Sitting in the dining area, you have a huge, panoramic view of the shared trackage, just above Sullivan's curve and the UP line above that. While ordering, waiting and eating, I saw 3 trains go by. Nice place for lunch. - - Stack

If you you are in the Cajon Pass area in socal, I suggest you check out the various In-n-Out Burger locations. IIRC, there is one in Berdoo at I-15 exit to the depot, one in Hesperia and one in Barstow. If you want McGarbage, go to the arches. If you want a serious buger cooked the way you want, go to In-n-Out. No question about it. Regards, Burlington John (missing In-n-Out here in Missouri)

QUOTE: Originally posted by dblstack Skyline Chili??? Hmmm, I've eaten at a Skyline in West Chester, OH with sort of a view of the tracks. The best thing one could say about their chili is that you're not a all likely to forget that you ate it for some time to come. Also, I wasn't sure if I would survive coming home and telling my wife I had a "three way" at the Skyline for lunch. Only a skyline fan would get that one.

You can watch CSX crossing the old C&O bridge over the Ohio River leading into Queensgate. You will never eat a hoagie like they serve there. Don't like hoagie's? There's a Skyline Chili right next door. Just pick out a window seat and watch the trains from there. Brian (KY)
QUOTE: Originally posted by CShaveRR I'll vouch for the McDona'd's in DeKalb. It's a mandatory drink stop stop on the bike trips to or from Rochelle. (Sidestepped the food-quality issue rather nicely, didn't I?) Timetable speed on UP track through DeKalb is 70. Most trains will be slower than that due to equipment restrictions and *ahem* traffic density. One of the tracks through town (north track, IIRC) is to be relaid with concrete ties this year.
QUOTE: Originally posted by M636C I haven't been to Cajon since 1997, but I don't recall a Mc Donalds there although there was a conventional restaurant in which I've had a coffee on a couple of occasions in years past. Any idea how long the golden arches have been there? M636C
