Because Ed is too smart to run for president!

I put Ed for president on the bottom of many of my posts. I wish someone with his common sense would run and be elected. We really need some common sense leadership. Funny how once you are elected you lose it (if you ever had it to start with).

The courts are not helping things one bit either.

If I want to hang a copy of the !0 Commandments in my office that is MY business. Surely the founding fathers of this country are turning over in their graves. This country was founded on Godly principles and now the courts are doing everything they can to negate those principles.

More on this subject later. I am sure other readers can site some examples of this trend. I have in my tool box at work an article along this line that I will try to bring home tonight and post some of it.

Until then, Have a Great Day [:)]

The person and the lawyer(s) who brought this case up should receive the Darwin Award. Only problem is that to receive it the "stunt" you pulled must have killed you. This does remove a few of the "stupid" genes from the gene pool. Unfortunatly "theirs" didn't make it (I really didn't say that--the devil made me do it). [}:)] [;)]

I hope that this suit is a failure. It's not about slavery, it's about greed.

It's also about the weakness of spirit of a nation too weak to face reality in it's attempt to heal it's past
There are those among the target white community who would much prefer to hand over a wad of cash, and not have to "own" the unfortunate past.

The rub being, it's not necessarily THEIR money they are willing to hand over for that comfort.

The fact that a herd of lawyers are allowed to pillage the tobacco companies with the active help of the bureaucrats for purposes of splitting the lucre WITH those same bureaucrats, shows how totally corrupt the legal system of this nation is. This "restitution" scam has been building up support for a number of years. People in high places are afraid to pull the plug on it, because some one might suggest they are "racist". Thus, the restitution movement is slowly gaining advocates, and even respectability amongst some weasles. It's REALLY stupid. In today's USofA, that means it's REALLY possible.

Well, yanno, *that* is a big part of it, there are racks upon racks of white people who are deathly affraid of the "R"" word, threaten to use it, and they run for cover, conceeding whatever point was under contemplation at the time. Don't get me wrong, there is a great deal of injustice that was wrong, and which needs to be undone. And I try to reach across that abyss, whenever it is practical to do so.

But at the same time, I see many of the knee jerk solutions designed to resolve our problems as equaly racist, and the mere mention of same draws the ire of the protagionists to call me "'racist" as the result.

I've taken the view that to be called "'racist", by a racist, is nothing to be ashamed of. I simply encourage them to produce evidence that any of my PRACTICES has ever done anything more than help someone.

They can't do it, and it drives them nuts

Some of my closest friends are of races other than caucasian! Damn good people. What makes me wanna puke are the people of ethnic descent that cry that there are more of their race in prison than caucasians. Well DUH! Don't be pissed at the judicial system for convicting them, be pissed at your own race of people that misrepresent your descent! They give the good people of all races a black eye when they (minorities, white trash, whatever) act like hoods. Annother thing that fries my *** is that on T.V. sitcoms caucasians can have slangs and slurrs used to describe them, but, you say a slurr about an ethnic group and all hell breaks loose. A slurr is a slurr. No matter who it is about. I am an American and so are everybody else that resides in this country permanantly! Period! I'm not, "white bread," "cracker," "whitie," etc. So if you do not want me to use the N word, S word, or any other slurr, don't refer to me as anything else other than my name or nickname. Geez, every race got screwed to a point when they came to this country. Italians, Irish, Blacks, Mexicans, you name it. If it happens now, stop it. Otherwise get over it, bunch of friggin' crybabys wanting something for nothing........

The other problem with this lawsuit is that instead of "healing " the problems of racism, it will creat more. None of us where around when this happened and none of us are responsable. The desendents of the the slaves owe the good fortune of living in this country instead of the war torn continent of Africa where every day you read about civil war, starvation, disease, and genocide. And if we are looking for restitution for slavory how come no one talks about the Africans that lived on the coast line that captured and sold the staves to the white men who sold them in this country. I think that it is time to stop useing the past as an excuse for what we haven't acheived and look forward to what we can do.

Well said.
Back in high school, I pointed out that I though it funny that a few guys with guns could somehow "capture" 100s of African men, most of whom were well armed with spears, bows, blow guns ect, and somehow force these people to put on shackles and get in the hold of a boat.
My history teacher who was black, sent me to the principals office, for disrupting class.
Did some research, found out about the other tribes hunting, capturing, then selling their slaves to the slave traders, for sale here.
Took proof of this to class, after a three day suspension.
Got a week for that.
Just like the history books that portrays Santa Anna as some evil dirty mexican, who was trying to destroy the good guys at the Alamo. Well, actually, all he was doing was trying to take back what was legally his, and the legal property of Mexico and Spain.
We, the Texans, were revolting against our legal ruler, only the fact that we won allowed us to become a independent Republic/Nation, and write history as we saw fit.
Now, that dosnt detract from the bravery shown at the Alamo, on both sides.
Got another week for that one.
You cant take back the lives spent in slavery, any more that you can really re write history, some where some one will find the truth.
And paying for the sins of people dead several generations wont make it go away, or make the issue of slavery any more right or wrong.
Find me one living slave, and that person may have a legal issue, but paying the descendents for a crime that wasnt a crime when it happened, over 160 years ago?
The legal ramifications are enormous.
Are black people owed something?
Only what all Americans are owed, the chance to succeed, if they so desire.
Should we grade them on a lower scale, cut them slack, expect less from them because their skin is darker than mine, or because they may be descendents of slaves?
Well, I am the descendent of a Greman Jew, who fled his country before WW I, and spent 6 years in a POW camp in Texas.
Who is going to pay me for that?
He committed no crime, except being german.
Was I ever cut any slack, graded any differently, less expected from me?
Not a ice cubes chance in he**.
To do so would have robbed me of any incentive to do my best.
Why should I, if I know all I have to do is earn a c, and the grade curve will change it to a B+, why put forth the extra effort?

Thinking like that has caused a large segement of Americans to do the least needed, to perform at levels far below what they could.
And every time you expect less than the topmost effort from someone who is black, you do nothing but reinforce the fact that less is expected from that person,
so if less is received, it will be accepted.

I was allways taught that, given the chance, and given the expectation of top flight performance, most people, regardless of their color, will live up to that expectation.
Expect less, and regardless of their color, you get less.
Expect more than just good, and the results will often surprise you!
Ed

Here's a big fat joke in two words: AL SHARPTON

(Hint to those who don't remember the name....remember the Twana Brawley mess of about fifteen years ago...he tried and failed to pull off a scam on the public by claiming Ms. Brawley was sexually assaulted by white cops and that the City of New York was covering it all up....well, long story short, Sharpton and his buddies later were found to have fabricated the whole damn thing...and NOW HE IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT...GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!!!

Just when I am exasperated reading the paper and listening to news, about the failure of this United States to make any sense any more and fear that common sense is doomed, I read the forum.

I feel much better. Now I wi***he politicians would read the forum and learn from it!
Probably like asking for a raise; ain't gonna happen!
