CW if I could get you plane tickets here to Florida I would do that. It's about at least thirty five degrees, but it would probably last till tomorrow at the latest.

I could go for some pie myself. mmmm Cherry if you have it

One Word:

COLD!!!!!

It's 13 right now in Greater Cincy. Calling for 9 tonight. Looks like the whole week through next weekend is going to be a humdinger of winter.

Well, it's a quarter after 8:00 here and we have a temp of 11 degrees above 0, and with the wind out of the south at 9 mph, that leaves us with a wind chill factor of -1 degree below 0.

I had a new furnace installed in my basement just after Christmas of 2002, and my brother-in-law who installed it is a plumbing & heating contractor. I think I remember him telling me to simply leave my thermostat set at 66 or 68 degrees and that way my furnace would run a lot more efficiantly. I don't think I need to worry about my plumbing freezing during the night.

My slowly aging body though, has it's own thermostat it seems, and I am always cold. I will be going to bed within another hour or so, and I sleep under several layers; cotton bed sheet, two knitted blankets, a cotton bed spread, a star quilt which one of my sisters made for me, a wool indian blanket, and a sleeping bag, which I have unzipped all the way, I lay it across my bed with the polyester side up and it serves as a comforter. And.........I have an extra wool blanket in my basement if I need it!!

......Strange, our temp has gone up a bit in the last few hours...Now..{well it was up to 17 something}, but just took a look and we're now at 16.5, and with a bit of wind.  Just flurries at times not making much headway on accumulation.

Good Monday morning to all!  Joe, thanks so very much for the extra blanket.  I slept nice and warm and cozy all night!  Our current temp is 15, with a wind chill of 0.  Just glad I don't have to get out this morning.

Nightrain, thanks for the offer!!

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, grits, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs.

Got plenty of coffee on, hot water for tea and cocoa, and have plenty of milk to make hot chocolate.

Guess that's about all from me this morning, except everyone have a great day, and stay warm, dry and safe.

We have 21 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and with the wind blowing out of the WNW at 7 mph, that leaves us with a wind chill of 13 degrees. At least we are not sitting at 13 below 0. I will be dropping into the Diner for a cup of hot chocolate pretty soon.

And a Tip Top of the Morning to You All,

Sorry to hear that the rest of you are finally getting some winter. You'll get used to it after awhile (say 6 weekends in a row with appreciable accumulation of snow). Oh well, one has to make do with what one is given from Weatherman Willy and his Wacky Weekend Weather Machine.

Sunday morning I decided to head out and see if I could find anything to get a picture of in the new snow. I started on the Moffat Line. Saw a couple eastbounds before sunup, but after that the line was Dead [xx(]. After waiting a couple hours, I decided to call "no joy." I decided to take the scenic way back, though through Golden, and see if I could at least get a shot of the Beer Run. I found him, and got this shot:

I didn't really like this shot, though (too much background clutter, most of the train is in shadows, etc.) so I had planned to chase him back into Arvada. Alas! there was a switch job out on the line, so the Beer Run had to wait. I couldn't wait, as I have a couple pups I'm baby-sitting that were probably getting a little anxious for breakfast. Oh well, at least I didn't come back completely empty-handed, I guess.

Well, I guess I had better be on my way. I hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

Nice shot, Chris! And no, I don't think there is too much clutter in the backround. I do not think I could have done better myself in the same spot.Thumbs Up [tup]

That is an awesome shot. Any BNSF engine looks great in any kind of light....then again that must be just me

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the "barf  bonnet"? I don't believe I have ever seen that paint scheme on BNSF engines before. Unless I missed something

Coffee, and pancakes and sausage sound good to me this morning, and good morning everyone. Kinda backwards but I haven't had my caffine fix yetBig Smile [:D] Dinner [dinner]

That's because your "bad" shots are equivalent or better than my "good" shots.

I'll have a couple to link to tonight that I got in Fairfax, IA yesterday while attending a family birthday gathering.  The UP transcon was just a block away, so I could grab shots and then duck back inside the party room to warm up (and eat chocolate cake)!

Good afternoon, folks!  On the warmer bar, you will find, for lunch:

1.  beef stew w/cornbread

2.  beef noodles

3.  pork chop abracadbra

#s 2 & 3 will be served with tossed salad, baked potato

And for dessert, we have:  chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, cherry pie, and pecan pie.

Everyone have a great afternoon, stay safe and warm.

Chris - That shot brings two thoughts to mind - conflicting in a way.  One, the railroad is insignificant compared to the landscape, yet, it's still a significant part of our world.

Good Afternoon!

What a busy day! I hope the rest of the week is a little calmer, but being Catholic Schools Week, it's sure to be crazy. For homework tonight I had geometry, history, theology, spanish, and english. Not only that, but also a geometry quiz and a chemistry test to study for. To make matters worse, there is a campus ministry meeting at 7:45 this evening and who knows how late that will go. I already have geometry, history, and spanish done, but I still have the tests to study for and the theology. I guess my relaxation for the evening is over. Time to get to work again!

TTFN.

Well, I see someone asked, "What's for supper tonight?"  Here is the answer:

1.  beef noodles w/salad and baked potatoes

2.  porkchop abracadbra w/salad and baked potatoes

DESSERTS:  SAME AS ON THE LUNCH MENU TODAY.

Everyone have a great evening, and I'll be back in later, hopefully.

I haven't seen Dan nor Dan.  But then, I've been a little busy the past few days and not really paying much attention to what's going on with this forum.

CW, thank you again for your hard work.  I'll have the porkchop tonight.  Dinner [dinner]
