CNCharlie

Dennis, so sorry to hear about Sammie. We have had Westies for the past 30 years and it is never easy when they get sick.  How old is she? Sure is a cutie. Absolutely nothing like a Westie but then I might be just slightly biased.

CN Charlie

She is over 12 years old.......she will be 13 this coming March.

I got bad news today from my bank. Apparently someone had taken my car number and spending it in Illinois. Sadly I'm going to talk to them tomorrow after I talked Pete about my freight car pre-orders 2 days ago.

The shock is still with me but I wonder how much money they spent. I feel sorry for Pete (hobby dealer) I hope he doesn't believe I'm making this up.

I'll follow up tomorrow with the somewhat details.

I am off tomorrow before heading back to work Tuesday. I have a long weekend coming in a few weeks so that is good. Im off the 17,18,19 and 20th. We might head to Toronto for the day on one of them.

 Evening Dinners

Flo I will have a Beer Please.

What a Day, I am beat! For only a 5 hour day I was ran in the ground! It was a beautiful day, so I thought it would be slow, I was wrong! Flood gate opned at 12:30 and I was not alone till 3:30. Two customers where there for over 2 hours. While I only had 7 customers they all took for ever! Store closes at 5:00 and around 4:00 I was alone and got the morning paperwork done. Pulled in all the flags, signs and such at 4:30 and thought I was home free, wrong again! Last customer came in at 4:35 and while they bought, a $129.00 sale is not worth working a hour after closing!

Little Good News For A Change If the scales are reading right, I have lost 2 pounds this week! Surprise At this rate I will weigh what I did when I was fit by 2018! Hmm Just kidding, I hope. Whistling

Evening guys

Just got back from work. I'm more of a morning person...

I got that C636 in the mail Saturday. I've written a review on some other forums... Overall I like it, just some things I thing could have been done better or differently. I do love the loksound decoder it came with. I perfer my locos with sound to be too loud out of the box as they can be turned down; rather than the other way around (like my GP15, can't turn it up?)

But on a side note, since I got this engine I have been working at a feverish pace on my 2 C425s. I got the custom fuel tanks mostly finished. Just have to primer them and check to see if they need some touch-up in areas. Then a can of black will do it. I would still need to order beacons, antennaes, and correct horns.

anyways, just an update. i'm off to catch some ZZZs

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I also had my credit card comprmoised a few years back, what a headache that was. The bank was great in helping me through it.

~I have just ONE particular card I use online, out of town or in "Sketchy places"-such as trading posts at fairs, etc. {which I try to avoid}. It usually gets comprimised once a year. The first time I got a call about it, I called the card company back and they asked me if I "had just bought plane tickets to Bangladesh", or someplace like that.  I said "absolutely NOT". THey went over the recent charges from the last several transactions since the last statement, and there we found the beginning of the flase fraudulent charges. Each year for a while I was getting a new card and finally they stopped about 2 years ago. Everytime I use it, I expect it to get compromised. It is not the highest balance card I have either, though I would like to have necessary options tmy other card provides!

~I DO have a couple cards, the other two get used around town and pay me back for purchases I make.

~I once authorized auto-deduct payments from the checking account. Twice. AND THAt got compriosed by fraudulent "auto deduct payments" were supposedly "hacked' and resulted in Monthly  charges being deducted weekly, and anual charges being deducted monthly! I stopped THAT ONLY by CLOSING THE checking account out. Never did get all of my money back and of course those companies I no longer do business with.

~I DO have two auto-deducts...one is the Credit Union loan, I had no choice, and the other is my secondary medical insurance, which is the best way to do as if I am say in the hopsital, it will autodeduct from my auto deposit check and goes on without me ahving to write a check or charge to a charge card.It is safer that way, so far no compaints.

~I learned VERY QUICKLY NOT to use a DEbit card anywhere! We don't even know the pins for ours anymore! They are locked in  the safe.

In short, angelob6660, I sympathize with you, and hope you get your funds back, but I will bet they drained the account as much as possible.

Tongue Tied

Happy Monday!  (I'm a Patriots fan.)

Kind of an OK weekend.  I got stuff done on the trains, which was my primary goal.  Not much to see, but a lot went on "under the table," which is fine for us model railroaders.  I have 4 Tortoise-controlled turnouts to install, and a DS64 quad stationary decoder to drive them.  Two are running, but there's still frog wiring to do, and the others will be complete shortly.

I went to the first train show of the season, too.  It was a bit of a disappointment.  There were a few display layouts and a few vendors.  I picked up a used flatcar cheap, with Life-Like Talgo trucks and horn hooks.  My workshop is well stocked with what it takes to remedy those problems.  I also got a Railway Express reefer, in an Athearn blue box but with "Walthers-Athearn" on the end.

Sunday night I made Thai Curry Soup.  It's one of our favorites.  The spices come in a package, but the shrimp and vegetables are all cut fresh and stir-fried.  Dumplings come from the Chinese market over by my LHS.  We had a chicken Saturday, so that produced a hearty broth base for the soup.  Yummy.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good Morning!!!

Just coffee please. Gotta get some stuff done.

Ken- sorry about the health issues with the family.

And sorry to hear about the doggy. I forget who posted, but the dogs name is Sammi. I agreed with whoever said dogs should never be sick.

This weekend was a bust. Due to the rains the elevator was closed this weekend so that meant Brenda was home. That in itself wouldn’t have been a problem except….this just happened to be the first weekend of the Spoon River Drive. If you know what it is, then you know. If you don’t well, easiest to Goofle it. Lets just say it takes a while to do when you have to stop and look at all the “shtuff” people sell because what the official site leaves out is the MASSIVE amounts of garage sales and sales venders along the way. Some whole towns set up like one big flea market.  ANYway, did that all day Saturday and then when I thought I was done, Sunday she said we were going again because we didn’t get to see it all. You can’t see it all. I hope they work next weekend because that is the last weekend.

It’s not like I HATE doing it, it’s like shopping with her. Not my favorite thing.

Best get a movin.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good Afternoon!

I woke up this morning with my right foot hurting like h.ll! Must have done something wrong yesterday. Each move sends big shots of pain through my leg, but it is quite OK when I just don´t move at all. Good excuse for being a couch potato today!

With nothing else to do I spent some time detailing this little Z scale layout a little bit more. I still quite like it, but the second thoughts remain. Well, here is the drawing:

More thinking to be done!

Make it a happy day!

Ulrich I do admire some of your work it is quite good what I would like to know is what size is the room you are using for your layout ? Could you go around the walls with a lift out section where the door ways are just an idea I've built and torn down many different ones of my own went from a 30 x 80 room to my basement now a lot smaller

well

Ulrich: I am not so sure we are allowed to such a word here!

I had all weekend to both seeth and to calm down.

~called the plumber, they finally agreed to remove the extra charge for his return to do the job RIGHT finally that they already charged me for! GOOD>

~ the insurance company lady called me as she received a message I was "unhappy aobut somehting regarding my policy" I explained i got the stack of denial letters. I did not cathc on that there were repeats in there. The Denials are for to make up my $200 deductible. I had asked my insurance agent a long time ago "to whom and when do I pay the deductible?" His answer Was "we'll find out sooner or later". Not the most descriptive, and certainly not an explaination, but I said "well alright, for now". NOW I know to whom I pay! I still that idea is WRONG, the insurance company should take my deductible and use it for full payment of the bills involved.

~ANd yes, i have no choice about the "independent reviewer" {whom I STILL think is paid for by them..has to be they don't work for free, you know, so i don't know how "independent" they actually are}, if I don't go, then they will refuse to pay ANYTHING. Shady, I still think. I should not be worrried. But I WON'T be giving him ANY regular health insurance cards, my D/L {except to show as ID} or my medical history to copy. All's he gets is that which pertains to my constant pain and exacerbation {?} of my back issues post accident! Ces't tout! {oh, Morticia, that's French!}

~Got a call from the regualr Dr. {our GP} htat MOH will get shingles vaccine when we get our flu shots on the 14th.

~I have to call the PT place as the orthopedic Surgeon wants me to go to PT. I DON'T know WHY they all think PT is a panacea to cure what all ails you? Hasn't helped me any along the way. I think is a waist of time, but insurance companies require it, liek getting an xray before an MRI, whne really the MRI is the only-est, best-est thing to show what is wrong and how bad {though the Dr. says my shoulder  is "not as bad as i imagined by your pain description"! DUH!..It HURTS like that word ULRICH attempted to use above, that's all he needs to knOW!. The pain med's I  have I shouldn't have ANY pain, and the shot he gave me didn't help anyway! I am NOT looking for surgery, mind you,  but if it is the only thing that works, so be it.

I had less trouble when he did my carpal tunnel surgery. ALL I had to do was to say "My hands are numb all the time" and off we went to surgery. Apparently there is no real way to tell anything much until he opens you up....the right hand he said "oh yeah, it needed to be done", the left one he said "if it wasn't bothering you now, it would have soon enough". MUCH relief after! Thank you.

~what else? done a bunch 'o' things too.

~MOH is home early, sick client again. Started out but had to end early. MOH is sleeping now, as this cold has a way of making you do that, and mOH is sure a sleeper! I am the insomniac in the family!

well, I'd best get on with things.

Have A GREAT AFTERNNON!

MikeGTW - I actually don´t have a room for myself, which I could use for a layout. The only place I have is a shared room - office for two, guest room, laundry room - all in one little room. The maximum space I could dedicate to a layout is something like 2" by 10". In N scale or Z scale I could build an empire in that space, but I lack the funds to do that. What I am looking for is a little roundy-rounder with some operation, but also with a realistic atmosphere. I am still looking into various options, but most of them fail due to lack of funds. We may have a move coming up soon, and chances are that I will even have less space available. So whatever I will be doing, it must be fully portable and fit into our little car.

On a side note- my "Add quote to your post" - function isn´t working - does any of you computer aficionados know how to cure this?

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I would like a cup of Hot Chocolate for the moment, please.  Yep, that time of year again...

I was exhausted last night.  Two long, busy days out at the Museum, and I am not used to being on my feet for 7 or 8 hours a day any more.  Yesteday I did find that one of my passengers just happened to one of my students from when I first came to Geneva.  He was also in the same Boy Scout troop as my sons.  IIRC the guy is an Eagle Scout.  We kept looking at each other every time we past and finally he was just about to say something when I spoke up and said, "Are you from Geneva?"  He immediatelty grinned from ear to ear and shouted, "Mr. Howard, it is you!"  We took a few minutes to catch up with what has been going on in our lives (I was younger than he is now back when I was his music teacher....).  I also got the whole family a tour of the 80 Tonner locomotive before they got back on the trolley to head to the NYMT.

OK, in honor of Galaxy and his words of wisdom, here are some from me:

"There are times when you have to choose between being human and having good taste."          - Bertolt Brecht

"The capacity of human beings to bore one another seems to be vastly greater than that of any other animal."
          - H. L. Menkin

"If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, it's full potential, that word would be 'meetings'"          - Dave Barry

Have already been running around putting out fires for a few organizations I am involved with today.  Also got some grocery shopping done and stopped at the Vet to get more dry cat food for the boys.  I have to make a troop visit tonight as the commissioner and will be having a (hopefully) short meeting with Mr. Scoutmaster on rechartering the troop this fall.  They have one very big problem.  The Scoutmaster was trained for his position way back about 30 years ago, can't find his card proving he took the old course, the old council lost all the old records when the basement of the office got flooded about 15 years ago, the new council just passed a resolution that all people working with scouts MUST have proof of training to be reregistered, the scoutmaster has openly said he is NOT taking the training again (even though it is very different than it was when he took it) and I get to deal with him about all of this......  I know that sounds like more than one problem but it boils down to the last little bit of it!  It is possible he may be passing the torch to one of the Assistant Scoutmasters who is trained or will get it soon.

I plan to disappear into the basement and do some minor little things with the hobby this afternoon.

Sending good thoughts to all in distess on the forum today.  Sounds like a soap opera in here again at times......  It does....  Blessings to all!

The quote works for me, the spell check doesn't. Dunno.

Good afternoon. It's 67° with 86% humidity. The high will be 75° with a high chance of rain.

Was feeling almost like seasick last night so I took a Dramamine tablet before bed. Woke up around an hour ago. No plans for today except to stay dry.

Post office just dropped off book now. I think that is the first time I have heard them come so late, usually they are never later then around 5. I might browse over it quick tonight before bed. I also orderd some of my favorite pens ( Pilot retractable ) Amazon usually has them cheaper then in stores. I might go back and order a pack of red and black ones. I usually use good ones at home and cheap dollar store ones at work ( I lose too many to use good ones, lol )

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Work Was Plasant Today. Paul (GM) brought in around 20 Model Railroader Magazens today for me to read. He has let me bring them home. I will be taking them to the VA Hospital Tuesday in case there is a lot of waiting time. Paul and I talked alot about HO Scale trains today. Had a few sales and made a little extra $ wise.

VA Visit Getting my eye checked and will have my blood test done Tuesday. I am hoping my A1C test has came down some more. In Janury, it was 8.15, then Feburay 8.0, next time around May it was 6.9. I am hoping for a 6.5 or lower.

  See you all Tuesday, Ken

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!

October 7th,2014!

WEll, Not much to report this AM, except is warmer than the last two day. Leftover dishes already done, preparing to go to Wally world.

Jeremy B.- Pens are like socks in the laundry...a lot of them tend to go missing!

today's quotable Quotes;

It's surprising how much memory is built around things unnoticed at the time. -Barbara Kingsolver, novelist, essayist, and poet (b. 1955)

If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.

We have it in our power to begin the world over again.

The only journey is the one within.

MAKE it a GREAT DAY!

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

 HO and N Scale.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
