Thing is, at 4am, I'm just getting to sleep!!!

Not too much else happening here, one of my parents favorite restaurants burned down earlier in the week, Moy's over in Elkhorn.  I was never big on Chinese food, so the family didn't go there often, but mom and dad used to go quite a bit.

Willy, if you don't quit fiddling around with that weather machine, I'm going to make it very uncomfortable for you, and I'm sure Mudchicken and Chris would only be too glad to assist me!!  Supposed to be 40 today, then rain, sleet and light snow tonight, then the temps drop, then snow on Sunday and Monday, could be quite the storm, then the bottom drops out of the temperature.

See everyone later.

No Dan, I was only teasing about me getting up at 4 a.m.!  You are more than welcome, to come in at 4 a.m., and get things started.  I don't mind at all.  It's nice to have some very, very good helpers in here:  you, Mutt, Joe, Ray, Larry, Mookie and Randy Vos, and Sarah.  And, of course, little Matt (even though he's taller than I am, I think.

SactoGuy and Ray, your wish is my command:  beef stew, chicken noodle soup, chili and plenty of cornbread are on the warmer bar, just waiting for everyone to start rolling in for lunch.  And for those on the west coast, there's still plenty of Dan's breakfast items still on the warmer bar, also.

Right now we have a temperature of 25 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, but with the wind blowing out of the northwest, it actually feels like 13 degrees. By 9:00 PM here the temp will have dropped to 15, and the wind chill will place us at 0. Tomorrow's temperature is not supposed to get above 6 degrees and the wind chill will be a minus 10 degrees below 0.

So let's bring on the hot chilli, beef stew and chicken noodle soup!!Chef [C=:-)]Dinner [dinner]

I've got a feeling that I will end up staying home tomorrow, rather than to be out looking for work, and I will probably be drinking a lot of hot chocolate.

Good morning and thanks for all that breakfast food! Dinner [dinner]

By the way, we need to make a LOT of "hot comfort food" over the next 3-4 days. It's supposed to get down to 24° F. in the mornings in Sacramento, CA over the next few days. Shock [:O] In short, make lots of hot beef stew, hot chili, and hot chicken noodle soup.

Morning All,

Thanks Brian and RJ for the kind words about the shot! Blush [:I] Brian, the best advice I can give you is to avoid big glass as much as possible. It's highly addictive, and you'll soon be suffering from LBA (a term from my Pentax forum...it stands for Lens Buying Addiction). Telephoto stuff, and high speed stuff seem to be the worst.

For instance, that shot was taken with a 300mm f2.8. Lo and behold, now I'm craving a 500mm f4.5, and am even looking at a 600mm f4. Doh! On top of that, I'm kind of missing my Canon 400mm f5.6L (great birding lens...small and light enough to use handheld, but oh so sharp! even wide open). So I'm also keeping an eye out for an FA*400mm f5.6. The list also contains a lot of shorter focal length lenses, too. Sigh.....it is a disease!

At any rate, should you feel the need to get some bigger glass, let me know, and I can give a couple pointers for that "other" brand that I used to use. You might check about rental information, too. One of the nice things about your brand is that every rental shop offers them(not the case with Pentax). You might be able to rent anything up to a 600mm f4L IS at a decent rate (out here that lens runs $100 per day...but you only get charged one day for a whole weekend). Could be a neat way to play with some big glass without breaking the bank.

Well, guess I had better be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

Good Thursday morning, to one and all!  Gee, Dan, am I gonna have to get up at 4 a.m., to beat you in here?!?!  Thanks for making breakfast again!  Here, Mookie, let me get that little dab of cream cheese off your cheek.  There now, you look good as new!

Larry, that bbq tomorrow sounds like a great idea.  If you need any help, I'll be available all day tomorrow.

Dan - I will snag a blueberry beagle.  I can even work the toaster, but with no opposable thumb, someone will need to smear the cream cheese on it.  Oh wait.  I chewed the top off, so I can just bite the beagle and lick.....mmmmm  gooooood.......

Wonder why collie flower doesn't taste this good?

Morning everyone, I've been a cookin' machine!  Today I made some breakfast fajitas and egg 'n sausage biscuits.  You can add bacon, cheese, or substitute out the sausage or egg.  I've got some ham slices warmed up that go great with the home made rolls.  I also decided to make some pancakes and waffles and have some variety of those too.  There's plain, blueberry, chocolate chip, and bananna.  I've got some maple syrup, apricot syrup, and strawberry jam you can put on them.  For those in a lighter mood I do have a couple of bagels and donuts of varying flavor yet.  The coffee's hot, all the juices and milk are cold, plus there's hot water and bags of tea for those that want some.  Enjoy all!

Whew!  It is noticeably colder out there right now than it was yesterday.  But I still managed to get a good walk in.  Supposed to get a little colder, bottoming out on Friday, and then heading back upward.

Stay warm, everyone!

Somebody want some cold?  We got lots!  Never got above 22 today, and it's about 8 right now.  Was tied up with projects at work today, so missed all the meals.

On the other hand, I'm off Friday, due to the federal holiday on Monday, so I'll be available to take care of that third kind of BBQ - but you won't find any dirty ones in what I prepare!

Friday - plan ahead!  The chicken is all seasoned and "resting" before the Friday roasting and the rest of the fixin's are in the cooler hiding (coleslaw, mac salad, potato salad, baked beans).  If I get ambitious tomorrow night, I'll turn out some pies for dessert!

So yea.... the high temerature for friday here is supposed to be 7. but if it is gonna be like usual, the forcast temp. is about 5 degrees to high. Remember, the cold weather will be heading east, Enjoy!

I'm not looking forward to this arctic blast---and I'll get it before you do!  Somebody asked about empty gons being blown off the track.  That might be Reno/Sparks as we sometimes (like today) get sustained winds of 70 mph with gusts over 100 mph.  Semis are usually what get blown over, but I would guess train cars could also fall victim.

Mmmm, little smokies in BBQ sauce along with BBQ Pork!  I'll have a good bit of each, some coffee and pie along with many thanks to the respective chefs.   And Ms. Mookie, let me tuck a bib in around you.  You'd look just awful with BBQ sauce all in your fur!

Well, the chili, beef stew, cornbread, bbq, and Ray's mini sausage links are on the warmer bar.  So everybody grab a plate, and head on to the warmer bar, and fill your plates up.  Along with Ray's homemade bread.   Thanks, Ray!!

Desserts tonight:  chocolate cake, white cake w/white icing (Jim, are you here?!?!), pecan pie and fresh pineapple, apples, pears and strawberries are on the list for tonight.

Willy can't scare me - they scared me a few days ago with the weather threat.  I think this will be a rather bad end of week and weekend.  So Willy is off the hook.

Speaking of BBQ chicken, where is my favorite "I am over my beady little eyes in snow" feathered friend?
