Being able to hit the camera from that distance... has to be worth something. At least bragging rights.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.

anyone know travel time for trains from Baily Yard to Rochelle?

Magic! The feed seems to have returned at 12:57 CST. Appropriately enough, crews are tending to the diamonds.
it was too quick to get a picture, monster hand wipes the lens with cloth... at 0906am
I saw a wiper blade, not a hand and a cloth.
I didn't get a good look, just saw the dark flash as i just logged in. So your probably right.
Just saw a single WP locomotive leading an eastbound double-stack intermodal on the UP--a heritage unit?

Looks as if the wall parralel to the UP main of the old DelMonte building has been removed

Your Google and mine must be different. See if this works; I don't know if these Google direct links will be clickable:
https://www.google.com/search?q=rochelle+del+monte+demolition&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
The first link has a video of an excavator working on the inside of the building, and appears to be dated in mid-December 2015. The direct link to that reference is:

I am not on Facebook, and probably never will be, but I get the video perfectly, and on a public connection, too. (There appears to be other discussion on this museum's Facebook page...)

Cool photo. The detail is startling after viewing the low resolution of the webcam.
FWIW, EMDs seem to be poorly represented on the BNSF trains that I've seen on the cam, compared to the GEs (like the one behind 9063 in the photo).

Aware of that - just that 20 or 30 feet of the UP side wall had been standing there for several weeks and I anticipated that they would be dismantling the BNSF side wall down to the corner so the the corner could provide a level of support for each side.
A lot of folks comment about the poor resolution of the webcam. Compared to its predecessor, it is fantastic. And compared to other rail cams, it's probably on a par.
It's as good, or better, than most traffic cams.
I'm not complaining.

I wasn't complaining. Just noting how neat it was to see some real detail.
I agree that the current cam is far better than the previous one—and the sound is great, too!
I think the picture would be a little clearer if some brave soul would climb up with a bit of Windex and clean off a layer of grime.I'm not endorsing that action for today, though. There's no snow visible in the area, but the wind is kicking up something fierce. That interior shot of the Del Monte building makes it look like the vehicle entrance used to be large enough to accommodate feight cars.

Yes, there is a substantial smudge in the center of the screen. Yesterday I wondered if it were smoke from a fire in the pit, but it's still there today.
All clean and nice looking BNSF tofc going by (I got there late) Plus someone sitting on a bench down below.
Check again. Maybe you sneezed on your monitor?

I see it also. Looks like a cloud of smoke, except it stays the same shape.

This was explained on the thread for the Rochelle webcam. Yes, it does need a cleaning--apparently a nice BNSF GE unit targeted the lens with a glop of semi-solid exhaust particulate (someone saw it happen). It would involve climbing up there (not easy under the best of conditions--and it's been windy, if not otherwise nasty, over the week since it happened).
CShaveRR...a glop of semi-solid exhaust particulate...
ALCO snot lives!
rdamon Is that a new port-a-potty behind the UP signal box on the far right side?
Looks like it...
Snow dusted & threatening clouds
Could that be an indication that some serious signal work is about to begin here, that would take a lot of people being here for a while...somehing like a cutover of the new signals?
Just logged on, and what do I see but a man in dark clothes and a bag racing across both sets of tracks, then disappearing off to the left. A burglar?
Wait—now here's the local with a couple of center-beam flatcars; stopped at the switch, now heading up the siding. Could that fellow have had something to do with that?
Interestingly, an easbound UP intermodal stopped at the signals before the diamonds, waited until the local went up the siding and just started across. Must have gotten a stop signal until the switch was thrown.
Moderators: There's still a smudge just left of center in the cam.
