NorthWestEDIT: Congrats Cubs!
Well, at least now we don't have to listen to them whine about not having won a World Series in forever....

I did not wait for the fat lady to do her thing because I knew it was over because it was over. It was worth going to bed an hour and a half late.

I wonder how many of the millions of viewers who saw Cleveland Terminal Tower on their TV screens had any idea how beautiful that former tallest building in the U.S. west of the Hudson River looked in the middle of the night from the window of a New York Central train.
That is so pretty. Kinda makes you feel a little better about our planet....

CShaveRRIt's all there, and it gave me a good 17 moves in the two-hours-plus that I was there (five per hour, roughly). I was kept plenty busy, just sitting in the car, with trains in front of me, trains behind me, and trucks giving me the willies as they took the road at at least twice the speed that I dared to!
Your line reminds me of the old joke: Lone Ranger says, "Look Tonto, Indians to the East, Indians to the West, Indians to the North and the South, what will we do"? And Tonto replies, "What you mean WE white man"? My thouht is in your case, With trains all around what will I do? Enjoy of course.
evening
Ns local was nearby when I left work.Had parent-teacher meetings and errands uptown today.Need to send more papers back for Matt tomorrow. At least it's Friday.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
The Terminal Tower was (is?) very impressive on the inside, too. I was up to Chessie System offices once, when they were there, visiting with the late Lloyd Lewis. Very Art Deco--my wife loved it. It's a shame to see the taller buildngs in town these days.
Visited the surgeon today, to see what the plans were, going forward. The bad news is that the cancer is still there. They started hormone treatment today, with a shot just below the "equator", as one of my friends put it. However, in spite of my missing last week's session, my Physical Therapist says I'm doing very well, and she's of the opinion that I'm over halfway done. Those shots, by the way, are supposed to come once every six months. However, they could be supplanted by radiation as soon as other issues are taken care of.

Carl, I am sorry to learn that you still have cancer. It would be wonderful if you did not have to have radiation treatment--I speak from the experience of having had it.
afternoon
Ns was uptown when I left work.Going to run some errands.Tomorrow it's over the river and down I-75 to give birthday wishes to my dad.Might stop at a couple spots on the CSX Toledo sub.Don't forget to fall back this weekend and check your smoke detectors.
Morning
Matt is getting ready to serve breakfast at church. The toledo sub on CSX was jammed up south of Lima on the way down and jammed up north of Lima on the way back.Going to work in the yard a bit after church.

Beautiful sunrise on the way to work this morning. 'Seemed about an hour earlier than usual.
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Wasn't awake for sunrise, but did get up so I could serve as net control for a daily ham radio net. About halfway through the net, my fire pager went off, and I had to leave the net participants to fend for themselves. I'm sure they did fine.
The call was for a young lady who hit a deer. Probably totalled the car. A friend of hers got the deer. It is that season...
The really curious part is that we get maybe 3 calls a week, and the net usually lasts about a half hour, and I'm only net control on Mondays, so the odds of a fire call hitting during the net really aren't all that high...
Ns had an eastbound stack train go slowly by as tonka toys and the local were both in town as I left work.Picked up Matt.He needs new lenses(growing boy). I do not need bifocals yet.Chores to do.
We were sitting in the park today - watching the waterfowl. My mind wandered a little and I was thinking how animals/birds have evolved and adapted according to the conditions of change in the climate or the world.
Ergo - something to think about. I wonder how long it will be before humans start growing a 2nd face on the top of their heads?
Everyone is always texting, even across a table from a warm body, but at least you would look like you aren't ignoring everyone!
think about it...

Heck, you see groups of kids walking through the mall, texting each other instead of talking...

Ns local was uptown waiting for a crew when I left work.Tomorrow after work we finish up former neighbor's yardwork for the year.Guessers are calling for low's in the 20's this weekend.Chores to do.
Ns was clear when I left work.Went into Defiance.Csx ran trains with this, that and a power move too.Matt is finishing up homework.Time for other chores.Glad tomorrow is Friday.
Not a lot of traffic today trackside - but good cup of coffee and later lunch, plus a nice day to be outside in November. Saw just enough trains to keep us awake. Lots of m-t car haulers headed to KC. FerroMex, CN, Conrail and one old SP among them. Eye candy!
No trains - although I did hear the DS talking to one train, and about another.
Fire siren at the firehouse seems to have died. Had a contractor take it off the roof and then I took it to the local outfit that deals with them. Might have it back in a couple of weeks. Until then, the neighbors might wonder why it's a little quieter than normal...

But what do you do for a siren? That seems kind of important to the area...
