Morning all.  Time to flip the lights on and get the coffee started.  I'll try to get back later with some bearclaws before work starts.

Good Tuesday morning to one and all.  Looks like things were very slow in here last night.  Well, it is summertime and folks are busy when they get off work, aren't they?!?!

Dan, thanks for turning the lights on, and making the coffee.  I've got fresh oj, oj-tangerine, and grape juice all ready for this morning.  And to go along with the bear claws, I've got bagels set out on the counter, along with cantaloupe and watermelon chunks in the cooler.

Looks like we'll have another hot and muggy day here, with a 40% chance of afternoon thunder showers/storms; with a higher chance tomorrow.

Everyone have a good day.  Think I'll head out to the garden, and wait for Mookie to show up!  Hopefully, it's cool in the garden, this morning!

See the smirk on my mug!  No bad noises today!  The LFD was called here last nite at 7:40pm (remember I have a scanner) for same problem.  They asked for history and were told an employee called in around 05:00 - I am yelling at the scanner - "No!  5:35!".....

Anyway - Houston Ed - I really would have liked to lean on that nice young man standing closest to me.  "Sonny, could you help me down the stairs to my office chair.  I am feeling a little feeble this morning!"....  :)

Dan - I read an article in our local rag about teenagers detasseling corn.  Not a job I would really want to tackle!  But I think for a first job, it teaches them a whole lot about hard work.

CW - warm up the seats, I am on my way.

Willy - check your e-mail.  (give me a little time this morning to get it to you.)

CW - BBQ beef/pork on a bun and a salad for supper?  It is cooler and tons more humid (79% and 72 degrees!) - icky!

Ugh.

In my job I feel like I'm detasseling adults!  Can be messy.  On a positive note the guy who freaked on me came in this morning before he went to work and apologized to me for his behavior.  That was decent of him.

I hear that CNW 8646 is somewhere in the state this morning.  If it's around this afternoon I'm goin' a chasin' that rascal!

Good Morning!

Mookie - Got the email.

It is refreshingly cool outside this morning. Highs in the lower 80s and lows in the upper 50s for the rest of the week. For July, this is pretty nice.

Everyone have a good day! TTFN.

Mookie, I happen to have some beef barbecue, and I'm fixing some for lunch, and will fix more for supper, to go along with our TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA.  As a matter of fact, we'll also be having some taco salads for lunch today.  I even have some sweet pickle slices for the barbecue sandwiches.  And if anyone doesn't like sweet pickles, we've got some kosher dill pickle spears, also.

For tonight's menu, we'll have more tacos, enchiladas, beef burritos enchilada style, Spanish rice, quasadillas, and anything else Mexican we can find to fix.

I am now putting everything out on the warmer bar, and the salads are in the cooler.

Tuesday Produce went fairly well.  They brought us potatoes, zuchini, leaf lettuce, cauliflower, and spinach. We had about 75 people come today.  That's been our biggest crowd since back in the winter.

Make mine a shredded beef quesadilla with 2 soft tacos, 2 cheese enchilladas, rice and beans please...

Nothing like good Mexican Food to sweat off a few pounds...

We'd better not give it to MC though, he may just blow away. Perhaps if we keep his gatoraide IV all the way open he'll stay on Terra Firma...

Hot, Hot, Hot in the Northeast today. Getting my humidity knife out.

Could we have some good ol' Texas Hots and maybe some Coneys for lunch tomorrow. Fries would be nice too and maybe onion rings. I'll bring extra Lipitor...

Willy,

Its 97 outside right now...might get down to the low 80 by midnight...we have some of LC's humidity too...

LC...Now that sounds like a good idea....maybe even slice up some avocadoes...do a watermelon or two for dessert...throw in some sweet tea and pecan pie...

(by the way, cholesterol is just another word for flavor)

I say we hook a fire hose up to a tank car of Gatorade for the MC, just in case.

Mookie...I don't think they would miss him for a little while!Wink [;)]

LC, let me know what exactly Texas Hots are, and I'll fix that tomorrow, along with some coneys.

As for tonight, our TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA IS NOW UNDERWAY!  Everything is laid out on the warmer bar, and the lettuce, tomatoes, etc., are in the cooler.  I'll have to make sure I go refill my cholesterol medicine in the morning!!  Looks like I'll need it tomorrow.

And Ed, watermelon sounds really good for dessert!!

You all have a nice, cool evening, and enjoy your supper!!

Texas Hots are a large hot dog with special red "Texas" hot sauce. Below is a description from the Buffalo, NY area:

"The Texas Hot style hot dog is another regional delicacy, teaming a Sahlens or Wardynski hot dog with mustard, slivered white onion and Texas Style meat sauce on a steamed hot dog roll."

Hope that gives you the idea. "Sahlens" and "Wardynski" are local sausage makers in the Buffalo area. Texas Hots were always a great lunch when pulling pins on a cold night on the hump at Frontier Yard. The canteen there made great ones...

Good Wednesday morning to one and all!  Getting some light rain at the moment:  thundershowers/storms are headed our way.  Should be here very soon.

LC, thanks for letting me know what "Texas Hots" are!!  They'll be ready at 12 noon EDT, along with some BLTS, fries, and whatever else anyone requests for lunch today.

Coffee is ready, hot water for tea, juices and lemonade are also freshly made this morning.

On the warmer bar, you will find:  turkey bacon, sausage patties and sausage links, home fries, homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and even some Spanish and Western omelletes, cantaloupe and melon chunks, sliced red and yellow tomatoes.

Everyone have a great morning, and I'll be back after the storms here are over.

Hmmm....note to LC:  Had Taco Bell last nite and they put some mighty hot onions on my chicken taco.  Guess I am not going to do well on the spicy food tasting.

Tree:  alarm still on "don't go off" mode.  Wonder how long we will work w/o a fire alarm.....

Did you recover from all your "hookups?"  (not sure that sounds quite right)  Instead of your 5 min spiel, just bring up Trains and the diner.  Believe me, they will be so impressed you will leave them speechless!  Big Smile [:D]

Cantaloupe sounds good.  I think for supper we should do.......assorted kibble!  Try something new for a change? Put milk on it if it is too dry.....

Must rest after all that!

....Paula:  I see, on the weather map of the whole country a band of weather right across you, but then up by Ill. there is a big "H" system that looks to me, like it will be pushing that system east and south....So....looks like we're going to stay high and dry again, and still....!

We really need rain and today was to be a day we had a chance to get some but now....??  Hopefully, maybe the heat of the afternoon might stir up a few showers but to cover where....Only a chance.  We are dry.....!  And Hot.

We have 56 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and the humidity here is sitting at 80%. It's supposed to warm up to about 78 here this afternoon, not too bad. It was quite hot and mugly here on Sunday afternoon when I walked home from my job at Wendy's. It's only a 20-minute walk for me at the most, but I had beads of sweat running into my eyes.......it was that bad. The weather here yesterday was a lot more comfortable. It sure is dry here though, people's yards here in Sioux Falls are turning brown, and I can't remember when we last had a good rain. I kind of feel sorry for the couple who do my yard, it's got to be awful doing yard work in 90 degree + heat.

Morning all.  The weather is great today.  Air temp is 68 and humidity is around 40% with a light breeze.  Of course, now I have to go to work instead of enjoying it...SoapBox [soapbox]...but such is life and I can deal with it.

For those that didn't read my previous post, I finally got to see one of 'The Duo' of CNW -9s in Adams yesterday.  I have not been that excited to see a CNW engine since I saw the 1385 steamer back in the late 80s.  So I'm a happy camper for a while.  I doubt if much could get me upset for the rest of the week!  Cool [8D]

Misty, my fiancee, was very patient with me yesterday.  She came home to find me not home, then I came home later than I said I 'might' be...hehe...I'm pretty lucky to have her!

Well, Omaha got down to 55 degrees last night and our high today is only going to be in the lower 80s. Now that's nice! There could even be some rain coming for late tonight and tomorrow morning. I'm not so sure about that, though.

Dan - Congrats on seeing the unpatched CNW unit.

I don't really have any other newsworthy items this morning, so I'm off. TTFN.

Poor chicken.  Read Willy's post and then give more consideration to coming to nice, quiet, cool Lincoln.  And we haven't had a derailment in probably 3 weeks now!

Pass the cold Chickenade and I will hold onto it for his arrival.....

I'll make sure the fan is ready for when Sir Chicken comes back in later along with a cold, frosty mug for his Chickenade.

Thanks Willy.  It's nice seeing something other than CN!

Mookie-the UP train that I saw the CNW unit on yesterday went over some of the scariest tracks I've seen.  I swear the cars were swaying 2-3' from centerline either direction!  When one would go left and it's neighbor right I thought it would derail.  Not good for me as I wasn't too far from the tracks.

Lunch is now on the warmer bar/cooler bar:  LC's request of Texas Hots, coneys, fries, onion rings; and Ed's request of sliced avocadoes and pecan pie and watermelon for dessert.

BTW, we didn't get the T-storms that they were predicting this morning.  Just some more light rain, and now the sun is shining, and there's a very nice breeze outside.  Our high later on this afternoon, early evening:  about 83 or 84 degrees.  I can live with that today!!

Dan - we watched our coal trains leave town on track like that.  It scared me to death.  We were ready to put out markers to see how far they would sway.

They poked around a little on it, but never really did much for it.  Then they put 4 full coal gons on the ground and after a whole lot of work and cleanup, they don't sway any more!  Approve [^]

I did notice on the ROW next to all of the tracks I was near that there were new sections of CWR and ties/plates/spikes.  I hope it gets fixed before something goes on the ground that's supposed to stay on the rail!  Never seen a derailment and don't want to witness one.  It would be neat to see just on a 'wow, that's different' level but that's it.
