Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Happy anniversary early, Joe/Stacey. Will you be going over Niagra Falls; parachuting out of an airplane; dinner @ McDonalds? Any of those exciting things?
How many years are we celebrating? Will Matt do the chauffeuring? (Lend him your DL...)
What fun! Have a good time!

thank you.Only 22 years.Went to Niagra Falls on our honeymoon.Matt is staying at the G+G motel. He is not quite old enough to drive but the training will begin soon.Mamma just wants to go out and eat.Mother nature is going to drop the temprature on us overnight.Ns was clear when I left work.Need to go get ready.

beautiful fall day here in Nw Ohio.Saw my breath this morning. We went and walked around our local resivouir. We stopped afterwards and watched some csx trains go by.Motorist just missed becoming a hood ornament for csx q 389 at FC in Defiance. When we came home we helped neighbors. One was to load stuff up as they are selling their mom's house, the other needed to borrow our mini air compressor because he had a flat tire.We took care of other little projects too.Going to watch football, baseball or eyelids.
Pretty good turnout for our chicken barbeque. There's a lot of competition this time of year.
On the road tomorrow to deliver a radio and pick up some cables for my new laptop.

Seven years, ?, of having needles stuck in my knees every 6 or 7 months and you would think I would get used to it. The needles look like they are 6" long!! Trade off would be knee replacements, so a little stiffness for three weeks and I'll be good to go for another 6 or 7 months.
Edit: I did see some action on CSX in Grand Rapids, Mi while there.
evening
work is now busy.Ns had some empties uptown.Came home and took care of the yardwork.Matthew wondered why the slight slope in the driveway.Where do we want the rain water to go I said.Time to watch some baseball.
Yeah - my driveway slopes the wrong way... I think the road has been raised at least a foot since the house was built. I think I've got most of the drainage under control, though, and the recent work done on the road across the road will help as well...
Nice day today - very "fall." Colors are starting to come around here. Pretty sure they've peaked in the Adirondacks.
Might rain later in the week - but we're hoping for a dry day on Friday so we can visit outside with the kids for Fire Prevention Week.
And this is Fire Prevention Week. If you haven't replaced your smoke detectors with the new ten-year battery variety, think about doing so.
It's a little early for the real color show around here, though some trees are pretty well involved. It's Pat's birthday today, so we took a walk in the Arboretum, and everything was still pretty green.
Also today, I had my PICC line removed. No foreign matter in my body any more, for the first time in over a month. The infectious-disease doctor said she hardly recognized me, I was looking so healthy (Pat was along; she recognized her right off--that probably helped). I have weekly physical-therapy sessions, and daily exercises to help in my recovery, and walking for exercise also is good.

Tree: check off Mookie and the Driver - we changed all of ours - including 3 smoke detectors and 2 CO detectors. Was a big bag of batteries!
Rainy and cold today.
Now - about my cold nose...
Had the day off yesterday so I got out to Elmhurst to exercise the camera. Did pretty nicely, getting a number of Metra trains, a few intermodals, a perishable freight and the Pleasant Prairie coal train. Very pleasant weather for this time of year.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.

Now - about my cold nose... What's that phrase? "Cold nose, warm heart"? Or maybe it's "Wet nose, cold dog"? I forget.

And, I have understood that if a dog's nose is wet and cold, it's in good health; Mookie, is your nose wet as well as cold?
Johnny
Johnny,
If your dog's nose is cold, it may be that you left the refrigerator door open.

Ns local was uptown working when I left.Just took a shower so my nose is clean.Going to check on Matt's homework.
Made a trip down to the world headquarters of the Adirondack Scenic today to deliver a couple of things and have what I thought would be a one hour meeting.
It ran over three hours... Not a bad thing, though - lots of good discussion.
Whilst visiting with our mechanical folks in the yard we heard an eastbound blowing for the station, as they usually do. Huge train. One loco and one three well car with all of three containers.
Must have been three very hot containers...
And that was my excitement for the day.

Chores to do.Ns was clear when I left work.Work is progressing on Clinton street.Csx backed out of helping to pay for lowering the pavement under the viaduct. So it will remain the can opener. There will be a steep price to pay if a trucker makes one of CSXs trains late.
Cooler here in Nw Ohio.Guessers say frost for tomorrow morning.Saw the COG ns unit lead a coal train westward. Not long after that an eastbound empty came by as I left work.Chores and errands to do.
We had a cold night last night, but it's warming right up today, and tomorrow is supposed to get into the 70s again. I'd love to go train-watching this afternoon, but I guess it will be train-listening instead--the lawn needs tending to, desperately (it hasn't been done since I got home from the hospital nearly a month ago, and I'm now cleared for doing it myself).
Frosty morning here, but it was nice enough by the time the kids came out for the outside portion of our Fire Prevention presentations. Back this afternoon for the kids' visit to the fire station...
Ns was clear when I left work.Had to go give hugs for a friend.Saw the Goodyear blimp fly over town.Csx ran a couple stack trains. The ND&W shoved some cars into the CSX siding at Fc too.Chores to do tomorrow. Then to G+G house.Hope everyone treats their sweetie good.
Question for those in the know. CSX is having a series of unit pipe trains northbound from south of LaGrange Ga to somewhere north of Atlanta. The pipe is approximately 80+ft long and stacked 3 across - 4 high. That would be ~ diameter of 36 inches.
These trains run in groups suggesting they are being unloaded off a ship. If so would suspect either Mobile or Pannama city, Fl port ? Each train about 3/4 mile long so about 9 miles of pipe each unit train ?
Anyone know origin and destination(s) as pipe is laid ?
Hi
Sorry Blue Streak can't help you with the train symbols.Csx was running good at FC this morning.Heard q 324 get out of town before Defiance woke up. CSX also ran a q 369 with a beat up KCS de mexico unit as the sole power.Mother nature is sending rain.Mamma has lunch ready.Still need to recover after we escaped Camp Randall with a win.
A happy almost belated birthday to someone who shares a birthday with me - Carl!
Not a bad day on the railroad - although the sun we had on Saturday would have made for nicer viewing of the fall foilage. The rain that almost always brings an end to the colors arrived as I was driving home (thank goodness it wasn't earlier).
And back at you, Larry! I hope you have a better year than I did at this age level! (Of course, it could have been much, much worse!)I've been busy with church and volunteer obligations (and a subsequent nap!) all day until now. Tomorrow I expect to get out and see the trains I'd like to. Lombard's Fall Fest (Spooktacular) was this afternoon...we thought for a while that it might be a washout, but we got no rain here since this morning. I was at the information desk with Pat and a couple of other folks, and I was able to bolt when a train came through, if I thought I needed it. Most of the freights were intermodals, and there were ethanol tanks in both directions, too.
work busy.Ns was pulling an autorack train west when I left work.Came home and took care of yardwork. One more warmer day then the guessers say Mother Nature will get back to normal.
Thunderstorm just rumbled through, got 2/3" of rain in well under an hour, and it's still raining, albeit not as hard.
Supposed to be warm the rest of the week, maybe I can finish staining the front porch if it doesn't rain.
