Good Evening Folks!

The Internet was down for a couple of hours during the day, but it seems as if I have not missed anything important. I tried to locate a source for that critter kit, but it is sold out at all the places I was able to find. I set a message to the Regner people, if ´n when they will have it available again, but no answer yet - a big Sigh

Wit nothing better to do, I played around with the plan. I know I should stop this, but it is all I can do for the moment.

Let´s hope the run another batch of those kits!

Have a good one!

Hi All,

It is that time of day when it is still morning or afternoon depending on which time zone you are in. Currently it is 34 with an expected high of 55 under clearing skies. We had some rain and s**w yesterday. Not a lot on the valley floors, but quite a bit in the foothills and mountains.

Day off for me, so have one load of laundry going and mad a grocery shopping list. I will get to that once the clothes come out of the dryer. Then I plan on running trains and and w**king on a some scenery stuff or buildings.

Jeff - your creativity in Native Fury is amazing. Hope you get to feeling better.

Johnboy - Hope the MRI went well and they figure what is going on and can take care of it.

  Prayers to all in need.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 Special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast please.  What?  Why yes, I do feel pretty good this morning.  Tossed and turned for a couple hours trying to get used to having a machine hooked up to my nose, but all told, not terribly uncomfortable and the machine said I got 10.5 hours of use last night.  Actually slept part of the night on my back.  Haven't done that in over 40 years....

Galaxy, love those snake oil ads!  I used to love W. C. Fields 20 minute long routine for "Mother Myrtle's Snake Oil".  "IT CURES HOARSENESS!!!"

Garry, thanks for the kind words!  I hope it turns out well enough for what is planned for it...

Best get myself moving as I have lots of stuff to get done.

Later!

Where would we be without these funny quack ads? Medical quackery is the practice of aggressively promoting an unproven medical treatment.  The high point of quackery in the US was the 1800's.Cure-alls in the form of patent medicines (who hasn't seen he 'snake oil salesmen in the westerns?) and miracle devices were everywhere.

Quacks could capitalize on people's fears to make huge profits with few (if any) legal repercussions. Medicine was disorganized in those days and there was little to stand in their way. These frauds would market these 'miracle' cures to the average citizen on the street. Even though some of these quacks were true frauds many were simply misinformed and really believed in their claims.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a hot cup of decaf please.

Jeffrey, hope you feel better in the morning!

I got all fitted for the CPAP Machine early this afternoon...  It is all set up on the dresser by the bed to see if I can get it to work tonight.  It will be a new experience I bet. Whistling  Nice thing is that as long as I use it like I am supposed to Medicare and my private insurance will pay the whole cost for it.  It was quite comfortable when I tried it on at the office, so hopefully I will have no problems with it.

I spent this afternoon cleaning up and putting away gardening stuff.  Drained the watering hose and got it put away in the shed.  Put away a couple shovels and rakes that I had out.  i will need to mow lawn once more, but will wait until the tree next door has lost all its leaves.  It lost about half today.

Johnboy, hope the M<RI went well and they can now get to work helping you feel better!  Keeping you in my prayers...

Got a call from a old teacher colleague and friend.  Her husband, also I teacher I worked with over the years, found out he has cancer of the stomach (not operable as it now is) and is undergoing chemo for it.  He is 82 years old.

I did even find a bit of time to do a bit more down cellar...

I decided the broken wall piece is beyond hope so I will pour another one tomorrow.  As you can see I painted the other 7 walls the basic color.  After the walls are sealed and I put in the doors and windows, I will go over each one dry brushing on a bit darker color for the stones.

Hope all of you have a safe and good night!

Remember the house I said I was working on? The one with the train pass hidden in it? Well it also has a BIG (HUGE!) train room! Sorry O and N Scalers. It's HO, 1st and 2nd gen diesels, EMD's mostly. Time frame around 1970's, south-central US.

When the character finds the room he won't know how to activate the layout until he searches the room. IF he has the train pass his search will be successful. On the control panel he'll find a metal box with a slit in the side. Below the slit it says 'Insert Control Card Here!' If he doesn't have the pass well forget it! He won't find squat! At this point the player (if he found the card, and believe me, the game knows whether it was found or not) can insert the card by typing in "INSERT CARD". I bet you were expecting something creative. The program will go to a separate set of routines that are just for the layout. A control panel will light up displaying buttons that can be pushed to initiate certain actions (or disasters) on the layout and the action will be described. But when it's over it's over and the character has to leave. The layout can't be run again during THAT game sequence. In other words the game must be started over or the character has to (GASP!) die.

Owing to the fact that I feel like crap and I'm shaking like leaf (got the heater blasting at 81 here in the office and I'm shivering to beat the band). I'm going to call it a night and hand this over to my spellchecker. I know it's going to light up like a Christmas tree. See y'all tomorrow, I hope.

This is what I need to get out of my chair right now!

Wish me luck Guys,  I am off for the MRI.

I hope it went well.

*

Did some more work on Paradise Cove today. Today was fun with garden gnomes for one thing. On one property block the character comes across a back yard that's littered with garden gnomes and almost immediately he's being bothered by them. One kicks his foot. If he leaves the back yard then comes back another one will climb his leg and bite his knee. There's about five things they can do then it resets to the first one. When he gets into the house he's safe from the gnomes. I still have four houses and properties to do on Nelson Street then I'll start on Aurora Drive.

In the house I'm working on now the character can find a train pass taped under the dining table. He'll find out what it's for later.

 Morning All,

Currently it is 38 with an expected high of 52 with a mix of rain and s**w before 11:00 then cloudy. At 8:20 it is still very dark and dreary out.

W**k again today for me. May run a train or two before heading in to w**k, otherwise not much else on the agenda.

I am still waiting to hear from the cardiac lab that is supposed to set up a chemical stress test for me, but still have not heard from them. I feel really good, so I am not going to push the issue. I will wait until I hear from them. I have an appointment with my cardiologist in two weeks, and if he still wants me to have the test then I will see about getting it done.

Galaxy - Prayers that YOH gets the promotion.

That's coming great Ray,

I can see that it is a real challenge, those walls have to be the exact same size with the exact angle on each end or nothing will come together.  Then when you get that challenge finished, you get to start on the roof. Bang Head  Laugh

You do great work and I know it will turn out being a winner.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, an order of sausage, and lots of dark roast Seneca lake Blend coffee for my R&GV RR mug, please.  That was quick, thank you Ma'am!

Ulrich, beautiful and amazing modeling there!  Doesn't it just frost ya when you go to buy something and it isn't in stock....  I have been waiting over a year now for Details West to get code 70 railbars made. GrumpySigh  Lucky I still have other things to get done.

Speaking of Windfall...  The leaves on the Maple tree next door have finally decided to give up and fall to the ground.  Nice steady leaf drop going on this morning.  Currently 39°F with a high of 48°F today here in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.  Even the sun is out and about.  Today is supposed to be "mostly" they say.  Had a hard, killing frost last night with a low around 29°F.  Time to bring in the carrots I think.  Only thing left out in the garden at the moment.

Last night I filed the sides of the walls for the Blacksmith's Shop so they can be joined when the time comes.  Of course I managed to hold side 3 wrong while I did it and broke the narrow top wall on it...  Grrrrrr!  I may be able to repair it as I have all the pieces.  I may have to pour another...Sigh

Little by little I guess!

Just to wet your appetite - here is a video of another gem, Dirk Becker´s "Gneetzäpplbahn":

watch?feature=playerdetailpage&v=djQsBzcPwg

"Gneetzäppl"  is a local, southern German word for windfall apples, used to make cider or apple schnapps.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream.

A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 57.

Ulrich- Great video from the Swiss guy! Your friends too, but that one is awesome. Makes me wanna drop all I’m doing and go down to the trainroom.

Galaxy- You’re symptoms sound just like those of my friend who owns/runs the restaurant. He’s had them for a week now. Hope you're feeling better.

Jeffrey- Nope. No hot diggity anything from me. Didn’t get to run a one of those two trainsGrumpy. Now maybe if say one didn’t work and you plugged it in and something happened to give you a clue or something needed for the quest…Hmm...like maybe a key to some lock on a particular MIL's door? Mischief . Then a hot diggity dog would be in order. Smile, Wink & Grin

Gonna be kinda busy today and probably tomorrow with some odds and ends getting ready for winter. And of course laundry has become a mountain again.

Lunchtime!

I just enjoyed a good serving of Petra´s tuna fish casserole and it was delicious. So it´ll be just coffee for me, if you please, Zoe, dear.

Called the Regner people who make those critter kits, only to find out that those kits are not available at the moment. They hope to have them in stock by Christmas. Rats, that condemns me to arm-chairing until then!

Yesterday´s storm left a path of devastation in Germany. Gusts with speeds up to 110mph knocked down trees and toppled trucks. 7 people got killed, mainly by trees falling on their cars. I am just glad we were quite safe in this area.

With no poltical w*rk to do anymore, I have plenty of time to dream about my layout and detail the drawing, just to tickle my imagination. Added a few bits and pieces this morning and may start on a set of construction drawings for the structures.

I wish I could do a full 3-D drawing of the plan, but WinRail has no option for this. I may check on Google sketchup.

Time to take a nap!

Hello .....

Another nice day. Finished cleaning the garage. Washed the truck. Repaired a flat tire on one of the Seadoo trailers. The garage is full, but neatly arranged with 3 vehicles, 2 Seadoos on trailers, a kayak, and and assortment of lawn and garden equipment and tools. I'll move the deck furniture in the garage at a later date.

Not much layout work to report with all of the outside work to do.

Wow a CT scan in two weeks! Up here you are lucky to get booked for one in two months. Just ask Johnny Boy in Regina.

That's probably what it'll be like here after Obamacare goes into effect. I'm try to get the majority of this stuff wrapped up before then.

Yeah, Jeff..... There were so many red flags, but that did not stop the politicians from their deed. Jeff , prayers for your health.
I saw Keith posting some really nice scenery in his thread in the "Layouts and Layout Building Section. He deserves complements for his work, and I'll post some of that. I'll invite him back ti the Diner.
CN Charlie .... This is the big final week of w*rk. That is fantastic!
