LC, I've made myself a note of your request of tacos, black beans and rice for tomorrow.  Now, do you want that for lunch or supper tomorrow?!?!

Nightrain, hope your heartburn is easing up, and also hope you feel better tomorrow.

Amtrak arriving in Utica today, with snow on the ground.  Of the Amtraks due in while I was there (Toy Train Collectors show), it was the only one on time (the other two were two hours late).

I'll upload it tomorrow for your edification....

I'll be alright, it's just another one of those pregnancy woes that I gotta deal with. I have to admit though, I would rather have this than that morning sickness I keep hearing about

Sounds great to me.  It will go well with my Spanish class fiesta tomorrow.

Nice to see the new thread is up and running well. I have not contributed in quite a while, but i will try to come by more often.

Morning everyone!  Looks like it's 'Da Bears' vs. the Colts for XLI.  Should be a good game.  For breakfast today it's eggs, bacon, sausages, and hash browns.  You all know where the liquids are and they're ready!

Back later!

Lots of old/new faces dropping in.  That's good.  We need some new voices in here!

Glad to see Sir Chicken is back home where he belongs.  He is easier to find that way.

Willy - well, your predicition was right on.  7 inches later.  Ugh!

This is for Tree:  You said you were out on a "difficulty breathing", which sounds like our department.  But the thing that stands out most is the number of calls of "seizure".  I have been around a day or two and have only known one girl in school who had an actual Grand Mal seizure.  Now it seems to be the flavor of the month.  Why so many and have they given the term to something that just looks like a seizure or is related to the increased drug use?

Going to curl up in the rocker - try not to rock on my own tail.

Congrats to new Mama-to-be.  Almost like working on the railroad - a real life-altering experience!  Smile [:)]

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Well, apparently I slept very, very good last night:  I didn't even wake up until 7:20.

Dan, thank you for making the coffee, fixing fresh juice, and breakfast.

Emmar, glad to see you drop by, please come in whenever you can.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll see you in a bit, when my eyes are more awake than they are currently.Sleepy [|)]

I think a lot has to do with what people are aware of.  True seizures by people known to suffer from any seizure disorder are actually rare - most folk have their situation well in hand.  There are some who are not very disciplined in keeping up with their treatment, and those whose condition is very volatile (the dose that works one day doesn't another), but they are in the minority.

There are other causes of seizures.  Little ones can have a febrile seizure - usually when they have a sudden onset high grade (104-105) fever.

Seizure can be a symptom/result of a stroke - which, along with heart attacks, is a growing problem.

Sometimes people report that a loved one is having a seizure because they don't know what else to call the situation.

Then there are the petit mal seizures.  You may be right next to someone having one and not even realize it, as many times they simply seem to "zone out."  I read about a group of high school kids who became aware that one of their number suffered petit mal seizures.  They would occasionally scatter when they realized she was having one, leaving her alone, with the sensation one gets when you see a home movie where someone suddenly disappears...

The two calls I ran the other morning were a difficulty breathing and a chest pain.  In the end, it appears that both may well have been related to the bug that's been going around here.  In both cases, any difficulty breathing was secondary to the pain in their lower chest/upper abdomen - it hurt to take a deep breath.  That would be as opposed to someone who has a true lung problem such as asthma or emphysema.

And on the weather front - Son called yesterday while I was away at the Train Show.  Said his area was in the teeth of a terrible blizzard.  So far they had about an inch of snow.  Confused [%-)]

Of course, those familiar with the National Capital Region will know that an inch of snow is a big deal there....

We have a few inches at my place.  On my way to the train show I passed through the snow belt, where a lot of very happy snowmobilers were out enjoying their avocation.

Morning All,

I'm just going to grab a quick coffee and then I have to head out and start shoveling another 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff that was supposed to head south and hit Albuquerque. One of these days (if it ever warms up), I need to wash the cruiser, too. I can't remember what color she is under all the Ice Slicer/Mag-Chloride/Who-Knows-What on her. I think I had better dig out the primer I wrote on winter driving a couple years ago, too. Despite a constant supply of snow this year, it seems there are still some that haven't figured out how to drive in it yet.

Oh well, I'll be in later. Hope you all have a great day!

As promised - nothing special, aside from the fact that it was, in fact, on time....

Utica Union Station.  Notice the numerous railfans on the bridge, watching the action....

I think this was 283...  Didn't write it down.

Well, I haven't heard back from LC, so I will assume the tacos, black beans and Spanish rice will be for supper tonight.

For lunch, we'll have:  BLTs, leftover roast, taters, carrots, leftover beef stew w/fresh baked cornbread, and there's plenty ( I made extra yesterday) creamed corn to have with lunch today.

Guess that's about it for right now, so everyone enjoy your lunch (and breakfast is still out for those on the west coast), and I'll talk with you later.

I'll take a couple of BLT's and taters, with a large PepsiDinner [dinner]

I should post my train pics on here, even if I only took three of them. I think I will do that.

If it's the train I think it is, Penn Station to Niagara Falls, all stops.  For all intents and purposes, a local....

An aside - I had my radio set for the mainline channel, and as Amtrak was clearing the station, I heard an eastbound hit the defect detector a couple miles west of there.  Knowing that many of the trains run through there at track speed (60), I shooed a bunch of people back from the track.  Of course, those with cameras appreciated the heads-up, too...

Okay, everyone:  the tacos, enchiladas, black beans, Spanish rice, shreddeded lettuce w/diced onion and tomato are now on the warmer bar, for your dining enjoyment.  Hope everyone is happy with their supper, and for dessert you have:  chocolate pie, coconut cream pie, and pecan pie for dessert.
