Good morning

Herrinchocker's a Post-hogLaughWink

Been away a few.  Good to see everyone.  Frito-chili omelets with cheddar and sour cream all around on me.  I as well am keeping my fingers crossed for you and Petra UlrichYes  Wish you two the best of luck in Denmark.

Prayers are working,  Judy and I give Thanks to you all.  The day Shayla went into the hospital she was released later that morning with just a bad flu.  Now-a-days just a bad flu is good news.

Judy's best friend, her Sister Kelly was induced into a coma Sunday as she was getting too week and regressing.  After 24 hours, her stats started improving.  Yesterday she was moved to Abbot Northwestern which is one of the best Hospitals in the Midwest.  They have great results with recovery.  Things are on the Upswing guys.  Thanks for your support.

My Railroad Club is going to resume in the back yard Sunday.

Thanks for the update TF.  Our continued hopes for a full recovery. The flu thing can take a while to kick but it's doable.

Good afternoon, everyone.  The storms went through, and today is beautiful -- in the 70s with low humidity.

Ulrich, keep us informed how things go.  It sounds like things are looking up.

TF and others, we're praying for the best results on the health front.

I'm doing something I didn't want to do, but for the good of the marriage, I'm doing it anyway.

My wife decided to paint some cabinets.  She asked if I wanted to help.  I said no because I'm finishing my garage renovation.

She started painting, knowing full well her messy job would get the result she wanted -- me doing it.  Rather than spend two weeks cleaning up her mess, I told her I would paint the rest of the job.

She's sitting in her chair.  I swear I hear her laugh every so often.

I ordered a case of my favorite spray cleaner, Spartan SD-20. This stuff is the best.

United Parcel Service decided I did not really need it all that badly, and they sent my package on a tour of the Southern United States.

It started in Illinois, and it seemed to get a good start on the journey to me in Cape Coral, Florida.

There was a mechanical failure that caused a mechanical delay... OK, but it still made it to Hialeah and then to Fort Myers... Almost here is 4 days by ground. Not bad.

I guess United Parcel Service decided that 4 days for a ground shipment was too fast. You do not want your customers to come to expect good service, so they sent it in and around Louisville, Kentucky for a few day... What?

Then they decided that the package needed to be in Tennessee, but then it finally made it to Tampa... Back in Florida!

Now it is back in Fort Myers, and supposedly out for delivery... I sure hope so.

Good afternoon all.

Zoe - A RBF please. Thanks.

Ulrich - Good that you now have official approval for the move. Now hopefully the house works out!

Weather - Hot and humid.

Health - Breathing is much improved, still not my 100% but much closer.

Trains - Got the GE primer coated, and decided that the paint scheme on my freelanced C425 will be the same as used by Reading on their GP40's, Green with yellow frame sill, pilot ends and warning stripes on the nose and rear. I will also have a freelanced GE 8-40 that will most likely be painted the same scheme. The C425 I have primered the sill and pilots, along with the main portion of the body. The cab will be next, but I am patching the mounting location from the cab mounted horn to relocate it too the main body roof. The cab roof will feature a roof top AC unit, much like the old NS Top-Hat D9's. A radio antenna will also be mounted, opposite where the horn would have originally been located.

Remodel - Trying to figure out how to move forward with it despite the issues from the pandemic. Have a few ideas, but not sure they are doable. Hoping it will work so it can be done so a new layout can begin to be built.

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

Good Afternoon,

Another cool day here with a high of about 60F. There is a little sun but that won't last. At least we did get some rain so all in all not bad.

Ulrich, I too am glad things are looking up. That is an amazing house and at 130k it would be an unbelievable bargain on this side of the pond.

Still on my brass quest. There was a CN J4e Pacific in G.B. of all places for a  good price but the pictures seem to show that it is bent . Possibly it was dropped at one point. At any rate I'm not going to take a chance.

We are still far behind on planting. My wife is very much afraid to go into even a garden centre due to covid. It is windy right now so we will try at an outdoor one nearby and see how that goes.

I don't seem to have any ambition to do much of anything. I have to mow the lawn today or maybe tomorrow.

We got a decent quote on the new fence but won't proceed until late summer or early fall.

TF, hope your SIL recovers soon.

Well coffee time again and then we will head out.

Even for rural Denmark, this is an absolute bargain. I am trying to figure out where the catch is withn this one! The house looks pristine inside out on the pictures, which were taken only 5 weeks ago. The house was built in 1854 and has been renovated sympathetically only recently. The thatch on the roof is 5 years old, which means I don´t have to worry about the roof in my remaining years. We need to introduce a few minor changes to the layout to make the house ready for two separate parties, one of which being the enclosure of the stairs to the upper level, the other one extending the bathroom upstairs to incorporate a shower. Installing a small pantry type kitchen upstairs is a no brainer.

The garage has 15 Bosch solar panels on the roof, facing south. This should bring our energy bill down to next to nothing.

Gee - I wish we had everything already high and dry !

Happy times!

Things look quiet in Harmony, Minnesota on July 19, 1976. MILW, Harmony, Minnesota, 1976 by Center for Railroad Photography & Art, on Flickr Don't 'ya just dig those bells on the SW-1s?

IIRC that line was one of several Milwaukee Road lines in southeastern Minnesota that were originally built as 3' gauge lines in the 1870's - 1880's due to the rugged country in that area. All the lines had been standard gauged by 1903, but they were otherwise still built to narrow gauge standards, so an SW-1 (often in groups of 4) were the biggest diesels that could run the line.

Good evening

Well, ... MLC now we're talking!  Nothing better than dirty rice than the preparer that knows how to cook it.  Judy being born and raised a New Orleans girl knows how to make that, red beans-&-rice and jambalaya.  I haven't tried your Frito pie yet but I'm sure that's really good tooYesSmile, Wink & Grin

Not a big Improvement today but still stabilized and stats improved a little bit.  Judy's Sister is getting better and we just know it.  With all the positive reinforcement from here and everywhere, how can it not?

Thanks y'all

P.S.   The other thing is Judy never uses regular beef Polish kielbasa for her dishes anymore.  She gets good German beef sausage from my Friend Erv.  After changing things up besides this one, no more heartburn KenSmile

I do hope your ribs are feeling better and you got rid of that pneumoniaYes

Other nominees in similar categories to her's includes Ken Burns. I would post book but don't want to violate the rules of the forum.

Good Lord,  What have you done MLCLaugh

I always love it when Judy cooks really good but then I eat the whole thing after she had her fill of one dish.

After I sit around quite miserably for a while.  When my overindulgence simmers down a little,  Then I go eat a bunch of ice cream or something stupid like thatLaugh

P.S.  And then after that perfectly indulged meal of perfect seasoning and Spice mixed with the dairy product.

Later when sleeplessness occurs in the middle of the night from explosions that disrupt Judy's sleepLaughLaugh

I guess I never learnSadWink,  because somehow it always seems to be worth it.

Ken - Did they test you for Covid? Pneumonia plus an upset stomach are both symptoms...

Or, it could also just be from the meds and/or rib pain...

Just checking though...

I did talk to you Ken about two years ago on the phone and I do know you have my number.

I haven't talked to you since then but I did gather you are a tough man's man from our conversation then.

Cracked ribs suck and take a long time to heal.  I do feel for you Ken and hope that pneumonia thing went away.  Otherwise I would be worried about you.

You've been added to our prayers at the start of your troubles anyway Ken,  but if that pneumonia thing didn't go away,  you need to let us know.

Just looking out for you Kid!

Post-hog

Ailments suck.  You have your bad ailments,  you're not so bad ailments.  And last I checked there is no good ailments.

I stopped at the gas station the other day when I took Judy out for a drive because everything was such a mess we just had to go out and see some scenery and drive.

I stopped and bought her a Giant Cherry Slushy because it was so hot and humid outside.  I don't know what I was thinking?  Iced tea as usual would have been good.  Did I think we were 12 years old again.  I did see and find out what Brent has been saying about sugar having to do with joints and arthritis.  We both woke up with ailments so bad it was hard to crawl out of bed and get moving for a few hours the next morning.

I had a part that I specially rigged for my Mustang keeping the clutch arm stabilized.  I put it in three years ago and forgot to grease it again since.  That part is so hard to get at and reach with the wrench.  When I removed it to re-grease it the other day,  I twisted the wrench so hard at an awkward position my wrist hurt for two days.  Had I gotten a little step stool things wouldn't have been so bad.

I catch myself thinking I'm still a 20 year old without even thinking about it and then I pay for it.

Mind you,  I could think this is all serious right now but It's not.  It's just all kind of a BummerLaugh
