Always welcome, just drop a dime a little ahead of arrival.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Not much happening here in Omaha today. However, there is a chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Large hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes are all possible. I'm concerned that instability is going to be a bit weak for widespread severe weather like they are forecasting, but we shall see.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Yeah, I'm back, after a couple days' rest. I'm glad to see that things were kept up pretty well, in here. So well, maybe I'll just leave again and stay away. I want to give a big "Thank You!" to all who did the cooking and cleaning, while I took the time off.
Joe, that breakfast looks might good this morning. Think I'll take two pancakes, two sausages, and some eggs.
At 1 p.m. EDT, you will find on the warmer bar: country fried steaks, pork chops, oven baked "fried" chicken, green beans, corn on the cob, mashed taters w/beef gravy; in the cooler, you will find: fresh tossed garden salad, Caesar salad, Jell-O w/sliced peaches, and the usual assortment of fresh baked cakes and pies.
Everyone have a great day!!

Thank you all for the Welcome Back messages!
Sunday Dinner is now out on the warmer bar. Part of it has crushed ice in the sections for the salads, and desserts. I hope everyone enjoys the selections I fixed for you!!

Well, instability just wasn't strong enough to support severe thunderstorms this afternoon, so not much happened.
This weather had better get a bit more exciting soon, or I might leave Nebraska for someplace that actually gets decent thunderstorms and not these little things that just spit out a bit of rain and then move on.

Patience my child. The year I did support for NSSL we had almost nothing at all when we were working. The 'worst' storm of that 6 weeks came on an off day. We sat at the Big Boy in Midwest City and watched the temperature drop 20 degrees in 15 minutes....
You're square in the middle of tornado alley and the season is still young. Be careful what you wish for....
Just thinking - I don't have any real contacts in the Air Force weather world anymore - but you are very close to the USAF Global Weather Central at Offut AFB. Maybe if you wrote them a nice letter you could get a tour!
Good Monday morning, everyone. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Looks like we'll have another nice day, although it may be a little bit rainy. We have a 30 to 40 % chance of rain, especially as the afternoon rolls around. We could actually use a little bit of rain.
Coffee is just about finished brewing, and I've got fresh juice made, and some iced tea (sweetened and unsweetened), lemonade, and hot tea and hot chocolate.
On the warmer bar this morning, there is turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and some western omelletes, oatmeal, grits and toast.
Didn't actually see any trains this weekend, but heard plenty of horns.
Everyone have a good morning, and let me know if you have any special requests for lunch and dinner/supper today.
Welcome back CW! So glad you are back! Probably need some comfort food for a few days to get back to normal. Maybe?
Quentin - studied bridges this weekend. Looked at a big picture book at the bookstore. Now I am really confused! I looked a truss, trestle, cantilever, Golden Gate, open/close - most of them look an awful lot alike. Now I need to go look at some bridges up close and personal - so I can touch, see, smell and taste. That will fasten it in. Will start small - some of them just south of us and work up to the Brooklyn, SF bridges!
Brian - are you still moving this morning? Our TV showed nothing but bad weather for all of Iowa. We got a piddle. And lots of wind - bad hair weekend.
We got to watch pinhole tv with all the ads and weather posted all over the screen. Now I know why people want a big screen tv - it makes the pinhole viewing at least up to a quarter.
I hear Joe's footsteps!

going to hear my lawnmower shortly.chance of rain this afternoon.yesterday was too nice outside.CW thanks for breakfast.
...Jen......Seems the bug on these RR bridges bit you pretty hard and deep...Me too, I like the subject say of RR bridges and add to that RR tunnels.
If you care to "see" the two {connected}, bridges I spoke of in various posts, send me an email address and I will send you a pic. of the exact bridges I'm relating to that are close to our down town Muncie Trail and railroad "stuff".....How about that....
Pretty sure I have a selection of views I took of them located here digitally on the computer and should be able to get them to you in that manner.
Quentin
Good morning, Mook- if there was bad weather in Iowa last night, it stayed away from us- we did hear a couple of rumbles of thunder before we fell asleep, but nothing to wake us up after that. In fact, I was surprised to see 0.66" of rain fell during the night.
Looks like I'll be mowing the lawn for the second time in a couple of days...
We got nine tenths of an inch of rain here in Sioux Falls yesterday. The sun has come out and it's supposed to get up to about 66 degrees this afternoon, so it looks like we will have a pretty nice day here.
I'm going to meet with my banker later this week, I am refinancing my mortgage in an effort to climb out of some credit card debt that I have. I had to have my house appraised last week and on Friday my banker informed me that the appraisal met the requirements for the loan. I will be taking my credit card statements to my banker at Home Federal and she will pay off my accounts for me out of the money that Home Federal is going to loan me. It's going to feel real good to get the credit card monkeys off my back! And I might be able to use whatever is left over to pay for some remodeling of my kitchen.

.....Seems lots of folks are into the mowing bit now...I mowed this past Saturday....for the 8th time so far this season...Started the "act" on March 27th...Got on it pretty early for this northern climate. But it's looking pretty nice.
Did you or are you all having wind? We had tremendous wind Fri/Sat and some yesterday! Blew my bonnet and hair into the street..................
Nice day today and then more moisture tonite and tomorrow, I think.
Mookie, and others, it's good to be back! I did miss everyone, and being around here.
We didn't have any big winds over the weekendl; think the winds around here were about 5 mph the entire weekend. I was just out in the backyard, talking with the man who cuts our grass (he wanted to get it cut, before the rain this afternoon), and the breeze seems to be picking up some, now. Sky kind of looks like the rain might come in before mid afternoon, but that's probably anybody's guess, when it will actually start.
I've got some pork chop abracadbra going in the Crock Pots, so that will be ready in time for lunch. Will have some potatoes, carrots, and green peas, broccoli, and brussels sprouts as side dishes. I think there'll be enough of everything, even for supper tonight. Unless anyone wants something else for supper/dinner.

I know I need to be patient, but it's hard when people in all directions are getting great storms and I'm just getting some light rain and a rumble of thunder. One of the colleges I'm considering is the University of Oklahoma in Norman, so maybe things will be better down there.
A tour of Global Weather Central at Offutt would be great for this summer. I'll have to get that letter written sometime soon!
Willy - that darn wind was just unbelieveable this weekend. Did you get the big blow up there Friday and Sat? All the trains that were headed south sounded like they were all in our bathroom (had that south window open!)
Also - we usually see all the new power on our coal trains, but I saw a new engine and an SD40 right behind it - heading for the coal fields. That was kind of unique!

"Great" in this context might not be the correct adjective.
Not so "great" when your family is cowering in a crawl space as they see the tornado descending on their home that they have worked their entire life to build.
Or not so "great" when someone you know is a cripple due to being struck by lightning.
Believe me, Willy, when I say to you that I once shared your enthusiasm for exciting storms. Fortunately (or unfortunately), my years of experience have caused me to see storms from a completely different perspective.
Storms are quite fascinating, the destruction they cause is not.
well we had some wind today but no rain. probably a better chance on wed.Cw will need a plate for work tonight.matts ready to get washed up so I better go get behind his ears.
