Ok, I know you SD40-2 fans will love this. It isn't CSX, and wctransfer has probably seen this a couple times. But I thought this was a lucky catch. I took the pic on July 10 2007.

That looks like an old CP unit.

Actually, it's better than that.  It's an old Algoma Central SD40-2 and it used to wear colors similar to EL.  I may have a picture of one of them in Sault Sainte Marie in the early 1980's.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Wow, she looks hot! Those Flexicoils give those SD40-2s a much better look in my opinion. Great shot Mike.

Isn't this the unit that led the runaway in Ohio a few years back. If so, the bullet holes were from a police officer trying to hit the emergency fuel cut-off switch.

If they do go, there will have to be some major number changes.I doubt they will just get rid of a single number series. I will probably be one from here and one from there and so on. From what I understand:

1. CSX is renumbering SD70MACs in the 700s and SD80MACS 800-812 to the 4500, 4600s

2. CSX will be filling the 700,800s with a new order of ES44ACs (I was wondering when CSX was going to get some ACs)

3. CSX will then trade 75 SD40-2s to pay for some of the new GEVOs.

That's my understanding.

Ok, I understand a couple of the people who dont like the SD40-2's are engineers, and I respect your opinion I am only a freshman in highschool and not even near my carrer as a engineer, but the EMD Sd40-2 I think will always be a better loco then the GEVO, you were commenting about the pollution, really railroads have gone a long way in pollution from steam from 1st and 2nd generation and so on. But really I think there is alot worse things we could do then put out those sweet clouds of exaust. The reason I think the SD40-2 is better, is first off, it is reliable, it is big enough for all kinds of road service, but small enough for locals (Would like to see you take your GEVO's and run in to a old run down spur to a factory to pick up 1 or 2 cars.) and finally, EMD has a really good track record sure they have a couple failures BUT THINK WHO DOESNT! GE had a few when they first started also. But like I said I respect your opinion just my My 2 cents [2c]. Mike
