I second SSW about the McD's at Argentine Yard in KC
I have not been there for a few years -- but the kids birthday party clubhouse was a real caboose!

I haven't been to Cajon since 1997, but I don't recall a Mc Donalds there although there was a conventional restaurant in which I've had a coffee on a couple of occasions in years past. Any idea how long the golden arches have been there?

Best restaurant I've been to wasn't a McD's - it was the Capitol centre in Cardiff before the refit. At that time, they had tables in the cafe overlooking the station across the road, so you got a near-constant stream of passenger traffic to watch! Sad to say, they moved everything around and lost that view.

I've only ever been in one McDonalds in my life, that was enough!!!
It was on Wabash Avenue in Chicago, I've never been to one here in England and don't plan to.

I've never been to the Macs at Cajon Jct. I have been to Macs just outside of Argentine Yard on BNSF, and the one overlooking Enola Yard in Harrisburg and we have a Macs here in Kentucky just across the street from the Wye leading into the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant. I hereby nominate these three Mac locations for your consideration.

The difference between a Western Fast Food is a greeting and effort to help you, the eastern places.. well no one has time or payroll budgeted for cleanup. =)

I enjoyed Cajon but I gotta say Techchapi (Spelling?) and Raton are pretty exciting as well.

Ever notice how even the fast food is better once you get out of the city? I don't know how you can screw up reheating a precooked item, but most of the places in the city seem to manage somehow. I got an egg mcmuffin the other day that looked like it had been run over.

Ben there, done that. Want to do it again.
"By many measures, the U.S. freight rail system is the safest, most efficient and cost effective in the world." - Federal Railroad Administration, October, 2009. I'm just your average, everyday, uncivilized howling "anti-government" critic of mass government expenditures for "High Speed Rail" in the US. And I'm gosh darn proud of that.

I'll bet a good number of you have been to the Mc D's restaurant that is at the I-15 / Hwy 138 exit on Cajon Pass. I'd noticed it there, but had never stopped until yesterday. Sitting in the dining area, you have a huge, panoramic view of the shared trackage, just above Sullivan's curve and the UP line above that. While ordering, waiting and eating, I saw 3 trains go by. Nice place for lunch.
