BaltACD

The Division, at the request of my fellow Dispatchers, named the 2 miles of the South Baltimore Branch between Control Points Carroll and Clifford in my honor.  I accepted it on behalf of my Grandfathers 47 years of service and my fathers 37 years of service as well as my 51 years of service.  MCABEE Yard Limits.  So I get to antognize future generations of CSX employees!

Even on the last day I worked - something 'new' happened - Every day the aim is the same, but the playing field changes, day in, day out and hour by hour.

Save

Would there be a Carrol and or Clifford CP sign in the right of way somewhere?

Congratulations, may your retirement be a happy and healthy one!

The first few weeks you'll feel like your on vacation, but after a while you wake up asking yourself, shouldn't I be going to work?  Took me awhile to get use to my new pattern in life.

Good luck and best wishes.

Lower Prices and stop making it a pain in the butt to be a railroad customer.

Just be careful that if you go out for a drive that you don't end up in the company parking lot (been there, done that!).

I also have a set of steroscopic slides and the viewer that my father purchased as at 13 year old boy of the B&O's Fair of the Iron Horse in 1927.  Ironicly the Fair was held at the same location that I would retire from.  I had also been a part of the team that opened B&O's Baltimore Terminal Services Center in 1978 in the same building space I would retire from in 2016 with that space having been reconfigured for the Baltimore Division Dispatching Center, with the Division Offices in adjoining space.

The semaphore signals that are visible are part of the HX Tower interlocking at Halethorpe, MD.  The brick tower building still exists, the interlocking doesn't; having been moved about 1 mile West, for additional track capacity and renamed St. Denis.

Movement adds a great deal to the static images of my slides.

Wow, The logistics of the show. Had to have had a great dispatcher to manage all that operation. Its amazing when the heads of corporations want to do something, the troops can make it happen. Beancounters be dammed.

A fine send-off to a remarkable aircraft.  From the 60's to the 21st Century, just amazing.  Imagine a World War One SPAD 13 flying missions in Vietnam, that's akin to what the Phantom's achived.

You bet!  That's another amazing one, along with the C-130, introduced in the 50's and still in production.

OK. For you, I'll twist an old saw I learned at my Gold Wing chapter:

You don't stop racing because you get old. You get old because you stop racing.

The world is yours now. Go enjoy it. Have fun. Big Smile

I don't want to take anything away from anybody, but NS in Dearborn Michigan had an assistant chief train dispatcher retire after 60 years back in October, 2016.  Doug Cravens started out with the PRR in Fort Wayne in 1956 as a tower operator.  He's also got a Control Point named after him.  Doug doesn't count the two weeks he worked as a fireman on the Erie between Huntington, Indiana and Marion, Ohio before going to work for the Pennsy as he didn't enjoy it too much.

And not over yet! - there are more than a hundred still flying overseas.

Admittedly the Spad XIII would have been doing Buffalo Hunter duty in 'Nam to keep the analogy intact - but it's also fair to say that one flying as an 'active duty' aircraft in a Bicentennial display would be an accurate comparison.

WOW! 51 years is a long time. I had 38 years NP-BN-BNSF in Minneapolis and have been retired 12 years.  You must have many stories.
