Uh nope, doesn't do it at all. In fact, without wanting to disparage your taste in music, I could only listen to a couple of the acoustic songs for more than a few seconds. The others were all just noise to me. I had to stop after about 30 songs, i.e. about 1 1/2 minutes total.

I'm more into 60s and 70s rock as well as Gordon Lightfoot (Canadian eh, what else!), Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crowe, Dianna Krall (also Canadian)..... Sorry, I make no excuse for being old!

Each to his own Steven.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Good Morning!

Our weather is back to normal, which means temps around 65F and a fair chance of rain. Good!

BigDaddy
I am suprised you, or any of us would know that.

Without those books, I wouldn´t have known it either!

Interesting detail: The Yule Marble Co. used to employ a Wyle steam tractor to haul the blocks of marble down a rather steep incline.

A sad accident (which was bound to happen) forced the company to lay tracks. It was still a risky adventure and more than once, a train "joined the birds".

I might be doing a little more gardening action on my layout today. There is only one spot inside the loop of track requiring that green schtuff, so I might as well give it a go - providing I still have enough white glue left.

Have a happy one!

Happy times!

Morning diners,

Too bad dave, you know this time last year I would've said the same thing. To each their own.

I stick to "indie" music it just sounds better than the mainstream stuff.

Anyway that's my "new stuff" I still listen to an extensive range of oldies. A lot of stuff from the 70-80s. (Billy Joel, styx, little River band, Paul simon, simon and Garfunkel, the doobie brothers, Gordon Lightfoot, the chords, lionel richie, the commodores, bob segar and the silver bullet band, Sam cooke, ray charles, cash, the Beatles, elvis, queen, Dean martin, Bobby darin, Andy Williams, the drifters, the coasters, the temptations, the four seasons, the four tops, earth wind fire, Bobby day, bill withers, Otis redding, shall I continue? No I've made my point.

I used to be very jaded about new music, and had a similar attitude about it as you, but then I realized that I'm not 50 or 70, I'm 17 so I should listen to some stuff from my generation, it's been a musical journey.

I don't sing that new stuff I stick to older stuff, like Moon river, A summer place, lazy river, beyond the sea, love story, that's amore, Sunday in new york, this night, chain gang, another Saturday night, under the boardwalk, I've got some Billy Joel stuff I can do but I have to transpose it slightly to get the high notes, but I have to work on original stuff too now, but I'll try to keep the old sound.

Goodluck in your search to get rid of... badda bump, da da dadda da... Laugh

Now straight from the man himself, it's time for some old time rock and roll...

I have been playing the Muppet's 'Badda bump' song over and over again in my head for three days!! It won't quit,

.

Dave, just listen to All About The Bass by Meghan Trainor. That will fix it. However, sometimes the cure is worse that the disease.

Afternoon, Folks!

I got a wee bit of gardening done this morning and now, after some vigorous action with Petra´s vacuum cleaner, I am back to running trains on my terrific tinplate tabletop train set.

Here are the last pics:

My taste in music stopped somewhere in the late 1970s or early 1980s. When the "Saturday Nightfever" broke out, I called it quits. Anything that followed up to this date is not on my radar anymore. Prior to that, folks played music, now they are just "acts" or gigs" and that´s not for me, no thank you!

I start to develop a taste for Celtic tribal music lately - eatch these guys:

Would you like to meet them in a dark alley after sunset?

Happy times!

Morning All!

Lion: Mentioning Lake Superior: I was actually on a shore of that lake last summer. The railroad historical society that I am a member of had their annual convention in Duluth last fall and the hotel/convention center where it was held is on the shore of Lake Superior.

Hobby Front: Not set in stone yet, but Monday should bring the last piece of the new layout into town. (This is actually my third layout.) The section in question is the only piece that I decided to salvage from the old layout. However, almost all the tracck will be relaid. (The car ferry dock is the only track that will not move.) As for the rest, I pretty much have come to the conclusion that other than a tote of what would have been a tourist railroad expansion (rolling stock, track, two power packs, and some building kits), the buildings, and whatever turnouts I can save, I am going to abandon the most of the rest of the old layout. I think I might save a small 2x8 section but that is still up in the air.

Afternoon, everybody!!( Noooorrmm!) 84 and muggy, but a nice day anyhow! In the train room listening to blues and running trains. The southbound Namakagon is running behind me( that's a passenger train). Taking a break from classifying the Spooner Yard.

Lion: I wish I would have known you were going to Duluth. If you came north on Hiway 53 you passed less than 2 miles from me, in the bustling metropolis of Sarona. If you blinked, you missed the turn!! LOL!! I would have loved to meet you and run some trains!! I hope you had time to tour the Duluth train museum, and took a ride on the North Shore Line. Worth the trip alone!

Garry: I would like to send you the wheelsets ( no cost), how can we connect? Maybe Sherriff Steve can hook us up?

Music: I am a blues guy. Years ago, in another life, I played bass and sang in a band. 'Bout killed me! LOL! Blues ,Booze and Babes. Rickenbacker bass with a tube, yes tube Marshall amp. Best sound ever.

My layout is pretty big, 30x 42 basement filler. Sure wish some of you guys lived closer! I really want to host Ops. There's guys around here , but getting together has been a problem. The ones I know have been invited, but life seems to get in the way. The young guy that does my decoder installs is prez of the local club, we just can't seem to get the stars to align for a layout visit!

Oh, well.

We're going to a get-together outside later. Maybe I can talk SWMBO into ridin' the scoots!! She has yet to put a mile on hers this season. I've gone a bunch, including 3 big poker runs.

That's about it for now, hope everyone is good!

Whale, yes. Lion was in Eau Clair for the toy train show, and then went to Duluth. I stayed with the Benedictine Sisters there. Yes I spent a lot of time at the museum, but did not go on the ride. I should have done so.

So yes, I did ride right past your place. There were a lot of stopped trains on that line, the were doing some work or something.

Whale I did post that I was going to eclare.

Either Imgur has just developed a new format from the old one or I accidentally hit a button and completely changed the format of my sight and how I post pictures there.

Is anyone else having problems with Imgur right now or is it just my sight? ....... Thanks

 Afternoon Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer and Ulrich, Rick and Steven what the like, Flo, use my Citi Bank Card.

Got the Gargae / Train room door painted. I hope next year I can afford to replaces it, it is rotten and falling a part. I should have painted it 10 years ago, but at the time we where sure we where going to lose the house thanks to Bank Of Stupid DBA Bank Of America. Looks better but still rotten, but it is a 48 year old wooden garage door. I think mine is the only orginal one left in the small complex we live in.

I plan on painting the front pouch coloumes Sunday and touching up the garage door.

 Later, Ken

Evening diners,

Got out bid in the depressed flat so back to square one.

Dating, ehhh, so I finally just put my cards on the table and asked her if she actually wanted to go out with me or not, she said she does (kinda) but she's to busy to, so I told her whatever she wants and that it's up to her.

I'm cool either way, now it's back to being friends and I can move on.

Music, I kinda haven't gotten anywhere, I've got an idea for another song, just the story of it no lyrics or notes.

Auto, looks like I need a new battery in my truck like tomorrow, so I'll have to figure that out.

Work, still no call from Home Depot, it'll probably be Monday.

Well I'll put a quarter in the jukebox, this is a new song but it sounds like something from the eighties.

Anyways I'll be around.

Steve

Interesting new youtube from the history guy on Custer's younger brother, Thomas, who entered the Civil War as a private, age 17.  He received promotions, some on the account of George and became a brevet major.  Brevet was an unpaid promotion.  In 4 days he was awarded 2 Congressional Medals of Honor (just 20 received 2) capturing 2 battle flags and getting shot in the face in the process.

https://youtu.be/8SLLd7X7dpA

He, George and brother in law, cousin and nephew bought the farm at the battle of the Little Big Horn.  There is controversy about that battle.  Not in a political sense but in a tactical sense.  Custer divided his forces and there are some accounts that he saw Reno's division attacked and did nothing to help.

That's an awsome battlefield.  There are grave markers, supposedly, where they found soldiers.  Practically, that seems hard to believe that they would have thought to do that, back them.  You can clearly see they were chased up the hill and met their end.

On the MR front, I discovered my decoder woes were really a bad engine.  The copper fitting over the brush kept coming off and when I reassembled it, the brush spring was still hanging out.  This was before my recent cataract surgeries so I didn't see it at the time.

I decided the NCE decoder, that I had given up on, would work.  I forgot I set up the led's for a new TCS decoder that had resistors.  With the NCE, the led's didn't even flash, before they blew out.

Still I am ahead one decoder, at the cost of 2 led's.  I also have to figure out how to get rid of a rubbing noise, which I think are the led wires hitting the fly wheels.

Good Evening,

Another scorcher here today, it is 95F right now and we are supposed to hit 100 tomorrow.

I've been missing sailing a lot lately. We sold the boat we had owned for 25 years back in 2009 because we seldom used it.  Sailing was my passion for many years starting with the purchase of my first boat back in '74.  Nothing like the feeling of being on a starboard tack in a 15 knot breeze, healed over about 15 degrees. Likely hit 6 knots in such conditions. Sounds very slow I guess but when it is 3 tons of boat punching through the waves, it seems a lot faster. My wife says I should buy a small boat but I guess I really just like the idea more now than actually having all the hassle of boat ownership.

Gee I hit something and the type got very large.

Have a great evening and stay cool.

Yup, that´s the way it is. But don´t despair - there are plenty of other mothers with pretty daughters around! Takes a little to find them, though, and quite often, the princess turns out to be a frog after you have kissed her. Don´t forget, that the young lady you will (hopefully) spend the rest of your live with is already around!

Happy times!

Morning all. I've been at work non stop with overtime hours. The paycheck will be nice Though.   So that's where I've been lately.

Trains:today my club will be taking our modules out to a community summer fest, and I'll have either my wheeling consist running or my Freelance, we'll see what happens. They want us ready to go at 9:30AM, so, we have to be there around 7:30 this morning until about 7:00pm tonight. Also picked up an Atlas trainman GP38-2 for 80 bucks

Music: I fixed my Marshall guitar amp-the input jack worked it's way loose from the fromt plate, and I didn't have the correct size nut,(metric in an inperial world) for months, but yeah I got it...now I just need to get the effects pedal going. I also write my own songs anc perform at a local open mic night.  I'm also looking at getting a resonator guitar....I have two electrics, one six string acoustic, one and 1 twelve string acoustic, so why not finish the sound possiblities?

House: been getting work done at the house to. The train room will be 25 x 25...so I fit a smaller layout in there. The bathroom needs gutted-leaky toilet ate the floor underneat, and just general updating. i got an estimate for the AC,HEAT,DUCTWORK and electrical lines rerouted done...I got a good guy to do it, it'll be 4,500 for all that I listed. The bathroom will be a part two.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Afternoon!

It´s a lazy Sunday afternoon - just like this:

I have been playing with my trains a little, which is always relaxing. Once I got the wiring done and all the switches and signal work, I can start "real" operation on this tiny layout

I am finding that with the new smaller layout that I seem to be getting it closer to actually running than I ever was on the the old one.

I liked the Beaker video as well. I am reminded of a Jeopardy! answer that tied the Muppets to science. The clue was something to the effect of: These two Muppets characters share their names with science equipment. Question being: Who are Dr. Bunsen and Beaker?

Layout Notes: Tomorrow is the day. The last section of the new layout is scheduled to be moved. Of course that means I will have fun building a whole new yard arrangement. (As I have said, the only piece of track that will be in its original spot is the car ferry dock itself. The dock was never "attached" to the benchwork.) I know that I will end up spending $40-50 on another three way turnout for the lakeshore. That's the only way I think that I will be able to get the all the track that I feel that I need. Even with that, the yard ladder for that area is still going to be quite interesting.

4 Days off in a row. I could get use to this! Big Smile Got the front pouch colmes painted and cleaned off the rear patio. Guess losing the 30 pounds has helped, but still wish I was 30 again.

Need to start working out again. Dug out the old exrices bike made by DB I think. It was one of there better ones around $250.00 20 years ago, thing is big! I all so started lubing up my 18 speed bike. Chain is rusted up solid in a few spots. Will keep spraying it till it starts to flex. Been outside for 13 years now not ridden.

Henery Thank you for the link, I did not know about Thomas Custer. With 2 CMH's you would think folks would remember him. I think is remains where the only one moved from the battle site.
