How long are the tunnels involved....?
Q: These two tunnels are what takes I-70 under the Continental Divide. (1.6+ miles each and anything but straight)

We are in there on a new revised effort to monitor movement of the tunnel walls and geological movement in the tunnel. We are doing control surveys to go along with a CYRAX measurements effort. (Transit mounted reflectorless EDM gear that shoots a "point cloud" that gives you a bazillion little dot points reflected back on any solid object the CYRAX gear shoots and picks up)...This was all in the works long before Minneapolis and when they found the big cracks in the Glenwood "No Name" tunnels.

Good Friday morning, everyone! And Happy Friday to all!! Just thought I'd drop by for a couple of minutes, and grab whatever's on the warmer bar for breakfast. Think I'll take a couple of biscuits w/sausage gravy, a couple of sausages, and some hash browns. I'm kind of hungry this morning! Woke up at 2 a.m., and had to pull covers over me. I was cold!!
Think I'll try to make it back in here for lunch: fish and sides sound really good today!
You all are doing a terrific job around here, in my absence. Everything looks like it's being kept up, and kept clean!!
Happy weekend to all who won't be in over the next two days, and you all take care!!

Never saw that thing in Golden. Think I'd stay with the 1:1 scale, bright /shiny/ red & well maintained EMD switch engines in their yard. I'm partial to some of their craft barley pop - good stuff.
Chris: Fall colors on the drive back from Glenwood yesterday were quite good. Snow is starting to stick in the shade in some places in the high country. Diesel mouse #21 was outside at Silver Plume with #9 still missing its running gear. Uncle Pete was busy. If you are coming or going Sunday night through Thursday night, 10PM until 6AM, keep an eye out for us traversing through Eisenhower or Johnson Tunnel on the other side of the traffic cones. (don't know how I'm gonna behave in a tunnel that is all lit up, like daylight, without a train in it)
Mutt glad you and CW are doing better.Yes its friday.we have juice coffee and hot chocolate today.I could see my breath this morning.highs in the 70s lows in the fortys.good time to go watch trains.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Having seen the real Coors train - this one is pretty classy. It always makes me uneasy when we see the pre-beer mix going by in really rusty topped tankers. You know it is Coors, so you would think they would at least try to make it a little more appetizing. Ugh. Now I know why beer tastes so bad!
Walt - that was our storm a couple of days ago. Tomorrow - we will be very warm and 40 mph winds. Allergies have become an epidemic around here!
TGIF and OTTAN - (off to take a nap!)
Thanks for the link to the Thread & Videos, I needed a Very Good Laugh for today!!
(I looked for it last night myself and couldn't find it either)
Uh, I think I'll stick to my regular brand of beer, and my 2 rail O Scale!!
[Now if Lionel, MTH, Williams, etc. come out with a handcar that has Garfield swatting the Spiders with a newspaper, I might bite!]
Not sure if Willy's Weather Wonder malfunctioned overnight or not. About 5:30 this
morning we were "Jolted" out of bed by several Very Loud Thunder Claps, and got to see one of the best Pyro-Technic Shows we've seen for awhile here in the Ohio Valley!! Even got Even got about an inch and a half's worth of rain in about 30 minutes.
(which we desperately needed, we're only about 9 inches under for this time of year.)
[CW was wondering how fast she could move with the walker!]
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

PS bullet train engine looks like it has a paddlewheel and no steam chests. so much for accuracy. at least it will teach young kids about beer.

I took the time to wander over there and search for that link, and I can't find it.
But enough of that, I gotta hit the sidewalk and get to work. Are there donuts to go available this morning?

At least it isn't like what i see on the commercials during hockey games. Anyway it is quite funny to see a model train geek try to sell a beer train, so definitly take a look.-Back to studying.emmar

I just finished making a gallon of homemade vanilla ice cream, and I've put it away in the freezer here in the Diner. It will go well with the pie that Joe is providing for dessert tonight.

That's for really BIG beagles!
Jay - I have personally never been there, but know first-hand that the property there must be very expensive. Had a gentleman that insisted his address was such and so (in one of the Carolinas) but the post office said no. His mail was still sorted at a post office inland. He was very indignant that I just couldn't get his address right (the way he wanted it). And I tried to tell him that the post office wouldn't deliver it w/o the correct address.
Bottom line - a hurricane came by and destroyed the whole area.
Not me - no heck no. Had nothing to do with that!

Jay - "Duck"? Animal or warning?
We don't know for sure. The town was incorporated about 5 years ago. Linda says she will research the issue. Personally, I think it is a warning, as in Duck!- Carpenter coming with another 2X6, or Duck! When asking for the list price on that new waterfront home. (One could probably find a fully restored open platform office car for a lower price and still have the money to take lots of trips.)

Tree- We really enjoyed our trip to the Outer Banks. Started at the top, hit all the spots, took the ferry to Ocrakoke Island and from there the ferry to Cedar Island. Made our way down to Wilmington and then back on an inland route.
In the course of planning, we reserved a big house on the beach at Duck for a week next May and plan to have the family join us. Should be fun.

Say that Fast, Five times in a row while watching the Full Moon!!
Forgot about the full moon....
The paper said this morning that the big brush fire was the eighth in that area in just a few weeks - I thought it sounded awful familiar. Nothing certain, but arson is certainly looking like a good prospect.
We set a new record high here yesterday at 89, but the chili is in the pot, simmering away!
morning
CW glad to see you back!! Mookie we got your rain and a light show with it.juice and coffee are ready.we have chili warming up in the crockpots along with some more cornbread.the chili is mild, medium and 5 alarm.for those from the southern ohio pasta, hotdogs and cheese are available to make 3 ways.
as far as the b units mookie you answered your own question.no seats and the main engine goes bad???
Good to see CW back, even for a few minutes.
Joe - we have seen several of those B units through here at one time or another. Now I have to question why we don't see them more often - especially on freight. Maybe not having a cab has something to do with it, but don't know. They could use them as a 3rd motor, couldn't they?
Spokey - we eat, sleep and breathe football and now volleyball!
Now about food. It was in the 40's here this morning - time for BBQ and chili. Tree?
(Tree - they poo-poo the full moon, but we had our 2nd homicide of the year and you had a lot of your calls - under the full moon... )
