Rained off and on here all day, but we're not complaining.

Is that what you meant to write, Larry? The things we put up with for our kids, huh?

Oops - left a word out.... She's no problem.... Good Pup!
If that was a scottie, you would be tested mui-pronto to see if the human had changed any since last time.
Right now, i'd take the dog over the municipal civil engineer trying to put a force main under the Canadians in Illinois.

So much better than the sub-standard poodles, IMHO.
evening
Ns had a westbound waiting when I got off of work tonight.Matt checked out Csx in Garrett and it was plugged as usual. We are now under a moderate drought according to the guessers.Tomorrow it's a wedding reception and class reunion.
Good Morning
Matt passed a friend of ours as he was taking a train to Garrett. He will be coming back east today. We have time between events.Camera will be busy today.
Saw a few trains on Csx.Ran errands.A lady bought a new coffee maker but about left the coffee at the checkout.More errands to do.
Good evening
Ns was clear when I got off work.Chores to do here.No rain here at home yet.
Waiting on some rain here, too, but there's none on the radar, at least for us.
Working on a new console for the truck - the old one has outlived its usefulness, and I've got a new radio to add. The fun part is when I take the old one out and start fitting in all the parts and pieces...
Ns had an eastbound in the siding. The local was uptown and they sent a westbound as well.Someone had a bad day south of Archbold.Csx had a bad day in Sherwood yesterday. We did get some rain.Chores to do here at home.
Ns had a tie gang on track 1 today.Waiting to see if Matt needs to mow uptown tomorrow or not.More rain maybe tonight?? Then hot and sticky.
Ns Mow was working when I got off of work. They had a cp/up combo take a taker train east.Matt mowed and trimmed uptown today.I mowed and trimmed when I got home.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Saturday Matt and his church group will be washing cars for next years workcamp trip.
Ns was clear when I got off work.Matt got most of his back to school stuff today.Going to relax.
Hot and Muggy...
Changed out the shocks on the front of the truck today. I'm drenched. The truck handles a little better, though. I'd have done the rear shocks, but I don't have the necessary wrenches in the toolbox. They aren't hurting the handling all that much, though.
Still getting ready for the trip west. Deshler next Tuesday and Wednesday, then on to Michigan.
Over the last 21 days - 14 days with masurable rain (17+ inches over the 20 days) 6 days considered Cloudy and 1 day considered Sunny. A line of T'storms this evening.
If the rain quits sometime tonigh - I migh be able to cut the grass tomorrow afternoon
Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
We are supposed to get to the middle 90s today and tomorrow. But that's okay, they say, because it won't be as humid as the last time we got there. Our lawn is beng challenged, but it least I don't have to cut it. I've had a gimpy leg for the past two weeks.I do expect to break out the bike in a little while to run errands while it's relatively cool. The first errand will take me trackside.(I brought the bike out of storage yesterday. It's amazing to me that yesterday was the first time I rode it this year--I used to do thousands of bicycle-miles a year.)
Since I've been dog-sitting for the past week, I've been doing more walking than riding - she does love to go get the mail with me...
We're still in for hot and muggy today, too. And I've got stuff to do outside...
Car wash did good.Did see a few things on Csx.Q 368 stopped by the yard to pick up some sand hoppers.Tuesday and Wed in Deshler? Matt has to work on Tuesday. We are going to my nephews after church tomorrow then to Deshler. Our big trip will be next weekend in Marion Ohio for Summerrail.
Murphy Siding It is August in Houston, so take a guess, and the first two don't count... Guess #3- the leaves are turning?
Guess #3- the leaves are turning?
Guessers are calling for rain Mon/Tuesday.Plan accordingly.
Good Evening
Warm day here in Nw Ohio.Matt decided he still liked cracker jacks after our church service this morning.Went down to nephews shop in Celina.People were still trying to make deals at the 127 garage sales.Went through Lima on our way to Deshler. They had a few trains go by Ns tower. One of the trains was a CF&E transfer job goign back to their yard in west Lima.Made a dlivery in Deshler.A new friend was delighting his grand children in California on the webcam. While I was there I gave him a tour.Glad to be home.Work tomorrow.
Today we had rain, a dental appointment, and a dear friend from Michigan visiting us around lunchtime. Lunch was at our favorite spot in Elmhurst (that's where the dentist is, also), and there were plenty of trains, most of the intermodal variety. Overall, it wasn't too bad an outing--the lack of any good equipment sightings means I can get other work done here.My vicarious experience, courtesy of Facebook:
The thrill doesn’t go away...
I went trackside at Elmhurst right after my dentist appointment, and a stack train was coming out of the yard to head west. Engines were barely working as he went by slowly (hind end was still in the yard).
Along with three units on the point, this train had a mid-train distributed power unit (DPU). About the time that unit was getting close, he opened up...and, being a GE unit, sounded great! And, by the time the end of the train (refrigerator cars) came by, he was moving at track speed or thereabouts—50 mph.
I guess I’m old-school, remembering that you needed a conductor to climb on the waycar and transmit a highball to the engineer. But this DPU, with nobody in the cab, knew right when the whole train was out of the yard and through the crossovers. Of course, I know how they do it, but it has to be impressive to the curious uninitiated observer—and it’s just fun for me!
Rain went north of us so far.Ns sent a westbound coal train as I left work.Work is busy.Going to call California pen pal to see how much longer he will be in Ohio.He needs help to indentify some locations from a DVD that we sent him.Chores to do.
Hitting the road west in the morning. Should be in Deshler before dark (got a tent to pitch!).
