Suddenly, within the last week, when I try to log in as usual, I get a formal screen, which asks me to give my email address in full; needs to be typed in, then my password. When I hit the enter button, I then get the original first page which asks me to log in as usual. When I hit that, I get referred again to the "formal" screen and have to type in my email address, then my password. After 3 times in a row of this stuff, I simply quit trying to log in. This morning I went through this same gobbledegook twice before being allowed in. ??????
Dave,
Thanks.
My mind hasn't gone altogether then. At least I remembered you were in Jerusalem....
I have already asked for the number.
My copy arrives in a plastic bag with a printed label sheet about a month after the copy appears in the USA, the last one just before this problem arose...
Foolishly I'm still working as I turn 68 this year. I meant to finish before I turned 63, as my father did but I'm walking distance from the office, the walk is through a forest reserve, so I can scare the occasional kangaroo, the money is good and I've had a full pension paid to me since age 55 (locally this is called double dipping) and the work is interesting.

We may be getting at the root of the problem. I moved to Jerusalem and was a subscrober BEFORE the website was originally set up. In July, I will have been living in Jerusalem for 20 years, moving here when I was 64-1/2, anticipating living off of Social Security at 65, with savings covering the half year until then.
So, my Jerusalem address was already in the Kalmbach data base before the website was set up! And I have never had to go through the routine you are describing.
I did have to insert by special subscriber number designation, which is on the mailing envelope, when I logged in for the first time. (They may have asked for eithr that number OR the mailing address, and possibly I faced the problem you are facing then, and used the mailing code number instead. My memory is not that good to know for certain.)
Instead of working throught this website, why not just email to:
info@trainsmagazine.com. cc:webmaster@trainsmagazine.com
and describe your problem in detail. I think you will get results.
You can quote my analysis and experience if you think it will be helpful.
Did you have to separately log in to see the News Wire?
If so did you use your address?
Did it accept Jerusalem (or Tel Aviv or wherever) in the "State/Province" box?
I don't know my account number and the system won't accept any mailing address without a USA or Canada State or Province.
Before the change, my subscription was recognised automatically but not now.
I do not understand your problelm. I cannot post unless I am logged in. You have been able to post. You should also then be able to visit any part of the website you wish.
I am foratunate that with both Google and Firefox, my login is automatic, or sometimes semi-automatic.
My mailing address is also outside North America. Is it because I am a magazine subscriber and you are not?
I just tried again....
I can't use the "Mailing Address" because my address doesn't include any of the allowable "State/Province" options because I don't live in the USA or Canada. I can't even leave it blank....
I've asked for help from Customer Service but haven't seen any response yet.
How stupid do you have to be to not allow foreign addresses in your logon when you know you offer foreign subscriptions at a substantially higher price?
I had problems with Yahoo and message return, Google, and Firefox. But now all these problems have vanished, and everything seems to go smoothly, so I think the problems have been fixed, and I hope they are fixed for you.
I had some trouble last week getting access to Subscriber Only Content, but that seemed to have been resolved about a day after initial problems. Did have to use the login from the Subscriber Only Content alert to get through, which didn't work the day before.
Running Firefox 45.0.1 on a MacBook running OS X 10.8.5 (waiting for the update to the Trains DVD before going for the latest and greatest OS X version).
richg1998 I use a Linux Operating System with Firefox 45.0 browser in my Pc.

I was accessing the forum with Firefox running on Solaris/Sparc for a number of years...
This all occurred at about the time I was updating a number of passwords to stronger strings, so apparently by doing that, then logging off and logging back in to check that the new password did in fact take, there didn't seem to be any problems with the site. Dumb luck, as they say.
MacOS 10.9.5, Safari 9.1 (9537.86.5.17.4), at least on this machine.
EDIT: Just opened this thread in Internet Explorer, Windows 7 (9.0.24237.1028877) in my Parallels space and logged in fine as well.
I have a landline, a cell phone I never turn on and we are as sophistocated as a worn pair of flipflops. Running windows 8, I think - I never know. Was signed off, signed on and never looked back. And I don't usually have any trouble with the forums, other than some of the personalities.

Deggesty richg1998 I still sign in like I have since I joined some years ago. Not a big deal, at least for me. Rich Whom do you know?

No idea.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
I do wonder about the different experiences of people on the same web site. Must have to do with our different software, servers, etc.
For once, I have had none of the problems complained of by people above. That's one in a row.
We're on Windows 10 now, courtesy of an impulsive wife, who apparently thought she could not resist their constant blandishments, and clicked. Cost us only a visit from Geek Squad and ongoing headaches.
Windows 10 still sucks, but (thank goodness) no more on the Trains site than anywhere else.

I have never seen an organization like Kambach - different forum subject areas - running different forum software, each with it's own quirks for users to find and figure out how to defeat.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Kalmbach's Steve Otte had posted a warning about two systems changes on the Model Railroader portion of the Forums and you might find the discussion there to be useful.

Several people have been having problems of a varied nature.

My name did not come up and Welcome Back and I tried to sign in a number of times with my old name. It kept asking for e-mail and when I gave old password,it was rejected. I finally signed up for a new account with same e-mail and changed password and now I'm connected again with my same name Sunnyland. Not sure what happened, but Trains must have done something to Forum access and wondered if anyone else had the same problems. I had never logged out, so not sure what was going on. Thanks.
