it is just fun to complain about it. i understand that it is just a paintscheme and im not going to stop being a railfan over it.i just think they shouldnt change it so soon i like what they had.so im done complaining about and its time for me to accept it.and i look foward to seeing one now.

that lettering...looks horrible! Why not leave it alone? It looked "railroady" . This just seems like somebody got carried away in photoshop one day. Two thumbs down!

Tsk tsk tsk......and so many people don't like NS because they use black and white; just goes to show you, what good are other colors if the scheme is wacky. [:o)]

The bottom line though is paint is just cosmetic and I would hope that other things besides paint play a significant role in most loving trains/railroads.

Who knows,Anything will do just that to get the Railfans to just stop the Complaining. The BNSF Railway has every right to change their logo. The BNSF Railway is the most Powerful RR their is today,And they know just how to run it.

I do not Understand, IBM keep his logo, Coca Cola, keep his logo, Sony kieep it, ...why this people think that will improve the PR or Marketing.
If fortune 500 keep the logos to maintain his image...I think this move is no sense.

Well....if I were to pursue the conspiracy line of thought that has been sort of hinted at in prior posts it would only seem reasonable to assume BNSF is really a clever way of announcing they are Building Norfolk Southern's Future. With this in mind it then becomes obvious the orange paint base has been engineered so that in time, the orange will bleach away under that strong western sun and turn to a bright white. The resultant black and white will then perfectly match the paint scheme of the well known eastern road...and save everyone a bundle with respect to future repaints! ...as somebody once said ...give me a premise to stand on and I'll deduce a world....fantasy tho it may be.[:)]

I guess I'll have to join the minority on this thread and say that it looks ok to me. There are other schemes I've like better and many I've liked less.

Ah CSXE - I love your crusty point of view. But have a question - if paint is paint then why is BNSF changing their paint jobs? Sure, we are complaining cuz it's pretty ugly, but they seem to feel the need to change from what they have to this. Why not go back to just the Henry Ford any color - black. But then, maybe you and I are in agreement on this one - maybe all black would be good.

I'll bet you they paid some slick ad agency $150,000 or more to design that ugyly logo, but I guess that's what is meant by "If you are a real artist, you paint pictures...If you're a wanna be artist, you design logos"...by the way I think it is ugly also, but I can hardly wait until the weather warms up so I can get back trackside and see one for real.

O.K. folks, for a limited period of time you do all have an opportunity to register your RESPECTFUL opinions with BNSF management about the new image and logo, and hopefully change their minds. There is an E-Mail link within the BNSF website sitemap. Also, every BNSF exec is reachable with an E-mail address that has their first name, followed with a dot, followed by their last name@BNSF.com (Example: Matthew.Rose@BNSF.com).

Just remember to:

1. Keep everything in a respectful and reasonable tone, and with proper spelling and grammar.
2. Preface your comments with the fact that you are a long-time supporter and admirer of BNSF's outstanding management and extraordinarily well-run railway, and that you've had many friends and relatives who've worked for BNSF and their predecessor railways over the years.
3. State in a reasonable and respectful manner just why you dislike the new image and logo, and why you feel that it is not as representative of BNSF's true image and customer service reputation as is your preferred previous image(s) and logo(s). Try to include any and all well-known business references that you can, such as Forbes magazine's well-known survey from about 15 years ago that found the old Warbonnet image and cross-and-circle logo to be the fifth most widely recognized and respected image and logo in American corporate history.

Good luck, folks. Just remember to keep a respectful and reasonable tone about any and all communications with BNSF management.

I honestly don't care how they paint their locomotives as long as they deliver the goods (including Amtrak), but, quite frankly, it reminds me of the logo on a toothpaste tube.

Go to www.acdelco.com and you will basically see the same logo. Just change the swoosh color and replace BNSF for ACDELCO. No wonder this logo has short-comings on a GE.

the heritage 1 scheme was ok the one with the bnsf in the warboonet band on the front was great. dont they know if it isnt broke dont fix it???

I mean this is like the State of Nebraska changing the Licence Plates every 5 Years.
Look at the Union Pacific Railroad,The UP has had the "same" paint job for over a 100 Years. The UP has kept the Paint more than any RR that I know of.
Like I told my friend last night,I told him "Why didn't the BN just keep the SD70MAC's in the Cream&Green? And he told me Hell no because when get durty as hell they tend to look like crap,I thought......Ok!" And then he said that the BN should have kept the TRUE BN Green&Black. I said to him "Ahh I don't know anymore". The way I look at it,Now I don't feel sorry at all for the UP "not" changing theirs. At least the UP was SMART!
Once you have a Paint scheme leave it as is.

[V][:(] It saddens me that more of the Santa Fe heritage is disappearing from the locomotive and rolling stock rosters. Now, the only evidence left on locomotives would be the silver fuel tanks and trucks.

I always thought the cigar band was a nice touch, and tip of the hat to the SF heritage.
