Yeah, did you read the story in the recent TRAINS magazine? Very interesting. The thing that got me most was the part about Snow wanting NS and UP to merge so that NS would be tied up in a merger so CSX would not have to worry about NS disrupting their merger plans with CR. [}:)]

I've got an old slide somewhere that shows the same thing on a Reading loco. They painted black over the lettering on the Reading diamond, then stencilled a "CR" over it.

IIRC, it was shot in Pottstown, PA.

I was internet surfing a little while ago and found a ex-Lehigh Valley unit with a CR as well.

IF CSX & NS merged together then merged again into the CONRAIL SYSTEM. That would be very very interesting to see. Conrail would have alot engines and would have GEVO's & evolutions engines. Oh yea by the way i am not talking about CSX & NS taking over conrail, but i am talking about CSX & NS actaully merging into the conrail system.

CR GP40-2 3345 is now CSX 4428. It is currently "active," and is in CR Quality paint with yellow CSX numbers.

GEVO's are Evolution series units. The whole GEVO series are ES44DCs, ES44ACs, and ES40DCs for NS.

I'm a huge Conrail fan. The SD80MACs were some of the coolest units ever built. Saw an ex Conrail yesterday on CSX here, an NS patched SD60M. The CSX line here is pretty cool because we get the SD70ACe's and ES44DCs, along with patched Conrail's. There's also a small NS yard and they frequently have Ex Conrail Geeps and the like.
