Hello folks.  I'm not a regular here, but just thought I'd drop by for a late night black decaf & slice of pie before I turn in.  Peach if you've got it; otherwise apple.   Just wanted to let you guys know tomorrow Sept. 14 is Alex Warshal's birthday.  I have spies who told me.  Might be nice to wish him a happy one.

Trees coming down are not very reassuring, Jeff.  Glad to know there was no serious damage & somebody will get good use of the wood.

I'm off to bed as soon as I finish off the pie.  G'nite all.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo Beer Pleases.

Work Stunk Be side being a bad sales day, I had a late customer yet! Bang Head  While they bought, they bought poop and I did not make anything extra besides the 1/2 hour over time. Well, that is $6.50 so better than nothing I guess. Made it to the sporting good store that had used weight plates. As luck will have it they only had one 1.25 pound plate and I only need one! Yes All so bought two 2.5 Lb, two 5 Lb, and two 10 Lb plates. They only had one used curling bar and it used the spin on ends, I hate that type. They had a new bar with the ends I like, but I did not like the krunkling on the bar, I perfer a smooth bar plus it was $38.00 so that was over my budget.

I bet after I left the people that worked there where wondering why I was buy exercises equment!Whistling Bet they don't get to many people as big as me buying stuff from them! Laugh

Working out. Had a good workout tonight and was real happy with the bench press. I will be upping the max weight next time I bench.

I have started taking a Amino Acid Supplment called L-Arginine. Helps with blood circulation, lowers blood pressure and helps with muscle growth.

Mr B or Ulrich Can one of you post a photo of a corner clamp? I have never heard of one and I could sure use one the next time I build.

Shooting Pain In The Right Foot. It started around 7:45 PM and I have had it now for all most three hours. Pain is in the top of the right foot and comes between every 15 seconds to 45 seconds some times a little longer. On a scale of pain it ranges from a 3 to a 5 out of 10. Seems to stop when I have full weight on it? Sure going to make it hard to sleep tonight if it keeps going!

 See you all Sunday.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill for my decaf please....

I got a few things done today....  Drove over to the Menonite farm stand near Phelps, NY to get a couple ears of corn.  Gotta enjoy it while it is still in season you know.  Canned isn't nearly as good and frozen... Blech!  Got back to Geneva to find that the farmer who has a stand for a couple months during the summer had a big stack of fresh corn.  That stand is right around the corner from me.  I went to the grocery store and picked up a few items, filled the PiP with fossilized Dinosuar Dung and came home.  The tank took exactly 7 gallons of the stuff and I had driven 595 miles on that tank.  Only got 85mpg.  Not bad.  Sun finally came out for a while this afternoon.  Felt good!

Did a bit more on the layout this afternoon.  I will have to build a bridge with a curve and continue the 26 to 28" radius over the bridge to get everything lined up the way it should with the other end of the return loop...  Can be done, just a bit more of a challenge.  This bridge will also be a girder bridge, but will be a through type.  I will be doing some other stuff on the part that is done before I turn my full attention to building another bridge.  Here is the bridge abutment where it goes over the track in the cut:

Jeffrey, glad somebody took down and can use the wood from the tree.  It also sounds like the other one will be coming down shortly.  Good!

Time to call it a night.  I will be working train crew tomorrow out at the museum.  Prayers for all in need!

Good evening. Compared to the last two days it's been dry and quiet. It's 70° with 72% humidity. Cloudy.

The lightning strikes of the last two days blasted two trees in my yard, both less than ten feet from my trailer. One is already felled and gone thanks to one of the neighbors. I look for the other one to be gone within the coming week.

That's it for today. See y'all tomorrow.

Jeffrey, get those trees taken out ASAP! I don't think your home could take another direct hit from a pine tree!

The smaller of the two, say about fifty feet tall is already down and gone. One of the neighbors decided he needs fire wood for the coming winter and came over with his chain saw. A friend of his can climb trees faster than a paranoid squirrel and he brought him along. The friend climbed three-quarters of the way up the tree, tied a rope to it and slid back down. The reason for the rope? The wind was blowing to the east and we wanted the tree to fall to the west. So I measured out sixty feet, tied the rope to the trailer ball of the truck then took up the slack then tensed it up. The neighbor made his cut on the east side of the tree and when it started falling I punched the gas and that was that. It took them about an hour and a half to cut the tree up and another hour to get it out of my yard. I told him he's more then welcome to the second one. He says he knows somebody.

Jeff - you are certainly the only person I know who got struck by an engine three times and survived it without major damages. The lightning must have really been close by!

You won't believe how close! There are two trees that're going to need to be cut down within a years time. Both are within ten feet of my trailer.

Hey Jeffrey, I hope you cna get them down before they damage you.

We live on the edge of a forrest, currently beign cleaned out by the new owners...it was landlocked, so the plumbers who live down the road and have their trailer on their own property bordering it bought it. But, I digress, we once paid a tree man a couple hundred dollars to take down some tress making MOH nervous, and then got the park to pay to have more removed. I think it may be time for us  to have more removed. If any tree back there falls, it will squash the Master BR and the bath! If it happens while we are in bed, we may be stuck! Or worse!

Jeffrey, Is there enough left in the house fund to pay a tree jockey to take them down? Or can the Owner to whom you pay rent pay for them to be removed?

Cool gray overcast day here. cooler, grayer, overcast day tomorrow. They claimed "partly sunny today", and claim "partly sunny tomorrow"...where is this "partly sunny" they speak of? I do hope this is not the start of the "perpetual gray cloud" settling in for the next 6 or so months!

SOmehow I have a kink inmy back left side, like getting kicked in the kidneys. I think form gettting on/off the stupid table for the MRI of my shoulder, I think I twisted wrong, those things are not wasy to get on/off of if you have problems!

well, dinner is yet undecided. I could use the veal chunks in sauce over noodles, or what have you...MOH is sleeping now so I don't know desires for dinner there. I have sausage to saute for the "make in the crock pot lasagna sauce packet". dunno, seems like work and takes 4-8 hours anyway. getting late now.

I guess that aobut ti. wasn't going to post, but Jeffrey made me do it {LOL}

Mornin' everyone....  Well close to morning I guess.

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes (while the buleberries are still in season up here in the North), some reasl NYS Maple Syrup, a nice sausage patty, and lots and lots of dark roast coffee for my R&GV RR mug.  Thank you Ma'am.

Woke up this morning and the furnace was running.........  Currently 49°F outside with the day's high set at 62°F.  Dark, cloudy, and raining here in the Finger Lakes Region as well.  Probably making enough electricity right now to operate the 15w CFL on the shelf next to me.  Yep, that dark here.

Jeffrey, get those trees taken out ASAP!  I don't think your home could take another direct hit from a pine tree!  Glad ro see your head is harder than those HO locomotives....  You don't need any more trips to the horsespittle than you have already!

I have a lot of little items to tackle today.  Need to make a run to the grocery store for several items I didn't put on the list for last time, update my email list for the NMRA Division Membership, get an email out to them that the lastest issue of the newsletter is online, pack up the Region Laptop to take with me tomorrow to the museum hoping the guy who it gets passed onto is working on the trolley tomorrow.  Get a bit more done on the layout, send out a couple requests to division members to see if they can open up their layouts for the October Fall Meet for us, and several other items....

Best get myself moving.  Lots to do as always around here.

Good Afternoon!

I must have been caught in a wrestling match with a 300 lbs. gorilla last night - my entire body is aching and I can hardly move without pain. As they say, when you are ver 40 and you wake up in the morning without any pain, you´re dead Laugh

I won´t be doing much for the rest of the day, maybe watching some steam videos on the tube. Got my corner clamp yesterday and I am itching to give it a try...

Good morning. It's 62° with 100% humidity. The high will be 78° with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

No sign-off post last night. Sorry about that. I was busy fixing the C628. Hitting my head was a bit more than the motor could take and it broke loose from it's mounting. I had to mix some epoxy and secure it back in place and put the drive shafts back in place. Then I moved the heavier locos to the BACK of the display rack. Athearn F units and Atlas FP7's  mostly.

No plans for today.

Hey Sarah, a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Thanks.

Jeffery it seems that we got heavy thunderstorms today. But the weather here called for clear skies in Tucson. It's a very intense rain storm loud enough to set car alarms off.

I been sick the past four days but I continue to work and acting acting that everything is normal. Tomorrow is a new day pulling weeds since they will be easy to pull out. Well good night diners let's see if I'll post an update later.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a cup of hot chocolate....  Yep, that time of year already!  Currently 45°F outside, Huh?  Yes that is correct, currently 45°F here in the Finger Lakes.  Won't get much colder tonighht, but will stay in the 40's all night and only get up into the 50's tomorrow.  I may turn on the heat to 65° before I go to bed tonight.  I like to do winter camping, but not inside the house....

cudaken
Jeffery I must have missed something, how did you get hit in the head with a train engine anyway?

I heard Jeffrey was over on the wrong side of the tracks and.....  What's that?  Oh!  it was a model locomotive that hit him, I thought he broke one of the 12" to the foot ones....  Nevermind.        Well I still see him posting in that place over there across the tracks every now and then when I walk by...  What am I doing over there?  Oh....  Uh.... nothing, really!

I found out tonight while working on the layout that there is no way a straight bridge over the tracks will allow the tracks to meet up without a very bad S curve on the line....  I had been afraid of that.  Just means I will have to build a curved bridge instead of doing what I had planned on doing.

My son stopped by and borrowed my little trailer to get the plywood he was going to get a year ago when he borrowed the trailer the last time.  I told him he has to get it back and help me take it over for NYS inspection mext week!  Time will tell!  I gave him a bunch of green peppers from the garden, a zucchini squash, and half the eggplant lazagna I made a couple days ago.  They got enough for the 3 of them to have it for supper tonight.  I had half of what was left for my dinner.

Still have a couple things to get done before I head to bed tonight so I best get moving.  Prayers for all in need!

Apparently you missed a BIG somthing! In both cases, close lightning strikes knocked the locos off my display rack. Yesterday I hit on the right arm by a GP7 while another GP7 hit me on the head. Then today an Athearn remotored AHM C628 struck me on the head.

Yesterday we had intense thunderstorms and heavy rains. I also got popped on the head by a Bachmann GP7 (14.6 ounces, Digitrax DCC) that fell off my display rack. Today is a carbon copy! EXCEPT! Today I got walloped by an Athearn remotored AHM C628. (14.8 ounces, Digitrax DCC).

He is probably SO LUCKY that many others in the "crowded restaurant" YGW claims it was didn't want to do the same thing, and followed a different religious leaning,

Had someone started it, I might have followed suit myself, like you I was in better shape back then.

Unfortunately, they are amongst us, and some of them actually VOTE here on this territory!

We'd best be careful, a patriotic post is fine, but a religious-hating or other people hating-crime agreements could turn ugly here and get some of us banned!

Oh, and Jeffrey, and others, thanks for your service!

Well

I stepped putside to go get the mail. STEPPED BACK IN real quick-like. at 58F it was a Little too chilly for just a T-shirt. I needed a jacket. The road curves around toward us, but where it is a straight "T" off the main road is a "hallway" or "tunnel" where the air GETS COLD when travelling through there, and cuts right through you. Even in winter, with a heavy t-shirt, a fuzzy micro-fleece shirt {today's answer to quilted flanels},  a woolen scarf over the chest and my heavy winter coat {along with heavy gloves, basball cap and the jacket's hood pulled over} is NOT ENOUGH to deter the wind form cutting you in half. Oh, can't wait!

MOH is already concerned about buttoning down the house for winter. Its a little early I say, but maybe not if they have snow in CA to the N, and we are supposed to get colder temps in the N Mid-WeSt already. Usually the back A/C comes out around the first/mid of Dec. maybe this year it comes out earlier. The other one is wrapped and tied/taped together. I need to get the furnace serviced and the kitchen drain cleared away. There may be lots of dripping water in our future. Of course in FEb, I will WISH for the 58F! This summer went by so fast, and never seemed like it, here in the NE was much cooler than usual. I hope mild weather stays til mid-November.

We each have a Hook of "commonly used/rotating" garments to hang up on so we don't have to go digging inthe closet. I changed out all my Hawaiian shirts and put up three dress casual short sleeves and 3 dress casual long sleeves. Its after Labor day, no longer need to wear the florals! I noticced today doing the laundry MOH has changed out to a longer sleeve temporary wardrobe too. Then the temp. wardrobes get rotated too to have variety during any season. UGH!

With my shoulders as they are, I cannot any longer reach behind nad pull off a sleve of a long sleeve shirt or coat without great pain, so I will have to suffer and adjust to pre-pulling the sleeve off, and slinging it around the back and hope the other hand catches it to pull off a coat.

Perhaps when the MRI gives the orthopedist a direction in which to go to remove the calcium deposits and we get that done, I will be able once again to reach behind me and pull off long sleeves!

well, another load of laundry is done, and I am alone for dinner tonight as MOH is wiht a client for dinner tonight.

Balanced th budget again, and adjusted next month's, and I am well pleased with how it comes out, unless barring any unforseen medical bills popping up {which there will be for me some} we are on a good track FINALLY for once!

A local chain is having a sale on everythign in the store, and that includes the bedding, which we DO need a new mattress, i said we should just wait as if we can stay onthe path I have for the budget-which allows for SOME contingencies- and even for the repairs upcoming on the Kia, we will be better off in the spring and I'd feel better if we 'slept on it" until then. I know, I know, bad pun.

That about it.

Only 13 more days after today to get me a Birthing-day present! I am forewarning you! I wil now be planted in the "fifty-somethings"...I know, young to some of you and old to others! But, "fifty is the new thirty"...so really I am only still 30-something. Yeah and my body says "85".

have fun and a good wekend iff'en I don't stop in.

Hey all

Sorry havent been around in a while. Not from lack of trying . Life has slipped into overdrive on w**k front and home front.

For me 9-11 was very real. In our church we had people who were in the pentagon at the time it was hit. One fellow was blasted and thrown against the opposite wall in his office. Our sister church in the area that we had a hand in helping to get off of the ground one of their members was killed. She was in the pentagon too. The husband took it VERY HARD. He went to the pentagon and sat for days on the curb , sobbing, as they tried to sort it all out.

A guy I work with was at the pentagon that day as the plane hit. He said that there were two or three men on the helicopter pad outside, as the plane approached they were pointing at the plane and seconds later when the plan hit they just "disappeared", blown into eternity.

I was at work and recieved a call from a coworker. At lunch time I went to a local dive and watched in horror as they replayed the planes hitting. I will NEVER FORGET a muslim man who was in that crowded resturant who when he saw the plane hit the tower he started to celebrate. I have never wanted to do physical harm to anyone but that day I wanted to hit that guy and pummel him into the ground. I am still angry at my self for not beating him up. I still want to hit him. But my God says vengence is his. I will have to settle for that.

It is odd all these years I still get tense and angry about what those fanatics did to my country and my friends.

Gotta get back to w**k will check in later.

Garry, I forgot to mention what a nice photo of the Blue Angels that is.  I used to work in a building that was adjacent to the air base where they had air shows.  One Thursday afternoon, the Blue Angels arrived for the Saturday show.  They buzzed our building at treetop level, so close that I could read the numbers on the underside of the wings.  On the next pass, the did it inverted and I could read the numbers on the top side of the wings.

Ulrich, I've got a corner clamp, too.  It really makes it easier to assemble benchwork, and I'd recommend one to anyone doing that kind of work.  Good move.  Have you gotten together with any of the Fremo people yet?

Good Afternoon!

It´s sunny, but quite cold outside - the way I like my weather! Fall is my favorite season. I like the colors of fall, the crisp air and the scent of winter...

I am up to nothing today. I even have not unpacked the tool I ordered. It´s a corner clamp which will help me making perfectly square corners when building the modular benchwork. I got a for just a handful of bucks in a sale. I don´t know how I did that in the past, somehow there was always a hand lacking.

The new meds have not yet kicked in, so I am not feeling too well.

Have a happy one!

Mr. B .... I know what you mean in your last sentence. It never ends.

Last couple of days I have been installing tiny grab irons on Walthers passenger cars. This not the most fun model railroading chore.

I hope everybody is having a happy Friday!

Cheers!

Friday!

Our daughter will be dropping by this weekend.  I legally own her car, so it has to be registered here, and that means it has to be inspected here.  So, we swapped cars and I got that done for her.  Ended up costing me a bundle, as it needed struts and a pair of tires.  When I saw how bad one of the struts was, I wouldn't have let her drive it like that, anyway.  Still keeping her safe from harm.  Once a Daddy, always a Daddy, I suppose.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Good morning. It's 76° with 96% humidity. The high will be 90° with a slightly better than fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Feel better today. My headache from yesterday's bonk on the head by a Bachamnn GP7 is gone. Now just waiting on my Home Health nurse to call. Other than that I have no plans.

Morning guys

Just getting ready for work now. Cool day out today and looks like things are going to remain that way for the next week or so.

Played some NHL last night and may pick up the new madden football game tonight after work. I have to work tomorrow too but then am off Sunday. So that will be my day to cut grass and clean up the garden. I also have to cut a few others lawns that day too.

Well I should gte going, I will drop back in sometime tonight

Have a good day

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

9-11-01 I was a manager for Midas at the time. We had the TV on in the lobby and I saw the second plane hit. Sad I just don't understand all the hate the world has!

Work Over all a pleasent day. Had a couple of good sales and Paul wanted to talk HO trains at the end. He worked 4 years in a hobby shop and was telling me how much a engine was back then, $15.00 for a good one! Laugh Thinking about taking in the Bachmann EZ comand, the Y6b and some track so he can see DCC first hand.

Work Out Yep hit it again and it felt good. I still need some small plates and a two bare dumb bell handles and collar's. Found a sporting good store that sales second hand equment near the Fairview Heighs store. It is worth checking out, I need one 1.25 pound plate, one 2.5 pound plate, two 5 pound plates and two 10 pound plates and would like to have a second EZ Curle bar like the one I have now. I be in heaven if they have a cheap Preacher Curle Stand! Yes

Have a lot to do Friday. So I better head in.

Evening guys

Just stopping in. Had something to eat when I got home and got a couple games in on NHL 15. Still debating If I want to pick up the latest Madden game also. I like to play video games in free time when the weather turns cold out in addition to working on the railroad.

Jeff ... Wow! ... Glad you were not hit by the lightning.

Below is a photo I took last Saturday from a boat on Lake St. Clair while we were in Michigan.

You can see two of the six Blue Angle jets that were in the air. ... They can fly close to the ground and are very loud.
