Keith, I'll be down there this year on Saturday pretty much for sure, so I'd love to make a meeting out of it. I wouldn't have minded being there last year too, but things didn't work out. It's always good to put faces to names, and while I've had the pleasure of meeting Erik before, I'd love to meet a few more people from the TRAINS forums here.

Unless I incorporated it into the roadbed of my layout somewhere I still have the "Trains.com Forums" sign that Keith and Erik were holding in last year's picture. We need to set a time when we all meet at the Kalmbach booth. Last year I think it was 11 am but there is nothing magic about the time. Think you can make it by that time Noah?

You know after you look at something really bright, or have your photo taken, how you have that bright dot in your vision every time you blink? That's what I'm experiencing right now after looking at the large version of that photo above!

I'm not sure if we should either have him stay away from the Kalmbach display (because the shirt dwarfs the display's presentation) or if he should stay at the booth (everyone will be wondering where the glow is coming from and rush to see, thereby bringing them to the booth).
Perhaps we should all wear outrageous shirts there--wouldn't that be a sight !?!
I will be there. It's a tradition with some of my friends. We get together and drive up for the weekend. It is one of the best shows ever. I love it. Lots of trains, dealers, companies to visit.

I could do 11 if it's better for the rest of you, but it would probably work out a little better for me if we could make make it more like noon or so. I don't figure on getting down to Trainfest until about 11am anyway (as it's a good two hour drive from my neck of the woods), so by the time I'd get tickets into the show and everything if there is much of a line, something more like noon or even slightly later would work better. But if you guys would rather meet at 11, I would think I could swing getting down there a little earlier than planned.

OK, Keith Schmidt has set 11:30 am Saturday morning at the Kalmbach booth as our meeting time and place. I will try to bring a small sign so we all gather in the same place -- failing that look for young Mr Keating in his painfully bright shirt and fedora hat.
11:30 should work for me, although I'll know better towards the end of the week. Might not be there at 11:30 on the dot though, it all depends on how long the ticket lines are by that point....

So far as I know trainfest doesn't have a limit to tickets that they would sell out, so that shouldn't be a problem. Some Hobby Shops in WI (mainly in the Milwaukee area) do sell tickets in advance though so you can avoid having to stand in line to buy them if you wanted too.
We'll try to set a time by Thursday -- as Keith said, 11:30 is not written in stone.
We just want as many there as would like to join us. AM or PM makes no difference BUT it would be nice for Erk to join us if he can make it
If it's not written in stone and you guys don't mind, I wouldn't mind moving it to a little later (say 12 noon or after). I'm going to be down in Milwaukee till later that night at a local model railroad club's open house (North American Prototype Modelers for those of you that know it), and so the later we start the later I can wait to get there. That way I'll be on the road for less time in the day. After all, I like Milwaukee, but I can only stand so many hours in it.....
Really though, I could still make 11:30 if it's what the rest of the group wants. Of course, it does depend what Erik can make too, if he can make it. You out there Bergie?

It is open to the public, I believe starting at 7:00 pm Saturday night only. No cost so far as I know. The club has a website at www.napmltd.org with more information about the club and layout, although nothing about the open house. I'm told they will also have a booth at trainfest, so you can stop by there to find out more information specifically about the open house. Just look for NAPM or "North American Prototype Modelers" in the list of displayers and you should find their booth.
Sorry I don't know much about it, but I'm simply going because another member of my model railroad club is also a member there, and he suggested we should come check it out. Apparently it's a pretty impressive layout from what I've been told (and not just by people who belong to the club) and what I've seen on their website.
