It was definitely a fun few hours, and I hope to do it again some time. I'm quite familiar with days where nothing runs for hours then everything runs at once, usually when you are leaving. It was fun seeing Arrowedges for the first time and catching that 4/18 built well car.
Afternoon
Carl have that picture as part of a package to show for donations.Matt was alot smaller back then.Ns had some cars for the local when I left work.Mother Nature decided she wants to rain on us this weekend.Chores to do inside anyway.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
I've been working on setting up an event for one of my other hobbies... Amateur Radio.
Although the big "ham" event this weekend is in Xenia, OH (it used to be in Dayton, and is still referred to as such), we're having a small "hamfest" right here. Hopefully we'll have a decent crowd, and a lot of them will decide to have breakfast, too.
That was my afternoon task today - buying groceries.
I spent way too much money on a radio last year (the radio was worth every penny, though). Hopefully no one will have a similar lure for me this year.
Tomorrow evening is a fire department banquet - I won't have to cook!
But it is supposed to be wet this weekend. Some hamfest vendors prefer to work out of their vehicles in the parking lot. If it's too bad, maybe they'll spend the extra five bucks and come inside...

Joe, if you think you are getting too much rain, I think MC could use some; I know we could use some of it.
Johnny

She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
We have all the rain and mud you could want. Come and get it.
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
The foggy, raining Preakness horse race Saturday highlighted the weather we have had for the past week - that coupled with wash outs around Brunswick cancelling MARC service and a bridge collapse in Arlington derailing a train. Just your ordinary foot of water in a week happensings.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Good morning
Farmers are getting a bit worried here in Nw Ohio. Also got word of new great nephew's arrival.Everyone is doing great.Time to get ready for work.
Well, Bob, you apparently never heard the advice I was given by one of the men on the Building and Grounds Crew of my college--"If you chew tobacco and spit, you will not be bothered by poison vine." I'm not sure that he had good information.
So far, no rain. Lots of noise, but only a bikini shower. That's a lot smaller than a brief one....

In the early 80's I lived in Gillette Wyoming. Back then a company Called Energy Transportation Systems Incorporated (ETSI) hatched a plan to build pipeline about 350 miles to the Missouri River. They would use the water for a coal slurry pipeline from the Wyoming mines to power plants in Arkansas. The main reason the project tanked was because those mean, old railroads they were trying to take the coal shipping business from would not allow the pipeline to cross their properties. I wonder if they feel the same way about garden hoses.

Well some property owners around here wish railroads would pick up their stuff when they are done.Ns had some cars in the siding when I got off of work.Fixed the handle on a toilet then mowed the swamp.Going to relax now that I am cleaned up.

But then you don't get to have three hoses!
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any

Chicago Surface Lines (and probably other operators) used to have hose bridges that allowed streetcars to cross over firehoses without slicing them.

Wow, I've now been on here for 5 years and 3000 posts. It doesn't feel like that long.

I am trying to get out to check on BNSF power, but seems like something keeps getting in my way. But weather is perfect for checking, so must make a definite effort!
Must be a holiday? Hmmm...I will go hug the driver and thank him for his service and coming home alive, albeit a little battered.
