As well the train was parked at exactly jusst south of the island circuit of the next crossing where all trains wait for clearance to proceed to CP and gain the main line.. I would have thought loco people from Waycross would have been relatively 'johnny on the spot' within a day or two along with Cranemasters or some other contractor to change out the traction motor and at the very least install a idle axle (wheel set without traction motor) in place of the defective one. Not moving a locomotive that has a frozen traction motor is SOP. Letting a locomotive sit there for a week in such a condition WAS NOT the norm when I was working.

Ns was clear after work.Mother nature sent us a little shower so far.Went from 80 to 71 in the car on the way home.Helped neighbors next door turn on their new monitor.Also adjusted the angle as well.Got the crock pot out for chili for tomorrow.Going to do some inside chores.

Thursday Morning (about 08:30 AM) was looking out my window, and saw a 'move' ! Looked like 3 GE's in custody of a pair of new Siemens Chargers; headed West. (Their tops were painted black,wonder if they might be a coupe of the new 4400hp models? )
Used brick are important especially for restoration, repair , and in historic districs. Often a brick style is no longer baked due to brick refactory out of business. Also some manufacures may have exhausted one or more sources of clay. All clay is not the same in color, impurities, chemical composition, ect

CSSHEGEWISCH Used brick is not that unusual in new construction. In the area around the office building where I usually work, I observed bricks being salvaged as part of a building demolition. They would be sent to a yard where they were prepared for resale.

Ns had a stack train go east after work.Had our final meeting for the year in Deshler.Csx was asking if we were interested in the depot and where would we move it .It is too far gone for us or anyone to move and fix up.Museum pieces were put back in place but always more to be done.Need to get cleaned up.

When I got to Jacksonville just after Christmas 2019, the FEC had a Herzog empty ballast train parked on a track under the Baymeadows Road overpass. When I headed back North on March 2, the train was still parked there and had not turned a wheel in over two months.
I spent a good deal of Saturday on the radio - amateur radio - for the New York QSO Party (QSO means conversation). The intent is to contact all 62 NY counties. I got 21 counties, as well as 11 states and Quebec. Several I contacted on different "bands" so they count as extra contacts.
No record breaker, but it was fun. Heard one fellow say he'd contacted all 50 states during the contest. Conditions weren't all that good for contacts within NY during the day, but picked up in the late afternoon, which is when I got most of the NY counties.

Friend left his coat at our house yesterday.Gave me a chance to go up along the Chicago line.They were single tracking near Delta. 56 K (Ns grain train) had to hold at Wauseon due to the maintainers hitting a shunt on a crossover.It also had the N&W unit 8103 on the point.Came home and neighbors had made some spooky cookies for being on leaf patrol.Tomorrow its back to work.
Had a pretty good day today.The Sante Fe engine we were looking at had the emd builder plate taken off.We couldn't see on the other side of the loco without tresspassing so that project is on hold.Went to Deshler.Csx was still log jammed.Did get some pictures and documents in frames in the museum.Some of the pictures were gluded to poster board(ugh).Friend finally got a call for a westbound.We'll see how long it takes him to come west.
Followed a couple Ns stack trains west after work.Visited brother with proper spacing enforced.Heard a few trains.Saw a couple on the way home.Ns Mow was working on a yard lead switch in Bryan.Looked like the local was waiting to get in.Going to do chores tomorrow and do some research as well.Hope to get a closer look at the sante fe's at the ND&W.

No doubt. I put my grill about half way in the doorway allowing the smoke to an easy escape. The shed had good circulation and venting.

We do ours on an open pit - I think right now it's configured at about 40' long and about 3' wide. We did all 350 halves on one "cook." While the pits take various configurations, that's the technique most organizations in this area use.
The "racks" will hold ~24 halves. Placing another such rack on top allows two people to flip the whole thing at once. With two teams of "flippers," the entire pit can be turned in well under a minute.
I've seen a few places that have configured their racks so one person can flip them.

That went very well, as well. One of our firefighters wished me a slightly early Happy Birthday - we share the same day. Which means it's time to wish Carl a slightly early Happy Birthday as well.
