Went to doctor this afternoon to follow up on pluerisy. He thinks it is all cleared up now. Next appointment in November.
Been watching the Ken Burns special this week about TR and FDR. Some good railroad shots from the periods.
Hoping to go to hear my friend Larry who plays drums in a Dixieland Jazz Band on Saturday. This will be his last regular job with them after many years in the band. He says he will still sub once in a while when they need him though. Just hope the weather is not too hot. It is outdoors at a historic venue from the Spanish days in early California. They have a historic adobe house and cemetery there. They usually have two bands going at the same time but I will stay put this time with Larry's group. Have to get there early to get a parking spot close by. They also have flapper dancers and vintage cars on display. I want to take my wife too if she is up to it.

I saturated the straw pads in the swamp cooler with water today to see if it made any difference in case the pump was not supplying enough water. Does not seem to improve any. Probably still have too much humidity in the air. Meanwhile, still using the regular air conditioners and paying through the nose.

Another cool one today. We're supposed to drop to freezing tonight. Somebody forgot that fall begins at the end of summer, not winter.
SP: I can certainly understand why a swamper unit becomes ineffective during high humidity. One of the reasons why you never see them here in the northeast where heat is always accompanied by humidity.
Spent some time tuning up a few accessories that suffered from neglect. Tore down a Lionel reissue of the American Flyer drum loader that would hardly move. It must have been run till it got so slow that the forklift mechanism couldn't perform its load and dump function. A tiny bit of oil and grease got it working just fine. One more reason to get a tubular layout built.
As many of you might be aware, our internationally known Toronto mayor has cancer. Kinda goes to show that high stress, over working and self medicating will eventually take it's toll.
KRM: Great looking oil facility! Having 2 oil derricks and now a working drum loader I should probably look into getting one of those platforms if I'm gonna include oil refining as revenue on my RR.
Went to the LHS and all I got was a new Lionel catalog. Was looking over a 97 coal elevator they had but $175 seemed pretty steep. I'll wait and see what can be found at Hershey.

Today’s weather was perfect once again. It was sunny and the high topped out around 70. It was in the upper-40s when I went out for a four-mile jog around 0600 and it felt great. The family is well now. The older son has a baseball game this even and his team lost; he played okay. He plays in a fall league, but I am not coaching. My work schedule is more demanding here so I do not have the time to coach any sports. It is tough to be a spectator after coaching so many years. We splurged and had pizza for dinner. I was watching the TNF game between the Buccaneers and Falcons but it is not much of a game.

Here is the rest of the oil facility, I have made them Mobil Oil. and will do the same with the filling station when I finish it up. I made these tanks out of PVC, even made one for Fifedog, They are okay for me and were fun to make.

Lots of posts, but glad to see everyone is up and doing stuff - I need to get more done, but we have been busy with stuff around here and Char was sick. She's better now and so things are getting back on track. Got my mitersaw out to the garage the other day and I expect to have a few hours Saturday between work and a concert to cut some 2x4s myself. I need to get some work done to get a Halloween Layout done :)

Chief you don't want to mess around with RMSF, it can be fatal. Besides you need the rest anyway.
Have VA Dr. appt today, not expecting anything major. Probably end up with some secondary appts., for vision and maybe hearing. And get a Agent Orange claim initiated.
Leg is feeling really good. And that could be a problem. It is feeling so good, that the cast is the only indication of a concern. So will take some effort to make sure I treat it right. NO CONCERNS, I will do that, NO WEIGHT BEARING. But sure feels good, no pain or discomfort. Taking a shower is a pain with the garbage bags, but that is it. Next week going to get out in the train room and see how that goes. Should do fine. Have lots of projects I can get involved in.
Kay, is really doing well ! Three of her four major treatments are complete! I've noticed this time she is has lost a little energy but that is OK. No other significant side affects so that's what's important.

Watched episode 6 of the Roosevelts on TV last night. They sure went by the war years pretty fast. Guess is was too big to cover on limited time. Last episode is about the president's death and Elenor's life after that. I had an opportunity to hear her speak once when I was very young but missed it. She was not well liked by a lot of people and took some controversial stands at the time. However, history seems to be kind to her.
