Having the same issue with my iPad. I get a still image and a button but the button does nothing. I checked and my software is up to date. This is a recent problem. The Roanoke cam works fine as well as other railfan webcams I frequent.

I too, have been experiencing random freezes of the image and a black screen.
The "jumpiness" makes it hard to measure the speeds of the trains. I time how long it takes for a car to pass a landmark (utility pole or the edge of the screen) and knowing the length of any particular car I can calculate the speed, but when the image freezes and then jumps ahead I can miss either end of the car passing the landmark.
Windows 10 and IE-11.
There may be many servers (computers) in the path between the camera and the viewer's computer that can be having trouble keeping up with the video stream. Each viewer may be seeing the video through a different path and thus may or may not experience the problems. Even next door neighbors could be viewing the scene via different internet paths.

As I recall, iPads have an issue with Flash, and the webcam uses Flash. (One of the standard instructions we have for people with issues with the webcam is to ask them to be sure they're running the latest version of Flash.) I'm not sure this is a solveable problem for an iPad, but I'll ask.Also, I'm told that the webcam does not like the Firefox browser, so that's another issue to be aware of.

The Firefox/Flash issue was resolved a few years ago. I'm running Firefox and have no problem viewing.

I'm running Firefox on Windows 7 and it is mostly working. There were some issues on either Tues. or Wed., but so far today everything is smooth. The jerkiness some have mentioned comes and goes here.
Just saw what I am beginning to call the 1700 white hopper train. It is an EB UP local made up of white covered hoppers and sometimes other cars as well. It really has held to its' schedule for two or three weeks now. It is powered by one of what we were calling the antque trio on the EB point, and what I think are two SD40-2's, or whatever UP calls them.
Now in a couple of hours the same three units, unturned, will come back west with more white covered hoppers, but I haven't figured out that schedule yet.

I am going to delay supper a bit for the next few days and try to get a handle on this.
I like watching the camera to see what freight goes by when, maybe moreso that seeing the equipment used to move it. Seeing, new to me, locos and cars is always good too though.

I didn't see the train. However, if it was reefers, UP often sets out the reefers to the industry to the east of town. I've seen that happen while at Rochelle. UP will leave most of the consist west of town and pull reefers to the east and drop them at the siding east of town. They will, then, return to the their train to the west and pull it eastbound.

It is done that way to keep from blocking road crossings!

I think this local is the LPG04. I don't know where it originates, but they usually travel to/from Nelson, the location of a small yard and the connection to the Peoria subdivision. The inbound train pulls east to clear a switch connecting to tracks owned by the City of Rochelle, operated by contract terminal switching company Burlington Junction Railway; the switch location is called "Cold Storage".
There is a sand plant south of town on the City tracks. There is a very large number of covered hoppers in and out there. Use to get sand in by truck only, now some inbound by hopper. All outgoing by rail.

Thanks for that info, and thanks to DennisHeld for the info about the white reefers. Seeing the old units and the hoppers is what caught my attention originaly, but reefers are quite common as well.
I think we have this mystery under control.

The used car lot, I have seen him out with a gun shooting towards the diamond, not sure what he is shooting at. With all the flags and stuff, I asume he has a vedetta with birds.

I noticed on the my line-up the train I tentatively line up for was near Rochelle. I went to the webcam to see if I could catch it. With the sun setting almost directly in front of the camera, you could see the strands of the web catch the sunlight.
There was a westbound manifest stopping over the diamond. From the DP on the rear, it was the one I was looking for. I had the sound turned on. I could hear the air coming back through the train line as the brakes released. When the engineer whistled off (two blasts on the horn) my cat, sleeping on the windowsill next to the computer, heard it and looked up.

That's a local or a switch move. The GP15 has ditch lights on and neither engine is DP capable.
I caught them about an hour later headed WB on #2- funny thing is they evidently had switched the engines around, because the tagged unit was again leading. Short hood forward this time...
