It's been my experience that cats don't like to ride in cars.

Probably because you didn't let them drive?

With the winds we have had for the past two days - I am surprised I haven't seen some of our Western contributors sailing past!

I stayed indoors most of the time, and went out only when it was calm.

It's been my experience that cats don't like to ride in cars.

You're telling me!  Had a Siamese that once managed to get up under the dashboard.  Had a heck of a time getting her out of there....

Well, first weekend of our Polar Express, and over 3000 happy riders joined us for the journey to the North Pole and return.  From our standpoint, there were a couple of new things we needed to get the kinks out of, but over all, everything went well.  Only 27 more trips to go!

We had rain Saturday night, and snow on Sunday, which presented the usual problems with traction.  Our train may be a mere 1000 tons, but on some of the grades we deal with, complicated by wet/snowy rail, let's just say it can be a challenge...

The lake effect machine has wound up east of Lake Ontario - and I had to drive right through it to get home.  Wheee!  I made out better than the tractor-trailer tanker that ended up going straight on a curve.  The tractor was well off the road, but the tail of the tanker was still blocking a lane of the road.

Got a couple of inches of snow in the driveway - guess I better dig the snowblower out of the garage.  And to think - Saturday around noon it was close to +70F.  Right now it's +23F...

Had a visit with a 7 mo old little boy this morning.  Sir Mudchicken and wife travel thru here the weekend before Thanksgiving and stop for breakfast with us on their way to family back east.  Today, they brought their darling scottie puppy Duncan with them.  Duncan is just as sweet as can be and treated us like we were the best thing since doggie biscuits were invented.  What a love!

Now I want them to bring their beautiful golden cat Stewart for a visit!  Automobile

Why can't you people in the northern plains, ohio valley, NY send us some of your rain ? Still not a drop but maybe by Wedensday.

I'm afraid I might be at least partly to blame.   Back around August we were getting drenched every day, and when the people to the north and west were having a drought, I offered them some of our rain.   Now if they could send some of it back...

Only medicine men/women I know are family doctors.  Don't think any of them can make rain.

I tried and I think I badly strained the mechanism in the wiggle feature.  Bad news is - no precip thru December.  However, I will check again in January.  Meanwhile if we get ice as usual in winter, I will send you a glassful...

So maybe you can send us a Blackfoot medicine man.

Why can't you people in the northern plains, ohio valley, NY send us some of your rain ?  Still not a drop but maybe by Wedensday.  High winds 29 - 35 knots.  Dew points 13 - 24 F north of I-20. Dew points 20 - 28 south of I-20.  Have not even had a frost but tonight a hard freeze warning all way south to Columbus, Ga.  - Macon - Augusta due to low dew points.

Had to rake away dry leaves from north side of house due to fire hazard.  Water situation has become guarded but no watering of fire hazards proactively.  Hoses and faucets drained but at standby just in case.

Murphy - seems like every fall, or is it spring? - we get a moose from Wyoming area.  Usually a male and he falls in love with one of our dairy cows.  And those puppies are big!  They usually watch him and make sure he remembers how he got in the door and how to go back out of it.

I did see my first BC Rail this morning - on point.  Didn't exactly look like a moose, but I am a city girl - what do I know.  Maybe moose come in a red/white and blue pattern?

Mookie- I sent a moose your way.  You should be able to recognize her. She's tall, skinny and somewhat disoriented.

Every half a dozen years, a moose in Canada gets some sort of a brain problem and takes off heading south. This one has been in the area about a  week. The Game Fish & Parks department tranquilized her on Thursday, then dropped her off an hour north of us and apparently told her to head on home. ( Dunce )

This morning, a coworker got a photo of a moose from someone deer hunting deer a bit south of us . It’s hard to tell if it’s the same moose because they all kind of look alike. Let me know if she stops by. Stick out tongue

We are eating in!

I have seen 70+mph winds in Lincoln - straight line, no tornado.  I have seen blizzard conditions with gusts over 50mph - No snow (today)

So far, so good.  But eating in so taco doesn't blow out of mah hands!

And we don't have wind turbines because?

Confused

Gee whiz, Lincoln is making Tehachapi look downright calm today!  At least as winds go.

Well, got the last bucket of driveway sealer down - just hope the weather holds off long enough for it to set (and it stays warm, and maybe a little breezy).

Getting a little worried about the trip home from the railroad on Sunday night.  I'll be watching the radar very closely...

Time to finish packing, get cleaned up, and head south!

Welcome to our annual Bodyshop appreciation week kick-off. 32-ish degrees, rain/snow falling/blowing, and the weather dorks screaming blizzard of the century!!!!  Oh yeah, highs next week predicted in the mid 40's.

South of you we had freezing rain overnite.  Now the wind is blowing and the gusts are taking ice chunks off the branches and launching them against the building walls and windows.  It's a guaranteed attention getter!

We had balmy weather today (I think we made 72).  It would have been a great day for sitting out there train-watching, but we had guests from Michigan to pick up, so we did a little train-riding instead.  Tomorrow we deliver them back to the city for their Amtrak trip to Holland.

However, tomorrow also brings rain, then falling temperatures in the afternoon.  Saturday might bring a flake or two, but it shouldn't be a problem here (famous last words!).

I had to spend the warmest part of the day indoors, in physical therapy.  I got plenty warm at that, too...

82 degrees  also here south west of Atlanta. Unbelievable though 38 last night due to almost no humidity.  Still only 10% chance of slight rain Saturday.
