Maybe if they get different "beancounters" you all wouldn't have to worry so much.

Good Monday morning and HAPPY LABOR DAY to all!!  All this talk of vehicles, makes me wish I could afford my dream vehicle:  a Dodge Dakota.

Joe, thanks for making the coffee, juice and bringing in the doughnuts!!  In a couple of hours, I'll be putting things on the grills for this afternoon's cookout.  Got everything prepared, and in the fridge, before I went to sleep last night.

Looks like we'll be back in the nineties today, and the next two, three days.  Then, rain supposedly coming in Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid to upper eighties.

Everyone have a good morning!!

Wow - Busy weekend!

Speaking of holiday traffic - had to make a run to daughter's house Friday night to retrieve my digital camera (she used it for a wedding - come to think of it, she like's to experiment - I'd better check the settings) which normally takes about an hour and change.  Traffic going town to Syracuse wasn't bad - all the vacationers were headed north.  The trip back was a little different, however.  I still don't know what caused the five+ mile traffic backup.  I gave up and took a U turn back to the last exit and travelled a parallel US highway past the blockage.

Busy weekend on the railroad - we carried over 300 on Sunday, which is pretty impressive for the summer season.  Fall colors will bring out 200+ per train.

Good thing Adrianspeeder hasn't been around, with all this talk about Fords.

Of course, that's why I drive a GMC...

Beautiful day out today, so I believe I'll go labor in the yard!

Anyone ready for eating?!?!  Below is a list of things hot off the grills:

Roast, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, steaks (porterhouse, t-bones, rib eyes, sirloin), pork chops, corn on the cob, 'baked' potatoes, steamed broccoli, red and yellow peppers, purple onions.  Right from the fridge:  cole slaw, three-bean salad, various Jell-O salads, potato salad, macaroni salad, tea, soft drinks, Gatorade, lemonade, fruit punch, tropical punch.

Desserts:  brownies, chocolate cake, homemade, hand churned ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, butter pecan, peach and strawberry.

Joe and Lance, just in case you two go back to work tonight, there are several containers apiece for you, to take to work tonight.

Hope everyone has enjoyed your holiday weekend, and also hope you enjoy the cookout tonight.

Mutt - Coated the driveway and put a skim coat of concrete on the front walk.  That's labor enough.  I do need to vacuum, though.

A couple of burgers, with, and some potato salad would certainly hit spot about now.  Maybe an ear of that corn.  The three-bean salad sounds good, too.  Tough call between the lemonade and some sweet iced tea, but the peach ice cream is a no-brainer.

Well, we've had a semi quiet day here ourselves, watched a DVD or two and helped

daughter run an extension cord and vacuum out her vehicle.

(boy does that job suck!!)

(unfortunately, we didn't get to do any train watching!)

That Peach Ice Cream does sound really good

Good Tuesday afternoon to all!  First time I've been on the computer today.  Since no one else has been in today, I think we'll have brunch this afternoon.  So, mosey on over to the warmer bar, and you will find:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits & sausage gravy, fried taters and home fries; in the cooler:  slaw, garden salads, sliced tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon and mushmelon.

Desserts:  plenty of cakes (chocolate, etc.), pies  and cobblers.

Drinks:  coffee, tea, lemonade, fruit punch, and grape Kool-Aid.

And for supper tonight, we'll have our MEXICAN FIESTA.  Hope to see you all in here this afternoon and tonight!!

Well, everything from brunch is put in the fridge for tomorrow, and our TUESDAY NIGHT MEXICAN FIESTA is now laid out on the warmer bar.  We have:  burritos (beef & bean, beef only), tacos, enchiladas, quasadillas, Spanish rice, refried beans, and a few other Mexican dishes.

There is plenty of iced tea, lemonade, fruit punch, Gatorade, etc. (except for alcoholic beverages, which we do not serve in here), so help yourselves, and take your plates either here in the Diner, or out to the patio.

Joe and Lance, containers are ready and in the fridge for you guys to take to work tonight!

Everyone have a great evening, and take care!!

Uh, aren't you supposed to do the Beano before you eat those things?!Confused [%-)]

As far as the emails go, it sounds like Bell South/A T & T are messing with us again.

And from the phone calls we've made to them, they don't seem to know which end is up!!

Bell South has been bad enough, but after merger, or absorbsion by A T & T, things

have gotten worse.

Good Wednesday morning!  Dan, maybe that's where everyone is:  out gathering up supplies, to hold you all over, while I'm gone.  Glad to see you back in today!

Coffee is brewed, fresh juices made, along with fresh tea and lemonade.  Going to be another hot one around here, today.

Fresh doughnuts, waffles, pancakes, sausage and bacon , along with scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit are on the breakfast bar.  (I just hope people come in and will eat and talk this morning!!)

Dan, thanks for the email!!

I'm getting ready to go to the library, so just stopped in, to let you all know that there are plenty of leftovers in the fridge, from yesterday and Monday.  Please, just help yourselves to whatever you want for your lunch, and I'll see you all when I get back later this afternoon.

Lunch!  Finally I can see over the piles of paper.  It has been a very hectic last 30 or so days!Anyway, maybe I can stay on top of some of the goings on in the forum now.

Joe:  Don't tell Matt, but I had a short funeral in the backyard this morning.  Driver found a sick turtledove last nite when he was putting clean water in the bird bowls.  It was on the ground all nite and then went quietly sometime during the nite.  I had a short funeral at 4:30 am with interment in the garbage can.  I used a broom handle to check for rigor and a plastic sack for a casket.  A moment of mourning and a few tears and then as per most funerals, breakfast followed.

Had one several months ago - a starling flew in to get a drink of water and while the Driver watched, it fell over dead in the water bowl.  I know Lincoln's water is hard, but we have never suffered ill-effects like that!

Wish the wildlife would find someone else's yard to practice their lack of oxygen pose.....

MC - Millie shares the garage with a little boy right now.  Neighbor has a VW sportmobile - black.  Have a place cleared for the Bigboy whenever they want to deliver it.  And she wants to know why you don't come up and see her sometime!

CW - leftovers have a big hole in them....wonder what happened.

See our native son Warren is at it again - 25% now.  I am excited.

Haven't heard from Houston Ed - but almost cringe when I see the weather channel.....Think he would settle for a "blizzard" now instead of so much water?   Willy?  Pull a plug somewhere?

Tree - burned down another house last nite.  Had a compressor and a partly restored car in garage - poof....now they have a partly destroyed house.

Mutt - I told the "Old Engineer" that I mention him occasionally on the forum and that you gave me an old CBQ spike.  He actually smiled about all that!  He will be 90 the end of this month and not too much excites him anymore - especially the railroading part.

Had a graduation in August, so another pile of work to do - a little smaller this time.  About 2200 last time - maybe 1/2 that this time.  Job security - one sheet at a time!

Brian - get away from that donut....(snarl)

Mook!
