Going To K-10 Model Trains Friday. Hope they still have a PK 2000 B&O GP 30, if it is still there, I am buying it! I think it has been 2 years now when I got my last engine.
Any one any TYCO Trucks they don't need? My fleet of Tyco Old Dutch Cleanser Hoppers are wearing out. Of the 32 of them I have, around 15 are on the RIP track.

I've worked on every shift this week, just on being called in. Ugh
The C636 saga: Well, turns out the height of the C636 is right (although it looks strange compared to the C628 in the following picture). Turns out the Hi-ad trucks add 5" to the C630s, and the C636 has a heavier frame... The reason the model looks off is because of the gap between the trucks, and the fuel tank is too small.
Jeff, Sorry to hear about the other foot. I just hope that you meant 108.4, I'm pretty sure 208.4 isn't possible... Ken... I would consider replacing Tyco trucks with better quality trucks. I think you would have to mount couplers on the car body instead of on the trucks and that would be an improvement too.

I went to Wally world adn finaly bought what MOH has wanted for days/months/years now..a 3 drawer file cabinet! The top drawer is not a file drawer, but will hold htings like the calculator, etc.
It will either go under the 10 galon fish tank or will go next to MOH's chairside table.
Then I went grocery shopping. spent more money there.
Dunno.
I will take a nap now and fool with the fish tank later. It may not go there, as i think it si wider than the table the tank is on, I will havet to cut a piece of 1/2 plywood {have it} to put the tank on so it doens't damage the filecabinet as it is elcheapo. But it will help hide "important papers" we need to keep, that MOH keeps adding to but wants me to hide somewhere! THe computer room is FULL of schtuff. no room there, so I suggested we get som 2 or 3 drawer filing cabintets to act as end tables. If it works, it works, said MOH. I still want a 4 or 5 drawer deep one for the computer room, though for the "long term stored papers".
well, I think is time for a nap, I have been up since 1;00 am.

Today throug Sunday is the annual Ham Festival in our local town. There will be plenty of food including country ham of course. Each year they try to beat their record baking a giant biscuit. There are a lot of other foods. They have carnival rides, crafts for sale, and games for kids. A nice tradition.

Gary My Old Dutch Hoppers are far from stock. I worked the heck out of the trucks, installed PK 2000 Wheels, body mounted Kadee's and just a tad over NMRA weight. I learned a lot from theses cars.
Vince Can you posted a picture of the hopper? I forgot all about needing the fuel tank! Reason I need the the trucks is two fold. Took a lot of reeming to get the PK wheels to turn freely. A few of them I took off to much from one side. 2nd I ran them a lot! Some have over 500 hours on them, plus I still have some 18 inch turns.

Don't mess around with ice water, get to the horsepiddle! If it is the foot causing it, get it taken care of before your lose the whole leg or your life! We all want you around here for a long time to come...
I just got off the phone with the CPAP Supply place (mail order only) and had my usual totally incoherant conversation with the lady on the other end of the phone. They won't let me do the order yet on line, and they don't use email for it, so I get to have an interesting idiotic chat with a very nice lady at the other end.... She asks my what my vbhosklasgy is and I give her my address. She says, "No! Your pawefhcabahp! I say my what? And so on..... (she wanted to verify my birthdate.)
Today will be busy as usual... May even get to do a bit more on the layout if I work things right.

I got a box in the mail from atlas. They have some sale things on their shop, so I picked some stuff up cheap. I got 2 BN Thrall 4750 covered hoppers and a SOO ACF 4650 covered hopper. The BNs were about 10 bucks each, the Soo was 4 bucks, but didn't include trucks or weights. I had some atlas 100-ton trucks left over, so I used those.
Ken, I've learned that intermountain wheels work in tyco trucks with no modification nessasary. I think I have some though, I just have to find them (and figure out how to tell them from life-like and bachmann ones.
Personally I'd pitch the tyco trucks, and order some accurail trucks. Plug the holes for the tyco trucks with some sprue material and glue. Then drill and tap for a screw. I've done this to a bunch of life-like cars (The thrall-door boxcar and the flat-roof 50' cars are pretty nice IMO)

Temp last night was high. 104.3. Got that down to 101 then called my sister to take me to the ER. She and her husband came over and and found me on the ground in front of my trailer. I couldn't walk. My BIL had to help me to my feet then take me to the car. 11:56pm. On the way to the ER. 12:02am Arrival at ER. By now my temp was down to 99.8. ER staff got me ready for transport and sent me off to St Francis Cabrini hospital in Alexandria. 4:36am Arrival at Cabrini. Temp had climbed back to 102. Two doctors and several nurses desended on me like vultures on road kill. They got the temp back down to 99. One of the docs hooked a bag of Cledamisin (antiboitic) to my IV and the infection ln my foot started to die off. The antibiotics had their usual effect on me and I‘m sorry to say I made the ER floor quite dirty.So I told one of the nurses 'Cleanup on aisle 5.

Ken .... I did not remember you modified the covered hoppers. I have some Tyco freight cars where replaced the trucks as well as installed Kadie couplers to the car bodies.

well, I got the file cabinet installed, and we changed over the 10 gal fish tank to the top of it,. I vacuumed thoroughly where the table had sat. There is an underlining 1/2 plywood "base" {or is it 3/4"?}for the fish tank to distribute weight over the cabinet.
*sad to say* I found boxes [old commercial envelope boxes] FULL of old MR mags and the like. I kept a few and have put most into the recycle bin. I should give them to the great nephew and the two grandpas overseeeing the electrification of his trains at age 5.4 {gotta get that .4 in there you know at his age}. Maybe they can learn something. But they are not home {the grandpas} now, so out they go.
I will go tomorrow morning and get the other filing cabinet they had there at WAlly world..if it is still there. it already has a spot next to MOH's cabinet at chair side. MOH wants one now too. 2 drawer with a 'desk drawer on top" File cabinets in the LR may not be the height of decor, but they are functional and keep the "must keep/important papers" out of sight, but not out of mind.
Should throw a meatloaf in the oven for dinner... so it can cook while i shred papers needing to be shred. WIll fill up the box for the file cabinet with shreded papers for recycling!

As a vet you'd think he'd be entitled, but usually not so. Look at the trouble KEN has with the VA as a vet! My mother had/died of Multiple Sclerosis after 30 years of struggle, do you think the MS Society, who rakes in the dough, had anything to help my mother? NO, not a thing, not a dime! Well, a few pamphlets of "what MS is" is about all {like we didn't know}...the rest went to "research"!!

Low B-12? Have anyone here had low Vitiam B-12 problems? I googled it and sounds a lot like is going on with me.
Bought the B&O GP 30! To bad I am going to have to take it back! As soon as I got home the furances would not come on! Pilot light is on and blower motor will run when I turn it on, after that I am lost. Waitting to hear from are furances guy.
Ironicly The Garage Spaces Heater Started Tonight? I have tried to start it 3 or 4 times this year and the pilot light would not fire. So I was going to blow it out with the commpressior. Tonight before before I blew it out I gave it a try. Lite the first time?
Vince How long is the coal car? I think it is around the same sizes as my other ones, but hard to tell. PM me what you want for it and we will talk. Far as the Tyco Trucks, they push in, no screws.

Yesterday I weathered some cars and put kadees on my kato superliners. I'll try the superliners out with them when I go to the MRR club later today.
Garry, The B&O coal hopper I've had for a while. The coal load came with some other hopper I've sold off a while ago. I've been making my own coal loads, so this one goes out do to being non-standard.
Ken, I also wound up with low B-12 with those blood test earlier this year. the doctor suggested taking a B-12 vitamin supplement. As for the coal hopper, I'm thinking $10 bucks shipped first class. A nice even number. The car is about 7 inches long.
Jeff, sucks to hear about the leg. Know you, you'll figure out a way to adapt and overcome.

I have not been feeling well lately. My foot still hurts, making walking a torture. Adding to that, my heart seems to go roller coaster again, but my health issues seems so little compared to what Jeff has to endure! I am saddened by the fact he lost his "good" foot! Petra´s and my prayers for a speedy recovery. I do hope he has the strength to manage his life and retain his independency! His "home" is rather ill-suited for a healthy man, let alone a guy who needs crutches for every inch he moves. I wish I could help him more, not only giving him moral support. If I´d win a million, I´d build him a home suited for his needs. I feel helpless and sad!
I am now sans a layout. The guy who bought it came by and picked it up. Took a little bit of sweat to get the segments apart, as glue had dripped down the slot between them. Must have happened when I ballasted the track. I still have no idea about its successor. There are just two many ideas in my head, but most of them either require more space or more cash for a first start. I have abandoned the thought of building that tiny Z scale layout. It´s just too small to satisfy my hunger for running a train. Given the spavce I have, it´ll have to be either N scale or Z scale. Although the cash in my wallet gives me an itch to go shopping, I won´t rush in. I just can´t afford another false start!

Here, I don't think they allow you to drive with 2 lower limbs gone.There are regulations covering it. But a lift into the van to sit at the wheel, then use hand controls to operate it. You've got the van now, maybe you need to adapt it?

Naturally it had been sold, so I called the nearby other store,a dn they had them, and held one for me until I got there. Natrually, I spent MORE than the filing cabinet and the hanging file folders for it. About $100 more!

I like modeling in N Scale it's the perfect size for me. Although I model the scale I don't have a layout. All I got are some freight cars in BNSF and diesels in Union Pacific.
After we got a dog in 2012 I struggled to get a layout running, but I still don't have room for one. I'm going to wait for MR's new special issue How to Build Small Model Railroads if they have any good ideas. If not I might use their techniques.
Ulrich .... I once modeled in N Scale, and it is amzing how much can be done with it. I do hope you can be using your excellant modeling skills soon.

The Ham Festival was soaked with rain yesterday. Still looks like more rain today. Bad news.
Merchants in town have concrete pigs at their entrances which are creatively painted and decorated. .... The book store has a pig dressed like a Shakespear character, and it is named "Hamlet"... One business had a pig in a flight suit with goggles. Jets and wings were strapped on. Sign said "Swine Flew". .... The Sherriffs Office has a pig dressed (painted) in a deputy uniform. ... There are maybe 40 or so such pigs in town. The pigs stay year round; not just for the festival.
