Good evening all,

Congrats to Buckeye on the story.  Good issue overall.  Semi quiet day at work.  Watched Blue Bloods tonight.  Good episode.  Fairly comfortable weather.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Cloudy and in the 40's today.

Been working on my trolley project.  I discovered that a Fastrack bumper connectes to a 4.5" striaght piece of Fastrack with the center rail isolated, leaves just enough room for the trolly to coast to a stop and hit the bumper with nough forst to operate the reversing switch.  I was originally planning on isolating the outside rails and using an isolated rail type accesory scheme on the main line to trigger start the trolley back up.  This didn't work out, as the trolley did not stop consistantly with this scheme.  Now, I need to come up with a relay connected across the isolated rails on the main line to switch the power on the trolley track.  15 to 18 volt AC coil relays are not common.  I'll probably end up with a 12VDC coil relay running on a rectifier.

Buckeye - nice article.

All for now.

Just checking in for the week.  We got some real rain yesterday and a lot last night.  I got a lot of water piled up behind the garage before the sump pump could take it off.  Finally got it pumped out before I had any flooding in my garage/train room.  I also discovered a missing gutter in front of a dormer window causing water to run off in front of the windows and splash back on the glass.  Getting some water damage too on the wood around the windows.  I think the gutter was removed by the roofers some time ago but we have had so little rain here, I never thought about it until now.  Went out to breakfast with my train buddies this morning.  One of them just got back from a cruise from the West Coast to Hawaii.  Five days each way!  Not my thing.  Went to the circus last week right after Thanksgiving.  Circus Vargus has a tent show without animals. Ringling Brothers has hung it up.  That was the last of the big ones.  I think the animal rights people plus economic issues did them in.  Saw a special on TV about the history of the circus.  Showed some about the circus trains too.  My late friend who was a circus performer gave me some of his O gauge circus train items before he passed on.  He scratch built a lot of the stuff.  Have a good week end all.

Surprise Young Buckeye and Young Sheldon appearing in the same issue of CTT???

Coincidence?

I think not.

CTT has not reached the Valley and I have not seen the new issue of CTT, however, I beg you not to tell Mrs. Buckeye that Young Sheldon and I share the same issue. Baby Buckeye has already labeled me Leonard because of my friends.

I hope everyone enjoyed the article. At the time I received the Marx, we lived in West Lebanon, Indiana.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning,

So I decided to apply for a supervisor’s job at the local ACE hardware. Doubt I will get it because they want someone to work 30 hours a week and at least 2 nights a week and I said no more than 2 days and no nights but afternoons were fine. Heck they close at 7:00PM anyway. But who knows? Help is hard to get these days..

Noticed the Ranger was knocking a lot going down the snow bumpy lane so I jacked up the thing under the lower A-frames and put a pry-bar under the tire and WOW!!!! 3/8” or better of play in the lower ball joint on the right and at least ¼” on the left one.

So, I ordered two new AC Delco ball joints and one tie rod I already knew was poor at best since I changer the other one when I got the truck. Got the ball joint press from Jim next door and will deal with that when the parts show up.

Picked up SIL's deer meat from the locker yesterday on the way to their place to watch the kids. Man he got a lot of meat in that guy.  We are going to do our own sausage and jerky. Will see how that works out.

Buckeye, you must be older than dirt if you can remember 1953. Laugh A good read. Yes

Better quit here before I try your attention spans.

Morning folks!

Cloudy start and maybe 76 today. Possible storms tonight as a front approaches.

Got the 2 holes in the slab patched yesterday afternoon.  Ran errands in the morning with the Ms and we had a nice lunch at the mall.

Have been dealing with some pain in the left eye the last few days so will be trying to get into the eye doc later this morning.

Plan today is to start patching the holes in the drywall and clean up the trim (I.e. Baseboards) I pulled off. Also may pull the fiberglass bats into the attic.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Weather was dicey and I had absolutely nothing that had to be done today at work so I took a personal day and stayed home.   Ran some errands and did some experimenting with different light bulbs at the house.  Some worked well.  Others not so much.  Got both the January CTT and the special Christmas edition I had ordered.  Both look to be pretty good.  Will go back to work tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon all!

75 here today and 70's next two days. Then back to 50's and 30's next week.

Got the plumbing finished yesterday. Everything is clean and leak free. So now I have to patch the holes in the foundation (2) and walls (5) and clean up/repainted/install all the trim. This will take a few days. And I need to drag the fiberglass bats into the attic and lay it over the pex pipe.

88 - I would something under the track, even Fastrack, to protect your new floor.

Afternoon Fellas

The Pittsburgh House saga continues... ugh

Yeah, selling one house is tough... try two at once! Bang HeadLaugh

So... earlier this year my Mom surprised me and gave me the American Flyer trainset my grandfather bought in 1947 for her first Christmas. I had been under their tree from 1947 - 1969 (she married my father before he went into The Army and got shipped to Thailand, she moved to Seattle in 1970 be with him while he finished his enlistment) and has not been under a tree since. My cousin and I would pull it out of my grand parents' attic every now and again to run. I have decided to not put up the train garden under the second tree (no second tree this year), and the kids are itching for a train under the tree. So.... I was thinking of pulling the American Flyer out and setting it up. The concern is we have new hardwood floors in the living room and I do not want to scratch them. Would FasTrack S-Gauge be safe on the floor, or should I just pull out my remnany carpet pad and cut a piece to fit and put the train on that?

Not much else going on... the new carpet is in and looks much better than the old stuff. LOL Just hope it holds up till we sell!

Happy Week after T-Day

RT - Nice house!!!  Like Fife said, moving sucks, I hated it, not looking forward to the day I have to do it again, and I'm sure I will......

Fife - Any time I spend with my Princess is time well spent, not concerned with the grand kids as there is none on the horizon and I'm good with that.....glad you could spend time with yours :)

LionRoar - LOL  See above!!!!

Glad everyone had a nice holiday.....still some after effects, should be the last night of leftovers, however :(

45F today, sun decided to show up, but will be breezy today, not windy like yesterday.  63F on Sunday.

Need to have some quality time in my attic.....time to build a layout!!! I have some of the lumber, just need the time.....

Hello there,

here we go again.  Started to post last couple of nights and crashed and lost it.

Had a good Thanksgiving. The whole clan was here. Even got them all to sit for a family photo.

Farm house (Mom's) was low on coal and the yard is to soggy for a truck and 9 ton of coal so Friday I got a ton on my trailer. Yard was semifrozen and it was still sketchy.  Going to need some in the town house (ours) soon.

Cousin from Meadville PA was down for the Holiday. We met at Mom's facility and had a good visit with mom. Then had a meal and nice chat at a nearby restaurant.

Saturday and Sunday were lazy days. Did help Mrs take down Thanksgiving stuff and start a little bit of Christmas.

1st day of deer season Monday. Dawned cold and rainy Spent most of the day sitting in Blazer in son's field. 'Bout 430 3 doe an a spike came out to eat soybean. Shot the biggest doe. Legal because I have Chronic Waste disease tags. It was discovered in our area a couple of years ago. You can buy as many as you want. Game Commission is trying to reduce the herd to keep it from spreading. I'm trying to reduce crop damage.

The rest of the week has been some appointments, in optometrist waiting room now, (crashed again last night) round the house stuff.

Only a couple of questions on the Blazer so far and they came from Facebook posts instead of online classifieds.

Roy........seems like the plumbing saga is coming to an end.

Chief.......you must cook slow or Mrs Chief is fast to get that done while you cook breakfast.

RT. .....Slow and steady on the move.

Doug and Bob........sounds like you had a good time.

8N Win 7 made my printer and scanner obsolete. Even got one of the IT guys at work to try. no good .

RJ.....glad you're feeling better

Time to go

Prayers for those in need

rt - Congrats on the new homestead.

Chief - Beautiful Christmas tree.  What, no train...?

88 - Selling one's house puts everything on hold in life.  I hated the process.

Good evening all,

Relatively quiet day at work.  Comfortable weather for a walk.  Went to see the latest Hogwarts movie tonight.  Kind of long and kind of dark.   If you are not really into the whole story line, probably not missing much.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good haul there 8ntruck.

Evening all.

Well we were suppose to close tomorrow but the lawyer doing the title search took a bit longer than expected, ie decided he didn't need to work the wednesday before thanksgiving ( which kinda surprised me ) of coarse Thursday Thanksgiving day and Friday ( guess needed black friday off, but kinda already figured they wouldn't be in that day. ) so we lost 3 days of work there. Well today we finally got the title search papaer work to the underwriters for the loan. Now they need to get me some paperwork once they go over that. Then there is a 3 work day waiting period, ar least in that they allow saturday as a working day. So if lucky we are looking at Monday for Closeing. But been told it could be as late as Wednesday. Sad

Train wise I have to box up some O guage track ( straight, O-42, & O-54 ) and some track bumpers. Otherwise I have a closet full of boxes as per this room also.

This is basically what I call the back side but to be honest it is really the side as the actual front door is on the end.

Hope all have a good day.

Mostly cloudy and just over freezing today.  Got a 3.5 mile walk with the dog in today.  I noticed that the 3.5 miles on the remaining snow and ice took a little longer and more energy than the same 3.5 miles without the snow and ice.  Probably always did, its just that I've reached that age where one notices things like this.

The coal loader I sniped on Ebay last week arrived today.  The corner of the bin is cracked and the clear shield at the top of the conveyor looks like it broke in shipping.  Neither one of these things is serious.  Otherwise, it is in very nice shape.  This one has the hammertone silver paint on the base and what looks like the original conveyor belt. Coal and switch were included.  Not bad for $25 plus shipping.

All for now.

Mornin' Fellas

Carpet guys are here replacing the carpet on the entry stairs, upstairs hallway and in the Master Bedroom... very noisy! LOL!

Set one tree up for Christmas last weekend, not sure we'll do much else as very busy with work on the house here and not wanting to do too much that could impact having the house ready for sale in late January or February... we'll see. Kids don't seem to be too upset.

Got most of my shopping done yesterday. Thumbs Up

Started clearing out some stuff in the office... amazing the amount of junk we've collected... almost filled the recycle bin with old books and paperwork (nothing sensitive), and still have a lot to go through!

Basement walls have been painted, working on patching the ceiling where I had to open it to get to electrical for the stove... but did get the stairwell ceiling painted. Amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do for the house! Once basement is done I will need to move everything out of the train room then patch holes on the wall and paint. Then it is up to the sunroom to fix some settling cracks in the ceiling... then up to the Master Bedroom to fix settling cracks in the walls... fun times. LOL

Fife - sounds like a good time with grand kids!

Have a good one!

Morning all!

Sunny and headed to 70's today. 70's next couple days and then a couple of cold fronts for weekend/next week.

More progress on the plumbing saga. Got the 3/4 pex run through the attic and down the two walls (behind water heater and master bath shower). All secured with clamps and pipe wrap insulation. When I am done I have R19 bats to lay over it In the attic. Plan today is to fabricate the second copper manifold that replaces part of the current manifold behind the shower. New manifold allows the hot water to feed from the attic pex line vs the copper up through the slab.

Kev - nature has a way of thinning trees. Good luck cutting them up - and no shortage of firewood eh?

Carl - I suspect Buckeye did not turn the crank on his phone fast enough Smile, Wink & Grin

Fife - trains & kids Thumbs Up

Another sunshiny day today.  Didn't get much above 25 degrees.  As I feared yesterday, the ice on my sidewalks that I didn't scrape up yesterday is now firmly frozen to the concrete.  Supposed to be above freezing tomorrow.

The Charles Ro order arrived today - a day early!  It is the Ravenclaw Hogwarts boxcar and the Looney Tunes Bugs and Elmer rabit hunting car.  Interesting ratchet and cam action on that one to make Bugs and Elmer move.

Current computer project is updating the anti virus software on the old desk top computer.  I need to un-install some old anti virus software that the new stuff does not want to play nicely with.

About all for now.
