Good morning all,

One of the wives in our church social group passed away on June 1st after a long battle with cancer.  Funeral is next Friday.

Happy 4th to all.  My son left this morning on a trip to Atlanta to be with his girlfriend who is traveling with a group.  He won't be home until one day next week so we are "home alone" again for a while.  Have to plan some things so my wife won't get bored.

8N, the water tank on those early American type 4-4-0 locomotives generally surrounded the wood pile in a U shape, not just at the back but all around.  Sometimes they stacked wood on top of the tank sides so you don't see them.

Ray

Good evening all,

Spent the day dismantling the train table upstairs.  It was built with the idea of not being disassembled.   It took a while but I have it in small enough pieces that when we have to clear the space for construction work, it can be moved easily.   I also watched England defeat Germany 1-0 for third place in the World Cup.   I hope everyone has a good day and a Happy 4th of July.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Nothing lined up for today.  Perhaps I'll organize our storage room...naaaahhhhh...

Shoved off from the pier at dusk, with Wifey and FifeMax (sporting his new pet-vest), and we putt-putted around Old Road Bay, surrounded almost 360 by fireworks.  It was pretty cool, and she really enjoyed herself.  Maxie stayed below decks for the most part.  Oddly, due to bad weather all afternoon, we didn't have the parade of speedboats blasting by, so the water was pleasantly calm.

Morning all.  Sunny and humid right now.  Possible T'storms [hit and miss type].

Resting up from yesterday.  Parade after a T'storm went well.  The great fireworks.  Someone spent some $$$ on some.  Shot them up before ours went off.  Think neigborhood folks near park.

Cookout was great.  Lots of hotdogs consumed.

Kev, I know you are a brat. Wink  Actually cooked some with the hotdogs.  They were all eaten.

Had not missed you. Whistling [Friend Fred and his wife just got back from there]

Watching TV now.  Wifey gone to In-laws to check them out.  Don't think I told you about her Father.  Had locked their keys in the car when FIL and MIL got home.  Took ax and knocked door knob off.  I went Friday PM and replaced it.  He paid me with a Fox Sterlingworth double barrel shotgun [collectors item].  I was well paid.

Have a great week ahead.

Resting up after the 4th.  Had lots of hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw yesterday.  Had some store bought iced tea but did not like it.  I threw out what was left.

Almost overflowed the pool yesterday when I forgot to turn off the water I was adding.  Kids brought over their pet cockateel bird yesterday but it drove us nuts wanting to get out of the cage.  We are going to be stuck with the bird for about a week when they to on a trip next week.

Live in son is in Atlanta now.  Called us last night.  We have to fend for ourselves this week.

Good afternoon all,

I hope everyone survived the 4th.  Ours was nice; we had good food and great weather.  Life/work have been keeping me busy but I have had time to work on the layout.  It is coming along a decent pace.  The youngest and I enjoyed Rail Fest last weekend.  It was at a local park and had lots to do and see.  I'm planning to relax the rest of the day.

Chief - Please take care of those sharks.  The family and I will be at a beach in NC in August for some vacation time.

Good evening all,

USA! USA! USA!   It was a great win.  I thought the game was over in the first 20 minutes, but Japan made a game of it with it being 4-2 at one point.   Fortunately the US answered back and put the game away.  The one goal by Lloyd from midfield was awesome!!!!  I hope everyone has a good day.  I know I did.

Hello There,

Demay.....come back more often

Great job by the US Women!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad everyone had a good 4th.

Ours went well. Spent Friday catching up some details of Mom's paperwork and trimming overgrown bushes. Had an additional 3+ inches of rain Friday night. (needed that like I need a hole in my head) Slept late and did picnic prep Saturday. 10 Lb of wings and 5lb of drumsticks were fried along with all the fix'ns. Perched in the driveway to wath the local fireworks. They wern't as as good as usual because one of the two permitted locals didn't do it this year.

Fife ....sounds like a great way t watch fireworks. To bad abut the boat that hit the barge in Kentucky

Best get t sleep

Prayers for those in need

DougdaG - just had time to catch you have been worked on. Get better soon!

NASCAR - well 4+ hrs and still waiting to start the race. How late will they go?

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Mornin' boys.  Rainy & 80 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gotta take middle princess's truck to garage for something that keeps stalling her engine.  Spent some time in the layout room yesterday, painting details on 2 bobber cabooses.  Man are my eyes getting bad, and to think I was once big into N scale...  Went through a stack of old MR mags for recycling day.

Banks - We've had a huge up-tick in boating accidents on the Chesapeake as well.  In my opinion, 90-95% are caused by poor decisions.  And a good percentage of those are people "hitting their mark"....literally...

Roy - I'd like to think that the thought of me coming to nurse you back to health, played a huge part in your speedy recovery...

Good morning from a humid North Bluff.

They are calling for rain this afternoon then all week. I see the farmers doing re-plant beans. Too late for the corn. First time since I was a kid that there is corn only knee high on the 4th of July. Tongue Tied

Sunday was not a bad day, I put 60+ miles on the 1975 Triumph Trident and wifey road for 30 of them, She rides good, Would not know she is there if the bike was not sunk into the suspension from her 140 extra pounds. She has not had a ride in over 3 years.

Started out messed up. Gas running out of the right bank carb when I was driving but not when it was on the center stand. So I re-set the float and it ran PERFECT!

Got all of the grass but around the house cut before the next 4 days of rain. Staid away from her and avoided cleaning and washing the wood siding on the back of the house. ;-) Cut grass and weed whacked.  She is going to do windows next.

Have a great week.

Roy, I gave up on NASCAR and still don't know if they got done.

Good morning all,

Got a new pastor at our church who was introduced yesterday.  Had reception after mass.  Also a retired monsignor is going to be living with us at the rectory.  He seems to be a very nice man.  I think all the parishioners are looking forward to a good relationship with the new man.

Forcast is for cooler weather this week.  I welcome it.

Hope to get palm trees trimmed this week.  They are raining debris on my cars.  They usually go to seed this time of year.

Might get some more time on the train layout if the cooler weather holds this week.

Roy, glad you are upright now.

Dougnotagrump, hope your health is on the mend.

Chief, good luck on another term.

Ray

Fife - I was looking forward to your "care". Assume therapy involves flanged wheels!

Watched the NASCAR race until 12:30 EST and gave up. Was happy to see the news this AM that Junior won Daytona again. Wow. Austin Dillon in the fence. Amazing he walked away and no fans seriously hurt.

Good evening,

It was just another Monday here.  I did enjoy a 10-mile run this morning.  Fortunatley, it was about 66 degrees when I started at 0600.  We had a quiet evening at home.  I have three listings on eBay right now; two have bids some I am happy.  I am trying to get rid of some FasTrack I no longer use.  I hope you all had a great day.

Mornin' Fellas

Back from vacation to AL. Was nice to see the family and let the kiddos run around the farm with their cousins. Was not nice to have to deal with one young cousin who apparently knows not what discipline is. Sad Had so set said young cousing straight a couple times as he would come into the house screaming at the top of his lungs and would wake Matthew up from his nap.

Matthew now refers to all tractors as 'John Deere' no matter the make or color. He does love his tractors... seems one may be in his future for Easter next year. Christmas or his birthday would be inappropriate since he wouldn't be able to ride for months and that would be torture to him.

Took the kids to see the Gadsden train display. Both really liked it, but Matthew was simply enthrawled. Christina kept telling me 'Our trains are bigger... I like them more.' Then as we were leaving 'Daddy, can we run MY Thomas when we get home?' Sure do love that kid.

Good afternoon all,

V8 Dennis, you'll have to excuse my innocence.  I feel like I am out of the loop about Allied closing.  First I have heard of it.  Are you talking about the present day shop that was taken over by the Whistle Stop a while back?  That was across the street from where Alan Drucker's store was.  I first met Alan back in the early 70's.  John King and Alan were the autioneers at TTOS Southwestern back then and in my opinion, the best we ever had.  After John King's passing, Alan continued for a while by himself.  He was sorely missed when he decided to move on.  I believe he either leased or sold the original store that was modeled after L.A. Union Station to some camera company but sold the train business to the Whistle Stop and was moved across the street to another building.  I think Alan still holds private train auctions once a year or at least he did.
