Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 57 along the Alleghanies front range.  Need to do a little work at the railyard this AM, then the youngest princess wants prom shoes.

My no-carb diet hit a pot-hole last night, as Wifey made her Tuscany shrimp dish.  Back at it today.  It is working.

Hope the YORKIES are having fun.  With y'all in spirit.

anjdevil - If you run for Chief, that may lead to confusion here.  Just saying...

SPMan - Get well.  Gonna have to research the UP prices.  There are enough enthusiasts world-wide, that they may sellout.

Chief - (Not Richie.  See, it starts...)  My O's have hit the skids.  Woof.

Good evening all, went to the doctor Tuesday following chest xray and he tells me that I have pneumonia.  He put me on antibiotics and sent me for another xray yesterday.  Wants to see me again next week.  I don't feel too bad but I have a chronic cough that comes and goes.  I have been avoiding going out to eat etc and stay home most of the time.  My oldest son came by for a visit this afternoon and stayed for dinner with me.  That was really nice.  My other son will be here tomorrow.  We usually go out to lunch but will have to play it by ear tomorrow.  Hope I can make it to church this week end for Palm Sunday and next week for Easter.

KRM, sorry to hear of the loss in your family. R.I.P.

Did not go to train meet last week end but did not miss much I am told.

I heard they fired up UP 4014 Big Boy for a test.  They are using the tender from the challenger which is already equiped for oil burning engines.  The Big Boy was converted from coal to oil.  Heard the price for tickets for an excursion on that thing is $3000 for coach and $5000 for a dome seat.  All I can say is mark me off.

Ray

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Got some issues resolved.  Foyt team was midpack in practice which is a great improvement.  Weather was windy.  Watched TCA manufacture presentations.   Glad to hear MTH will make Tinplate in the future.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

a large group for the CTT photo. Roy  has it but I'm not sure when he'll get to post it.

Mrs and I dined this evening at Layton's Diner with the Michigan Gang and the Jersey Boys.

Breakfast this morning at Cracker Barrel with the same plus Mr and Mrs John F and Roy.

Sir James was missed by all.

Spent yesterday and today walking the Halls of York with Roy and John F. Quite a haul this trip. Three Mantua's, two Gilbert, a Varney and a dozen HO telephone poles. Also picked up a analog multimeter from the tool guy. I'm old school and prefer to see a needle swing. Prices as usual are all over the place  although the stuff I like seems to be coming down.

Travel to Lancaster tomorrow.

Really wupped from walking. Gonna crash soon.

Prayers for those in need

Sunny and low 40's so far today.

Got started ballasting the Thomas the Tank layout at the museum yesterday.  Will continue today.  Hopefully, I'll have enough ballast.

The robotics team is winding up preperations for their trip to the world competition next week.  That meet will wind up the competition for this year.

Dropped the taxes in the mail yesterday, so I've sent to Cesar what Cesar is due.

Following up on the lakefront property transaction we have going up north.  Hopefully, that will be closed by the end of the month.  Also doing research on metal arch buildings.  I'm looking at using one for my shop building on our southern property.  The prices look pretty good, and it looks like they go up easily and quickly - easily enough for a DIY project.

About all for now.

Happy Anniversary, Mr & Mrs Fifedog......

Happy Friday (TGIF) from South Jersey.....

Cloudy and up to 60 today, rain later and tonight.....

Classes tomorrow, supposed to be nicer and if weather holds, I'll take the bike to class.  Sunday appears to be sketchy, will bring the Hemi Magnum then.

Kids are leaving for the weekend, so after dinner tonight, I'll hang with Smurf the cat and get started on my laundry and housework.  Maybe work on the layout for a bit.  I'll get some train time in, regardless.

More FD drama....should run for Chief and end this nonsense, by end of June, I'll have all my certs for Chief, may make some noise come December.....we shall see.

Just a quick check in...more work coming in...check back when I can!!

Morning.  66 and cloudy.  Showers off and on for the next few days is forecasted.  Will never dry out.  Got to get garden started.  Too wet to plow up.

Fifey, only reason to go to York now is to do a grits raid.  Rest is not my thing.

Glad you had a good anniversary.

Sprayed "agent orange" on new shooting lanes in Edgecombe Co. yesterday.  Easier as tank sprayer on back of 4 wheeler.  I walk along with hose and wand and spray whole lane and sides.

Hope to goof off today.  So far so good.

Have a good one.

**************UPDATE************

Good evening Mr. & Mrs. America and all the ships at sea.

This just in --- the YORKIES are eating breakfast.  A snapshot was sent, and there was irrefutable photographic evidence that grits were not readily available.

That is all.

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy & 53 now, along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Went fishing on top of Alleghany Mountain, and caught a nice Crappie.  Took FifeMom some flowers to celebrate our "anniversary".  Middle Princess and her man took us to a local Italian restaurant, and the veggie lasagna I had was excellent.  Oldest Princess won me a Dept 56 "horses at the lampguard" off ebay.  It will go in my Romney section.  Heard from Fifepup, who is doing well in FLA.  Halfway through Marine Mechanic school, and wants me to visit.

I hope all the YORKIES have a nice time.  My train show will be at the Allegany County Fairgrounds on May 4th.  WMSR will have a couple tables.

Good evening all,

Either the software has been acting up or everyone has stayed home today.   Quiet day at work.  Cold start warmed up nicely.  Mowed the high sections of the grass today, which was not much.  Not much has gone right today.   Tried to order train parts online and they left a message with a question about said order.   Money transactions not going well.  Big mower would not self propel.  Can't get anyone to answer phone at another place where I want to order some train cars.  At least foot is doing better.  I hope somebody posts sometime here.  Maybe only the Hoosierland is left?????   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all,

Busier day than expected at work.  Weather ok at noon.  Leg continues to improve.  Watched Jane the Virgin tonight.  Another dud episode.   Was going to be sad to see it go.  Now not so much.  Supposed to be windy in Hoosierland tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening,

That nailed it on NASCAR Rob!

SIL Dan's Grandpa died yesterday sleeping in bed at 92 years old. A guy could not ask for much better than that! So a lot of stuff to do the next few days till they get him in the ground. Wake is Friday evening and service is Saturday morning so we may watch the kids during the service. Not sure what they want to do yet. More to come.

Weather took a dump, was 67 yesterday afternoon and dropped 32 degrees by morning and has been cold, rain and wind all day. At least we missed out on DougM's snow.

I did not do anything today but go to Farm & Fleet and get a new pair of shoes so I will have something okay to wear to the wake.  I don't dress up much.

Afternoon All,

Certainly was a drop from a few days ago! No white stuff though thankfully. I perused the MTH 2019 Volume 2 online. Looks like I'm safe for another 6 months! Lots of re-hash.....

I agree with the NASCAR attendance issues. I had regular seats at MIS for years, but stopped attending a few years ago. A whole combination of things - boring races, rule changes and of course, prices. They've been working hard at cutting deals though, to win back people. Who knows, I'm out for the June race but may consider the August one.

I guess that's it for now.

Have a good one and prayers.

Hey, good Morning!

Slow to no progress on the layout, work and life getting in the way.

My best friend and his wife and my brother and SIL came in on Saturday for a visit, then had to pick up the Princess from work.  Ran to a friends house as her daughter and her "boyfriend" were moving out, had to re-wire the whole house stereo system which said "BF" maliciously ripped apart.  Got everything back together without the, um, urban engineered wiring he put together.  No splices all RCA plugs and now the Alexa works as well.  $40 and 8 hours later......

Sunday got home late, kids, treated me to BBQ burgers and dogs, was very tasty...the future SIL can cook!!

Last night's Line/Exec meeting was quick and got done in time to pick up the Princess from work.  Found out my NJ Devils got #1 in the upcoming NHL draft, the Rags (NY Rangers) get #2, Phylers get #11.....

Fighting my vertigo today, did get to work, on some meds now, so I'm maintaining...lol...

Regular meeting Thursday and then ICS 300 all weekend (incident command level 2)....should make for a LOVELY weekend...lol

Hope youse giz going to York have a great time....Planning for October!!

Good evening all,

Colder inside at work than outside.  Wore jacket all morning.  Iced foot most of the day and it is feeling better.  Have to force myself not to push it.  Work was busy (Tuesdays always are).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Afternoon from beautiful sunny 70°F Southern Ohio,

I got to work quite a bit on the layout over the past weekend.  I added 8” to the depth of the long 12’ leg of the ell and wired up more accessories.  Everything is powered out of the control panel and working good.  Note to self, on the next layout go ahead and buy a 100’ roll of 18 gauge red, black, yellow and green wire.  It would have been cheaper in the long run.  I have been able to reuse a lot of the longer runs of wire I salvaged off the old layout.

So far there are 12 operating accessories on the layout working and more to come.  I’m having a blast wiring everything up.  Last night a Marx Hand cart was delivered I won off Ebay.  A little cleaning and lube and she took right off.

Don - I have a lot of fond memories of the car exchange.  I think my gondola I sent around was the only American Flyer entry.  The gon and the card are proudly displayed on the train shelf.

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Roy, your reminder about snowmagedden made me change my mind about doing nothing today.

Last nice day for a spell so I finished up the railing for the deck stairs. Now finished with the build. Waiting for it to cure some then stain it around June!

Morning all!

56, sunny! 88 today! 90 tomorrow! Back to 60's/70's starting Thurs.

8n - nice about the robotics competition! Good luck with the PCs, you'll need it! Try to stay PC while you work on 'em!

Kev - at least the snowmagedden is staying north of you!

DonB - maybe they keep sections closed for low crowds so they don't have to staff it?

York!

Good morning,

The world has turned green in two days. Was in mid 70s yesterday and bright. Upper 60s and full sun today. I am just going to lay back and do nothing but suck it in because cold and rain tomorrow.

The inaugeral First Robotics Missouri Regional was held at the local high school last weekend.  My wife and I volunteered to help - I worked with the robotics team and event set up, while my wife worked in the concession stand.  The 12 hour days pretty much wiped us out.  We are vegging today.

As for the team's performance, we ended up as the captain of the #2 seeded alliance.  Unfortunately, we were knocked out in the semifinals by the alliance that eventually won the event.

A rookie team showed up at the event for their first competition.  Their robot was in pieces.  We assigned a few of the team members to help them get their robot together and driveable.  That team ended up winning the award for the highest ranked rookie team (18th out of 36 teams) and a rookie team insperation award sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.  We were awarded the Gracious Professionalism award for our efforts to help them.

Train news - we got the wooden ties installed in the Thomas the Train layout at the museum last week.  This week, we'll work on ballasting and other scenery on the layout.

Also working on a couple of old computers we've got.  One is a lap top with a bad cable going to the screen.  Solved that with a wireless keyboard and mouse and an auxillary monitor.  The other is an older all-in-one that we got from the in laws.  That thing is on Windows 7, has two users set up on it and seems to have a bunch of junk running in the background.  I think the solution there is to pull the stuff off of it that we want to keep, wipe the drive and install Windows 10.  Still doing research on that one.

About all for now.

Roy, I was curious and looked at the Bristol Website, they had both curved areas blocked out from sales at sight, even for this coming weekend. Some reason we are not aware of.

Hello there,

Contractor was a no show today. I'm assuming it was the rain last night into this morning.

Worked on my taxes today. Had to chase down my 1099R from SS. Anticipated owing but pleasantly surprised to be getting a few hundred back. Need to file the Fed electronically and print and mail State. Owe them  $100.

York prep continues.  This evening I replaced the brake lines on the rear axle of the Tahoe. They were pretty rusty. With my luck they'd blow on the trip. I'll bleed them tomorrow when I can see better.

    Bed is calling

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Dental check up ok.  Did some money management moves today.  Got oil changed on van.  Reduced magazine pile by relocating 2018 to shed.  Foot/leg feeling better.  Just needs rest.  Weather nice today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Watching the Bristol race. Grandstands maybe 1/3 full (or less - hard to tell). I remember when Bristol seats (before they added seats) were like Green Bay Packers, someone had to pass away to be able to get a ticket.

Roy, Can't believe it!  There is a 15% chance of T-Storms this evening at Bristol.  Can't believe that many people stayed away due to the weather.  Wonder if they raised the prices, or maybe a boycott of some sort?  Strange

DonB - Bristol attendance has gone down for several years. I also think NASCAR ticket prices and boring races are the issue, along with the hotels gouging everyone (like York).

Morning all! 60 for a start and 80 later today! I see York weather will not be too bad.

Rob! Good to hear from ya!

Good evening all,

Foot still bothering me so I rested today.  Watched 3 Hill Street Blues.  Listened to Indy car race.  Talk champ to chump.  Herta won the last race, dead last this one.  Foyt team did bad again.  Just waiting for May.  Weather damp but warm.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Okay, I got it. They do that at least one week a month Frank. Sometimes twice a month. Always a week long. I got about $80.00 of Menards money coming from buying the deck materials on the 11% thing. Wink So I already am planing what I will get with the rebate money on another 11% week. Smile, Wink & Grin
