Roy....I'll go one step further; the small vendors, not Lionel and MTH, provide the best education. Of course the custom bridge builders and I get into some intense discussions when they don't use the correct bearings for their expensive and detailed bridge models. Several years ago I received a private lesson from a small vendor on how to install flashing lights in die cast police cars.
My best purchase last year was the custom sign that reads, "POP'S ELECTRIC TRAINS". I ordered it on Thursday and picked it up on Friday morning.

Good evening all,
Quiet day at home. Watched Newcastle beat Southhampton 3-1. Went to Easter Vigil Mass. 2 hours. Rained all day here. I hope everyone has a good day and a Happy Easter!
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Marty - it was nice spending a few minutes catching up with you at York! Glad things are going well! (another reason for attending)
Haven't posted ina while. Had some login troubles and then stopped trying for a bit. Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

fife.....I told Mrs. Buckeye that you ran a train in Maryland. She now wants to ride the train you own. How do I get tickets when you are on "your" train?
SJ...I don't know why there are complainers at York. It is what it is. I always learn something from a vendor. My favorite is to buy cheap di-cast cars at Kroger and then drill holes and install lights instead of using something espensive.
Train room almost done.
Happy Easter!
robmcc Morning All, Looks like another dreary day. At least my fertilizer is getting a good soaking! Had round one of Easter suppers at my brother-in-laws yesterday, on to the mother-in-laws today and then to my folks. I'll be wearing jogging pants by Monday!! I've been following the post York rants on the other site. What do you guys think? Is it all "doom and gloom" or just the usual complaining? I hope everyone has a good Easter/Passover weekend. Have a good one and prayers. Rob

Afternoon all
Rob like I mentioned over there, They have to reserve the place like 2 years in advance, not sure if they actually have to pay that far in advance but sure they have to put some type of deposite. It's just your normal Negative guys you have over there. Any thing to try and stir a conversation up, like S.J. said ( another of my big dislikes for there is the how many have such and such engine.)
Afternoon folks!
A beaut of a day. Started in the high 40's and headed to 78. Working on cleaning the back porch and house for the family Easter dinner tomorrow afternoon. Pool sweep booster pump is doing well. Tested the hot tub heater, etc, as the little kids will be swimming and the water is still pretty cold. So they can warm up in the tub.
Son ran and completed his first half marathon this morning. 2 hr, 3 min for 13 miles. Folks he was running with were complimentary on his time. He held in the 2 hr pace group until the 10 mile mark. He was pleased with himself.
DonB - great visit with Dougsnotta. And congrats on the El Cam. The part I need to fix the carb (Q-jet) fuel inlet showed up last week. Need to pull the carb and get it installed (inlet fitting that cuts new threads).
Hello there, Got the slows this morning. It's been an above average year for fish frys. Last evening 695 braved pretty much steady rain with some heavy downpours. Had plenty of help so it went smoothly. Mrs nephew is the new fryer. I will help but he will carry the load. Chief. ....still an occasional flash. Diagnosed as vitreous detachment. The gel is shrinking and tugging on the optic nerve. Happens to all as we age but most see no flashing. Happened in my other eye a couple years ago. Closely watched because it could cause a tear Use a hi res image of inside of eye to watch. Been getting them for several years due to diabetes so there is a good comparison. Go back regularly for check till flashing stops.
Happy belated Birthday to Charlies MOM.
Best get to Easter prepPrayers for those in need
Sunny and 64. Breezy. Had rain and then two lines of blowing rain. We were lucky.
Have a good one.
Rob the doom and gloom post are an annual event on OGR. It's like "what's gonna be in the next catalog" it just never ends.
Gloomy, windy and only 47 for today's high. Tomorrow is suppose to be the beginning of a better week.

A good day. Got my 3 standard gauge oil cars from Sidetrack Hobbies today. They look really nice. Wife and I had a nice fish dinner at Frisch's. Watched Jane the Virgin I recorded Wednesday night. Best episode of the season so far. I hope everyone has a good day.
And so it goes,
I got everything today from John Deere this morning, about a 25 mile one way trip away. Then changed the filter and 7.5 gallons of oil @ $209.75 later. Then got a call from TurfTeam that my Landpride parts were in. So I drove the 13 miles to get there and have a guy give me a bag of bolts & nuts??? I asked where is the 59.5" blade????? What????
So in the end the blade is still at the cross-dock in Peru and they said it will show on Monday. Good thing because the gravel guy called today and we will go over the lane work on Monday and make the plan. It should all work out even though it has been a cluster F#@k.
Chief, hope your good with al that bad weather there??/
Weather allert after weather allerts. Raining off and on now. Not much on agenda.
Hope all are OK. Banks, your eye OK? No more flashes?
Later.
Good Morning from overcast 67°F Southern Ohio,
It has been super busy at work and at home for the past week. I’ve been reading but not posting.
I did get the deer mounts back from the taxidermist and they are on the wall. We’ve had several compliments on the mounts and how they are hung.
Working on the layout the Mystic Talking Station 755 is acting up and one on ebay showed up and I got it for $60. I had no back up 755 to use or for parts so which ever one turns out best I’ll put on the layout. I did get the wiring between the control box and table blocks all neat and tidy. A couple of days ago my bride found a morel mushroom while out walking. After knocking out the spores we fried it up. Each of us had a small bite. The kids had not tasted them before. Maybe I can find some more when it warms up after the rain
Don – Not surprised the soil samples showed up radioactive. There are a few uranium mines and many of the naturally occurring minerals are radioactive.
Chief – is that a nail in a cross tie?
Banks – Prayers for Link and his caregivers
Mike C – Good luck with the race
May God bless you and your families on this most Holy Good Friday
Jim
Good Friday to yuz guyz. UV index is in the 0-2 range in the Potomac Highlands. Calling for flash flooding on the eastern panhandle.
Wifey is visiting oldest princess and grandboys this weekend. That leaves me with youngest princess. Looks like wings-unt-yeungs tonight.
Will spend time in train room today, especially during , as FifeMax is soothed with the 3-rail sounds during such weather.
Hello there,
thanks for all of your prayers. Link has regained consciousnes, knows his family and has no apparent brain or spinal cord injuries. Seems like the worst is past with a long road to recovery ahead.
The house is nearing completion. Siding is the only thing remaining for the contractor. I have to get the gutters installed and paint.
Started this last night after Holy Thursday Mass but crashed. Time to head for fish fry prep. Good Friday services at noon then the final fish fry of the season.
Gotta go.
Prayers for those in need
Good Evening,
The past 2 days have been great! Yesterday was pickup day for the 2 engines I had repaired. Ted Silva did the repair, he is a Charter Member of the San Diego 3 Rail train club, and is also a Certified Repair Technican for MTH. He replaced the tach strip on both engines, and also a smoke motor on one. Talk about being meticulous, he did a REALLY fantastic job cleaning them. The Climax is a monster on the underside! Gears, drive shafts, U-Joints, etc., when he was done it looked better than new! His pricing was really great as well.
After I left his place, I went over to Doug Da Grump's place. Doug is really looking well, we had a great visit. Even ran the Climax, while I was there.
Ran the two engines on my layout, they were fantastic. Ran the entire layout at 2 smph, ran great!
Then today had to take the El Camino in for a SMOG test, ($85, registration $160). As it is '86 the testing is much more severe. I was concerned about the Check Engine Light, it usually takes awhile for it to turn off. But, I think running it down to San Diego a couple of times, cleared the "gunk" out. The light didn't come on at all! The technician was a little confused, the state says it has a Single exhaust. But 10 or 15 years ago, Chris and I had Dual exhaust put on it, from the headers all the way back, (illegal). As they only have a 1 exhaust probe, I've never had a problem with the emission levels. Then the new test calls for checking the ignition timing, via disconnecting some connection. He searched for 20 minutes or so. Then asked me if I knew where this disconnect was. Told him the only way I know how to test the timing is with a strobe light, and flywheel mark. He was not satisfied, I reminded him it was over 30 years old. So it passed! Wahoo!! Then when I got home I looked at the credit card receipt was $10 less than the invoice.
So all in all a superb day!
Don
Day seemed to be in slow motion all day. Wife made it home from helping sister move. Found out my starting position for Mini. Best grid position ever! Starting in fourth wave (out of 5) and best group ever. Overall still not great, but considering my past performances, I am not sure why I moved up so much. Gives me a good opportunity to do well and gives me a chance to do my best in terms of overall time from drop of first green flag to finish. Just hope the legs hold up and the weather is tolerable. Raining here a lot. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning,
What a difference a day makes in April. 80s and sun yesterday 40s and rain today. Boy the underbrush realy sprouted up with yesterday's WARM SPELL. Easter Sunday looks like it will be mid 70s for the get togeather at the boy's place if they are right?
George the cat has laid claim to Sandra's new front porch chair.
Got a call this morning that LandPride shipped my scraper blade to the dealer yesterday so should make it by Monday. No word on the stupid back ordered O-ring from JD?
Not much else going on today.
Morning all!
Cloudy and 60's this morning. Storms last night were not serious, boomed through around 1:30 am. Easter weekend will be nice for once in low 80's, partly sunny!
Got the pool sweep booster pump back from the repair shop yesterday afternoon. Got it installed before dark and let it all sit until this morning so the silicone the O ring volute seal is bedded in could cure. Turned it on this morning and so far so good. Have to keep an eye on it for leaks. Boosts pressure up to around 60 psi.
As AJ would say, "All in all, it was a good day." Mower was fixed when I came home so I could get the yard mowed before the rain hits. Made reservations for the intermediate stops to and from the TCA convention. Made reservations for Mid-Ohio. Got new trucks for Scout cars. Ordered 3 standard gauge tank cars from Sidetrack. Talked to Lucas. Good weather for walk. Got several replies to several emails I sent. I hope everyone has a good day.
