I hope you're dad recovers. My grandad was a railwayman and he lived to be 94. So hopefully there's still some extra mileage in your dad.

A few years ago my Dad was in hospital (and recovered - he's still with us, aged 82) and in the next bed was a very cheerful Irishman. Despite being told he only had a 50/50 chance the Irishman remained cheerful all the time. Perhaps this helped as on this occassion the luck of the Irish was with him and he recovered too.

I can't personally vouch for the other Iowa residents who post here, but I'd be willing to bet they would agree that all of the Iowa members are adding a prayer for your dad.

hey,
you and your family are in my prayers. I know what it feels like. I just found yesterday that my dad will have a 7th surgery, for his intestines. He is making the call. This has all been over 3 years

A couple yrs ago, when I was on vac, my dad was complaining about chest pains that would not go away. This was in the morning after telling my mom he had been feelng this way all night long. She drives him to hospital, they then say he his having a heart attack and transfer him to Wichita. I get a call about this and go down there. To make a long story short he did not have a heart attack but was a severe case of pneumonia--at the time the doctors were treating it as a heart attack. He was in ICU for a day and stayed for a total of three days in the hospital. Everything turned out okay and he is doing fine still. What a scary moment when we didn't know for sure what was going on and I feared the worse. That was a vac I'll never forget.
