were contacted and last I knew, they hadn't emailed our insurance person. It will be quite interesting the next few days till this gets figured out.

Glad you and mom weren't harmed other than frayed nerves.

Another good reason to have an on-board camera. I'm beginning to have the opinion that I need two, one fore and one aft.

I'm in the middle of dropping some trees and came in for some water and a short break. I hear the chain saw calling... winter is coming Geeked

I also neglected to mention that, while we were waiting for the tow truck and the HP to arrive, the traffic that was going past slowed down and worked its way around the car which was blocking the northbound lane of the highway (facing south). We didn't have to even worry about routing them. Both the HP officer and the tow truck driver were quite surprised at that. The stretch of road in question is fairly flat and straight for about a mile to a mile and a half.

Ironically enough, the friend that gave Mom and I a ride around once we got back into town and had the semi driver's insurance information barely missed getting clipped by a driver who ran a stop sign while she was coming to get us. She had me also watching traffic as well.

I didn't raise this with Mom but today is the 13th after all. (Not that I am triskadecaphobic but there have been times where I am been snakebit on the 13th of some months.)

I loved my 2003 Sonoma

I love Chevy / Gmc product's ! That being said, this paticular Sonoma has seen some HARD use ! The engine and transmission are good, but the rest of the truck is about to fall apart . I will be scrapping the bed ( the rib's under the bed are rusted completely off,and the floor of the bed is "Swiss Chese) I'm going to turn it into a Stake Side. I have more than enough 2X6 lumber for the bed , and plenty of angle Iron.

The interior ??? well ... It does have 2 seat's ....

The Cab and front clip is a "Hodge-podge " of several different truck's put together.... so it's Blue door, White door ,Grey fender, Blue and Silver fender, Grey cab, Exept the passenger side of the cab is White, And of course,  a Rusty hood that I think was Light Blue at some point 10 year's ago.

ALL the part's have a "see-through effect" because of rust.

Oh yea, the driver's side floor is " Flintstone" style .... for emergency braking.

I'm sure I can "Buff" most of this out ....... L O L !

Rust...... It's a good thing !

Evening diners,

Ulrich, those "country girls" don't look like the ones I've seen in this part of the woods! They have less clothes here! NO JUST KIDDING, actually the recent trend has been heading away from the "short shorts" I pay attentionWhistling

Music, well I'm starting to see a bit of a plan for my song, it's going to be written as two songs which will be unified later, don't ask why but that's the direction I feel I'm going.

I'm going to have to get a band together, the key elements I'm seeing for the song(s) is piano, electric guitar, and saxophone, again not sure why but that's what I feel will suit the song.

I'm still working on my cover material but I think I might be able to pull off songwriting, maybe with a little help.

MR front, projects have stalled, I just don't have the time to focus on anything else right now. Perhaps in a week or two. I might pick up some supplies between now and then.

Work, HD doesn't hire under 18, so I've applied at TSC (Tractor Supply) the manager said he'd hire 17 yo, but the website says 18, and you have to go through the website.

I'm going to try Oriellys and NAPA too.

Dating, well I kinda saw this coming but wasn't expecting it at the same time, so it's kinda giving me some perspective, I'm now kinda over it, I'm happy with being friends, and what the future holds I'll worry about tomorrow.Laugh

Went on and in so I edited it to be shorterLaugh

Well here's the soap box for the next fella.

SoapBox

Good Morning!

It´s raining, which feels refreshing after nearly two months with hardly any precipitation at all. The land is still parched. Farmers have lost up to half of their crop and this year will definitively not turn into a prized vintage year for the wineries.

NWP SWP
actually the recent trend has been heading away from the "short shorts" I pay attention

That may very well be, but I wouldn´t know. There are no "country & western" music festivals in my neck of the woods for me to observe recent trends. Btw, the video was filmed 9 years ago, so I bet the ladies look a little different now.

FRRYKid - I am glad you and your mother were not hurt!

I blew a miniature light bulb in my fake crocodile a week ago and ordered a set for replacing it. It took the seller 1 week to get it shipped! I guess I have to wait for another week for delivery, as our postal service is slow , dead slow during the summer vacation season. During the rest of the year it is usually next day delivery, which is OK.

Got to get going and run the early morning commuter train on my layout Smile

CUL!

Happy times!

The replacement light bulbs arrived in today´s mail, which I hadn´t expected. In the attempt to replace the broken one, I messed up the socket. I simply have to accept the fact that I can´t do such delicate things any longer - which makes me sad and angry! I hope my friend lothar can fix it for me!

Nevertheless, I feel like I could ... the whole thing up!

The tree I ordered also arrived today and it was planted to the left of the station building.

Good morning from the West Coast. It is a beautiful day (I think) however, there is so much smoke in the air from the six hundred forest fires burning in the Province that who can tell. Bear has once again sent some of the best Kiwi firefighters up from New Zealand to help in the battle.

Our above ground pool is so hot we have to put the hose in it to cool down the water temp. I actually have been in it a lot this year. My floaty can hold two beers, life is good.Laugh

Spent a week on Vancouver Island looking at properties from Victoria to Cambell River. We can get acreage on the ocean with a nearly new 4000 sqft. house for less than half of what we can get for our current house close to Vancouver. If we don't want ocean front then the deal is even better. We went and looked at the house I posted about a while back and decided it wasn't right for us and continued looking.

Had relatives from England here on Sunday for the day. Their offspring loved the layout and spent about three hours in the trainroom running trains. They were so well behaved I had no qualms about leaving the kids in there by themselves, now that is saying something.

They then headed over to Vancouver Island where my cousin grew up and she is in the process of packing up all my Uncles, her Grandpa's train stuff to ship back to England. I'm not sure of the wisdom of that as it is quite old and there is the 110 vs: 220 issue. However, I think it is for sentimental reasons more than anything else she is doing it. She is a highly paid scientist that was working for a large research firm in California and they are very well off. The company was having major issues with staff being able to come and go in and out of the country so the whole company packed up and moved to England not long ago. They now have a 5000 sqft home in the English countryside with a room they said could hold a good sized layout. Once again childhood memories may trigger another generation of model railroading.

The cruise ship industry is huge out of Vancouver in the Summertime and if the ship is not full the locals can grab a 1-week Alaska cruise for $500.00 one or two days before departure. The kid is looking a little ragged from work so we are trying to grab a last minute cheapee on the Amsterdam next week. We have gotten lucky before so who knows. He heads back to Ottawa Sept 1 to school. He was feeling flush and rented a house with a couple of buddies on a one year lease, a 20 minute walk from the University.

Ken, I think it is awesome that you are taking the high road and standing up for your customers. I use to hold my bosses to account frequently and reminded them who they were working for on more than one occasion. Once one of the managers came up to me and said "Brent your name comes up a lot when I am in Ottawa"Laugh It must have been for a good reason though as they were always trying to promote me. Maybe that was because then they could fire me easier.Laugh I really don't think so.

Those Czech ladies are beautiful. The first nanny we had for the kid was Czech. Blond and drop dead gorgeous. After two years she applied for landed immigrant status and one day when she was taking my kid to B.C. Children's Hospital, met a Czech Doctor working at the hospital and is now living happily ever after in a large home overlooking the ocean in Vancouver. I am so happy for her as her young life behind the Iron Curtain was horrible. She spent a lot of time telling me about it. She deserves what she now has.Smile

Well got behind on emptying the job jar while we were away so best start catching up.

All the best to all.

Brent

Afternoon folks!

Well, Ulrich, I won't comment on the musicianship, but I wouldn't mind a fiddle duet with the fiddler........ I bet they still can turn a head even 9 years later!!!

I've been trying to get some items that need to get done finished today.  This is a day off from the walking regimen at the fieldhouse so I have not gotten more than a couple thousand steps in so far.

This part of NYS is now... "New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency for Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates counties through Aug. 21."  We are OK at this time where I am down in the South Eastern part of Ontario County but we have gotten some hard rain earlier today and as I look out the window it is once again raining.  More here.

Quite unusual for this time of year, I might add.  I have seepage coming in one corner of the basement.  I will be watching that closely.  So far the "pond" behind the cellar steps hasn't overflowed (there is water in it already though).  Only once before I can remember getting water in the basement in August in the 34 years I have lived in this house......  Guess the garden won't need watering tonight. Whistling

I have been working on a display for the O Scale stuff I got from Harold Russell a week and a half ago.  I think I will have a trophy shop here in Geneva make a small sign to put on it telling what it is.  I bought some very nice red oak for the base.  I have done some routing of the front edge and sanding of the piece in preperation of staining it, hopefully tonight.

"I would read Playboy more often, but my glasses keep steaming up." - George Burns (that is for Ulrich and the band....)

Hope you all are safe (and dry) wherever you are!
