Morning All,
I think MOH wants to take me with her shopping today. I am very excited about that. I do want to get a storage unit that you normally keep screws and stuff in little drawers for my detail parts I have. Right now it's all jumbled together.
Later today I need to clean the pool filter and I need to go through my old train stuff (60's-80's) to see if I have a slope tender. For some reason I think I do.
Next weekend is our eldest grandsons birthday. He will be 8. The week after will be the youngest grandsons birthday. He will be 6.

Jeff- Thanks for sharing Bill’s note. (you have a bit of egg on your chin). All that walking yesterday musta just about killed you. At our Walmart they usually double or triple the bags on many things. I think, if you’re using three bags now, wouldn’t it be just as cheap to make them thicker again? Maybe it’s just me.
Not much planned today othern the village 4th of July celebration at the park. Brenda’s in charge of that and the ice cream and cake part too so she’ll be busy pretty much all day. Things were surprisingly no, make that oddly almost to the point of alarmingly quiet yesterday so she was happy yet concerned that things will really be nutso today. We stopped making it an all day event a few years ago and now just start at about 5 with fireworks at dusk. The Church sells hamburgers and hot dogs and BBQ pork sandwiches so it’s mine and my buddies job to setup and grill those. We usually start setting up about 3.
I hope the grass dries up enough to mow the back yard, I got stopped day before yesterday, as per tradition, and then decided I need to pick more goosberries before they ripen and birds get em and then it was time to clean up and go to w**k. Yesterday I picked Black raspberries before the birds got them and then Brenda wanted to go in town and eat, no...no Chinese buffet for me for a bit. She still remembers so we went to the sit down place with the Vietnamese. It's called Thai Basil, but it's not really any type of food other than Asian. It's very good though. Very good. Oddly enough they don't have much Vietnamese dishes. Mainly Thai and Chinese. Just a few soupy type things. Oh if you guys have never had Pho....you really need to try it. It's delicious. Anyway, then hit the Walmart then Sam’s Club. She was looking to buy a TV to give away in a raffle at the thing today. She left out that our little excursion to town would probly take all day. Including a stop at the world's busiest Sonic so she could get a Raspberry iced tea that she could have got at a gas station, but hey, THAT Sonic was packed so we had to go there. THAT one and no other cause she's thirsty now. Even though it would have taken less time to keep going to the gas station (a point I delivered while buried in line and shouldn't have) we had to stop there. I got a blackberry milkshake that I liked to sucked til my head caved in it was so thick. Wore me out and I got a crmp in my tongue and it's still kinda sore today from the straw trying to keep it from shooting into the back of my throat. So, needless to say the back yard still needs mowed and….probably the front again as well by now due to the rain. I may just mow the back and leave a two leveled effect til next time. If it dries enough. Who knows.

Sure had some fun yesterday.
The kilt will be here in 3-4 weeks, had to be ordered to fit a man of my "girth". They had one for my waist actually , but turned out to be too big! Next size down wasn't available. DOn't want it shimmying down on me in a parade!! THAT would be very embarrassing! What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt? I'll never tell. I actually got the Pride of Scotland because I actually liked the purple in it. MY family's clan has about 10 different colored tartans, on for ancient, modern, hunting, dress, casual, so I can get one for every day to wear all week! {not really} but I can get a color to go with almost anything! Just have to wait. Hopefully it will be here before the Elmira Scottish Festival!

As a fellow Scot, I salute you on your choice of garb. Perhaps, after retirement when I've got the time, I will refurbish and try to learn to play the pipes that have been sitting up in the attic all these years.
My layout's contribution to Scotland:
Not much train stuff this weekend. Daughter Annie came home for a visit, probably more to go to a party that a friend was having, and to get her car fixed. She mentioned that she was training for a triathlon. We had offered to buy her a good bicycle, hoping that she would finally adopt the other "family sport." This seems like the right opportunity, so we spent the time getting her properly fitted for a decent (not outrageous) bike. As she tried on her first-ever pair of real bike shorts, she said "I feel like I'm wearing a diaper." After lunch, we're going to take a family ride together. You'd never know it to look at this Scotsman's perimeter now, but I used to race bicycles as a younger man. No performance enhancing drugs for me. I just enjoyed myself nearby in "Citizens' Class" races.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Currently it is 78 with an expected high of 102.
I was able to get out early and mow the front yard before it got too hot, but not too early as to disturb the neighbors.
Food truck Festival yesterday was great fun and great food. My two daughters and I shared the following: Tri-Tip sandwich, Fish Tacos, Pork Al Pastor tacos, frogs legs, hush puppies, sausage peppers and onion sandwich, macaroni and cheese, ultimate grilled cheese sandwich, ice cream, and lemon custard cup cake. I stayed full for most of the rest of the day.
I should be able to spend a good portion of the day on the layout.

I purchased some accessories and some woolen tartan blankets at one booth and the lady {a good Scot herself, dontcha know, of the Wallace clan} said, when handing me the CC slip to sign, using my first name, and I said "Ah a GOOD IRSIH name", she pointed out my last name, and said "AH, A GOOD SCOTTISH name"....
She gave us a slight discount on the blankets as I had purchased there 3 times! The blanket is her tartan, clan Wallace, but we liked the red in it! AND they didn't have the clan tartan blanket for us. A 100% woolen blanket 6' by 4' for a mere $40 each. Not bad. Now to have them dry cleaned to bring down the "fuzzlies" and to take out the manufactured smell.
I bought the green tartan in a scarf they had for my names clan tartan. It is the "hunter" tartan variety. The gray dress tartan is just to bland for me.

I have zero music ability any more. I can't even do well at the "tonality" of the call for the Hawaiian Chants for hula!!! I even sound off key where there is really little key to be off for for the chants... ! I have zero tonality, zero rhythm, zero on time beat, etc.!
I liked the one T-shirt: "It's a KILT! If I wore something under it, THEN it would be a Skirt!".

Galaxy ..... I have Scottish roots. My Dad's side of the family was in the Royal Stuart clan and he was very proud of it. He even wore ties made from the family tartan. He was never involved with kilts. Same for me.
Barry ... You mentioned London, ON where you are. It reminded my of traveling on the CN between Windsor and Toronto which I did several times. The route of course included stopping in London. I recall seeing CP and CN freight trains. I think CN called its trains the "Tempo". Nice cars. The train typically had a single Canadian-built hood-type unit by Alco (MLW) painted red. It was better than driving to Toronto.
The Cincinnati family is here yesterday through tomorrow. Now we have two Sea-Doo's and both are in the water. I really do not like that type of watercraft, but I am outvoted by the younger generation.

Galaxy: Some of my ancestors were Scots or Kelts if you prefer. In some of the old family journals there's some talk of kilts. I never bothered reading them much though. The other parts of the family, French, Irish, British, Welsh, German and some others of course didn't wear kilts. On the American side, well, I can't imagine what a Cherokee would do with a kilt.
Hello. Will likely take a break from working on the aircraft for today. Started to get a little high on the super glue. Also, my allergies started to act up a little bit, and so don't feel my best right now.
P.S., over 50% of my blood line is Scottish! Don't have anything to show for that on the current layout, but will on the next.

Good evening. Well, I decided to paint the camo on the P-40B tonight, but unlike the Spitfire, I used a tan color instead of a dark brown.
It looks good with the tan, and think that it is a vast improvement over the olive drab that the model was cast in. I still have the frame on the canopy to paint, but it still looks good regardless.

Aaaaahhhhh! been a long couple of day for me. Saturday was fun. The troop from Syracuse, NY had 6 Scouts doing the Railroading Merit Badge and they were all able to finish it there. They were all packed up when i got there this morning, and they were the passengers on our first trip up the line this morning. First trip down the line we had 66 passengers plus the Boy Scout Troop 14 people... To say the cabooses were crowded would be an understatement! On the way back down the conductor had the Scouts draw straws too which two of the Scouts would get a cab ride in the 80 tonner. Had two very happy Scouts, we did!
Of course the old 80 tonner decided didn't want to even turn over this morning, so the battery charger was plugged in for about 15 minutes. She then rolled over and the second cylinder up started her up nicely... Ran fine the rest of the day. Then the brake test took way longer than it should as the brake didn't want to work on the old Erie Caboose. 'Tis fun playing with the antique equipment at times.
Today was "Baseball Day" out at the museum and "Spike" the Rochester Red Wings Mascot was out there for most of the day. He took a ride on the train and we even had a news crew there that took footage of the entire ride down the line! I may stay up and watch the local Rochester News on line at 11PM. We had the best crowd of the season today. Lots and lots of kids there. I was exhausted by the time I logged off for the day after closing up the caboose for the day. Been just relaxing here since I got home a few hours ago.
Looks like Jeffrey has some firewood there for sale...
