I can hardly wait to see a photo of a BNSF "New Image" Unit with a UP "Heritage" Unit.
They have the matching silver underframes.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"
Even though orange is the national colour of my country, the Netherlands, it is too much on a locomotive this size for my taste.
greetings,

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
That's not happening...... or will happen in the next 50 years. Its going to take a VERY long time for every BNSF to get painted.

This is what I consider one of the best uses for the "new" BNSF paint scheme...it looks really good on an SD9 and I think the "swoosh" will look just as good or perhaps even better.

Reletter it to read Great Northern, and you might be on to something there.
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
Looks good to me! I've seen the new paint scheme on a rebuilt GP38-2 as well, so this unit will probably be through my area soon. I can't wait!
I HOPE they don't re-paint the "Great Pumpkin" SD60M, though.
Here's a combination for you:
Zito yellow and BNSF orange!
Dan
Yuck!! Somehow the current BNSF paint scheme doesn't appeal to me. Every other BNSF paint scheme that I have seen over the years is a lot better than this. Why can't BNSF leave well enough alone??

Lord Atmo wrote:no paint scheme can make something already beyond ugly look good. granted BNSF's new scheme is pretty neat, SD60Mu's are not. EMD killed one of their best looking locomotives to introduce that cab... should have waited till the SD70 series....lord....
Well, not all, considering they made SD60's and SD70's standard cab also.

SD70Ms, though, i dont mind them. i prefer the ones with the flare thoughBNSF's new scheme is not bad though. i must say i like it. looks better on widenose units though. so i have to ask... how many C44-9Ws got the scheme now?
I will have to desagree with you about the SD60M 3-window. Mind you that the 2-windows are very nice but the 3-window cab just spells TOUGH. But Painting on orange and black makes it look pathetic. I too don't have any love for the new BNSF colors. Heritage 2 was the only good paint scheme that BNSF had. I say bring back the blue bonnets or BN Green and white. It must be the orange when it fades--it looks like crap.

Lord Atmo wrote:the 2 window SD60M isnt much nicer either. they all suck unless they're standard cab hood units. mind you i only think this for SD60s because it's one of my all time favorite locomotives.it spells tough? i dont see it there. to me, it spells "sadly mutated locomotive"
Its a good thing that there is the saying: "To Each It's Own" because everyone has their favorites, like I really like the look of MRL and appose to something like CNW. Maybe I'm not a Packers' fan. So if there wasn't oppostion in all things in the world then there wouldn't be a good or bad or right or wrong. There would just be Santa Fe

There would just be Santa Fe LMFAO!!!!! so ATSF is the source of all neutrality? nice, man. yes i use that statement many a time. i just really really dont like SD60Mu's. nor do i like CNW for packer reasons. i hate football. i just like the green on the cab contrasting with the yellow everywhere else. it just works so well!
I would say that ATS&F is the source of all neutrality, but more of superiority. I think that Santa Fe could have done just fine without BN but then they wouldn't have the Northeast. Pumpkins just don't do it for me.
"Green on the cab contrasting with the yellow." What is that like your Ying and Yang?
I'm out of here, you guys have a great weekend. Hope you all see lot of trains.
I hate to do this, buuut,
YOU are complaining, by complaining that people are complaining.
I personally like the 3 window SD60M's in BN paint.
The new logo looks good, but, not on an SD60M.
The 3 window SD60Ms remind of those god awful 3 and 4 window Canadian cabs. UGH!
Needless to say, that SD60M looks a lot better than anything else I've seen wearing the BNSF Nike logo scheme.
