OK, here's a weird one for the powers that be... go take a look at the page that allows you to choose between this forum and the Trackside Guides forum.  For me it currently lists the latest post for the Trackside Guide as being submitted by Nanaimo73 on the Milwaukee Road Mainline thread sometime back in 2005.Oops [oops]Confused [%-)]

Hey Brian,

I've been repairing broken links on that thread. I have a lot of links to check on that forum so I'll miss out on all of those threads for everybody.Wink [;)]

Masked links from the old forum don't work unless they include the http:// and unmasked links need to be activated to work. Disapprove [V]

Oh, I get it- the forum software records the fact that that thread was the last one accessed/changed, but since it wasn't a new post, does not change the date of the last post...Confused [%-)]Banged Head [banghead]

I still can't figure out how to isolate phrases or sentences from  member quotes and reply to them.  What am I doing wrong?

From doghouse "I still can't figure out how to isolate phrases or sentences from  member quotes and reply to them.  What am I doing wrong?"

just post "[ /quote]insert message[quote]" but not in blue, and double the [/q]s when breaking into a double quote..

The forums appear to be a standard version I have seen from the UK to the US.

My only gripe is that I can rearrange the sequence of posts in a thread, but not the sequence the forums are presented to me.  I post mainly in TRAINS Magazine forums, as, I believe, most people do.  Why not stick them on the top of the forums listing?

It would be nice to post pictures on the forums, too.  I know, it wasn't done on the old forums either.  Still, I've noticed some folks able to do it now... and they appear to have PhD's in IT.

Thanks, Bergie, for all the hard work.  I owe you some aspirins.  Keep on going!

Pictures work the same as they did in the old forum:  The image has to be hosted on a website somewhere, then use the tags [ i m g ] and [ / i m g ] (minus the extra spacing).

This code:

Gives you this image:

Well couple things I would like to see the smileys as smilies and not text. Also I was wandering why in my signature my link doesn't show as a link but only text?Other than that I like it .

Lynn, the smileys posted in the new forum work, and those from the old forum should be the ones you see in text.Smile [:)]

For your links to work, go to your Update Profile and put your curser against the back of each link and hit the spacebar. Make sure they turn blue.

nanaimo73 and Bergie, you might want to take a look at the Iowa's Counties thread in the Trackside Guides- I've tried a couple of times now to scroll down to my county (Linn), but can't get past Blackhawk, the text starts repeating itself at that point.  Very weird.

I just had a glance at it Brian and it worked fine. I won't be able to check the links for a few days.

...Cedar Rapids and Iowa City
...Iowa Northern Railway (former Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific)

...Illinois Central Gulf (former Illinois Central)
.......These lines became Chicago, Central and Pacific in December 1985.

If anyone wants to post links that are always underlined, like we could do in the old forum, copy the above links and change them to suit. These would also keep you on the forum when you go through them, while new links take you off the forum.Disapprove [V]
