Will be Formula car racing the Virginia International Raceway in a couple of weeks.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
@ BALT ACD:
CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !
Since I am new to all this stuff, I sure hope to learn a lot from reading your posts.
Firelock76 rdamon Looks like there was another retirement this week … The last active F-4 Phantom II was retired yesterday. http://www.warbirdsnews.com/warbirds-news/pharewell-phantom.html A fine send-off to a remarkable aircraft. From the 60's to the 21st Century, just amazing. Imagine a World War One SPAD 13 flying missions in Vietnam, that's akin to what the Phantom's achived.

Phantom (II)s were one of those planes that look like mean angry machines, like BF 109s.

DeggestyThe RF&P is interesting--the zero MP is in Richmond--and the NB signals are even-umbered and the SB signals are odd-numbered--just they are on RR's with the zero MP at the north or east end.
One other thing, the RF&P Milepost designations have been carried through on the former PRR and B&O track up to the point when the Alexandria Extension connects to the Capital Sub at Hyattsville, MD.
And when you get to the former P&LE portion of the Pittsburgh Sub - MP 0 is at Station Square Pittsburgh (the former P&LE Pittisburgh Station) and the Milepost increment in both directions from MP 0. PLE series milepost to the West and PLY series milepost to the East.

Following is a partial screen shot of 'my' Yard Limit as displayed on the CADS screen
The Blue 72228 inicated that there is a MofW Authority by that number that has possession of the McAbee Yard Limit in the East [way the arrow is pointing] Direction (Authorities can be issued as East - West or Both depending upon particular circumstance).
In CSX CADS screens the top Left of the screen is either West or North, depending on the direction of the territory. The RF&P and most of the territories South of Richmond are N-S railroads. Most all the territories North of the RF&P are E-W railroads.
blue streak 1BALT sure hate to see all that institutional knowledge go to retirement. Speaking of retirement any truth that you know of retirement of some dispatch offices going with the new division consolidation.

WOW! 51 years is a long time. I had 38 years NP-BN-BNSF in Minneapolis and have been retired 12 years. You must have many stories.

And not over yet! - there are more than a hundred still flying overseas.
Admittedly the Spad XIII would have been doing Buffalo Hunter duty in 'Nam to keep the analogy intact - but it's also fair to say that one flying as an 'active duty' aircraft in a Bicentennial display would be an accurate comparison.
Congratulations, Balt!
Wishing you many years of satisfaction, watching the trains from afar and enjoying the sight of others putting up with the %&%#$%*^*&*#@#.

Sending a huge congratulations to BaltACD!! Now you can go to work full time in proving what we have all read 10,436 times at the bottom of your posts on here!
I don't want to take anything away from anybody, but NS in Dearborn Michigan had an assistant chief train dispatcher retire after 60 years back in October, 2016. Doug Cravens started out with the PRR in Fort Wayne in 1956 as a tower operator. He's also got a Control Point named after him. Doug doesn't count the two weeks he worked as a fireman on the Erie between Huntington, Indiana and Marion, Ohio before going to work for the Pennsy as he didn't enjoy it too much.
All that institutional memory - wow. It isn't antagonism, it's a high mark to shoot for, for all those following.
BaltACD The Division, at the request of my fellow Dispatchers, named the 2 miles of the South Baltimore Branch between Control Points Carroll and Clifford in my honor. I accepted it on behalf of my Grandfathers 47 years of service and my fathers 37 years of service as well as my 51 years of service. MCABEE Yard Limits. So I get to antognize future generations of CSX employees! Even on the last day I worked - something 'new' happened - Every day the aim is the same, but the playing field changes, day in, day out and hour by hour. Save

OK. For you, I'll twist an old saw I learned at my Gold Wing chapter:
You don't stop racing because you get old. You get old because you stop racing.
The world is yours now. Go enjoy it. Have fun.

You bet! That's another amazing one, along with the C-130, introduced in the 50's and still in production.
