Good Morning.

Today I will be rather busy with more files and hopefully some train room time later on...

Fishing - one, almost 2.  Trains - lots!

Saw the Boeing train heading to St Joe.  It was about 7 planes long, with boxes, but was empty.  Then they attached a freight train that had to be about 2 states long!  I think we saw everything on there but autoracks and stacks.  I wonder if this was a decision in the yard that - well, since you have to take the Boeing train back empty, might as well gather up all the empties around the yard and send them home, too.

Good Afternoon

A nice cool day here, sunny out but the air has a certain nip to it...

Got a fair chunk of work done today on those files but I found more that needed some work done on them...mmmm...wonder where the fellow who was responsible for this went...mmmm

Anyhow...got home in reasonable time to have some train time tonight...so I'm going off to do just that....

More free beer in Golden/ Wheat Ridge tonite - another trucker lays a semi over on a ramp despite all the warning signs. Strange way to water the grass. (We may have a rival to Joe's viaduct.)

Packed the soap to go east. Figures, now comes the monsoon season rains in overly dry Colorado.

evening

busy day today. Went out to some garage sales. Matt found some trains. I found some picture frames. Best 2 dollars I spent. We took a lunch break and saw CSX run a mixed freight with some beat up boxcars on the end of the train. We didn't see a go home for good sticker on them. Also the siding at work is clear as NS has moved the crane and 2 southern gons elsewhere.Time to just stay home and relax. Mother nature might give us some more rain overnight.

stay safe

Good Morning

Seems to be cooler for today but with those ol' t'underin'boomers ever present..in fact, one just came through not too long ago.

Well, considering that I already am doing a show tonight we will be down at Hawk Rocks The Park ( a local rock festival for charity) it looks to be something of a longish kind of day for us'uns  ::)....no traintime today by the looks of things...  (:))

Have a good day!!!

BOC - I watched trains for you.  It was good.  Both freight and coal.  Lots of each.  And nice weather, to boot.

I am pleased!

Rain here last night, fortunately we were done switching on the railroad.  It just made for a wet drive home.

Apparently the rain didn't deter the fireworks at Harborfest in Oswego, and the weather may have helped carry the sound across the lake (Ontario) some 30-40 miles to my house...

Looks like a decent day, with a chance of showers.  Have to clean out the truck so it can go to the body shop tomorrow for a new door and other dent removal.

Got two spare batteries for my drone - now I can fly for a half hour at a time (with time out for battery changes).

Time to get on with the day's activities.

Shameless plug - railfan weekend on the Adirondack Scenic next weekend in Thendara - vintage equipment and photo shoots on the schedula.

Took the truck to the body shop this morning - weather didn't look bad and there wasn't anything significant on the radar, so I loaded the mountain bike up on the truck for the 7 mile pedal home.  Didn't bring the rain jacket.  So.....

Turns out the local NWS radar is on the fritz.  Should have brought the rain jacket.

The rest of the day has been fine.  A little thunderbumper just rolled through, though.  No big deal.

Haven't eaten at a Big Boy in ages.  I don't think there have ever been any in the area, and the one in the old home town closed ages ago.

I think the St Lawrence Sub might be able to handle a Big Boy, but I know our line wouldn't.  I suspect our 5.5 degree curves would give it trouble (or it would give our 5.5 degree curves trouble...)  I seriously doubt that the Central ran anything bigger than a Prairie on our line.

Five Guys recently moved into our area.  The food is decent, but the atmosphere is LOUD.  I found the fries to be greasy as well.

A similar outfit, Wayback Jakes, opened up on the food court at the mall.  I rather like it there.  You can enjoy a meal and people-watch, too.

Sun's out today.  Time for some outdoor chores.

We have In 'N Out and Smash Burgers here; I have not tried either one. Does In 'N Out have tables, or do you go in, get what you want and go out to eat? I'm not sure what is so special about smashing the burgers.

Larry's comment about noise reminded me of one sea food chain around here, Joe's Crab Shack. It was about the noisiest place I ever ate in.

And, on the subject of not-so-good places, I do not remember just which one it was, but my group at work went there to give one of us who was retiring a dinner, and I think that two or three cooks thought that the beef did not have enough salt.

The best fries I ever had was in a café in Reform, Alabama. I ate lunch there quite often before Ricki and I married. One day there were no frozen packaged fries available, so the proprietress cut a potato up and fried it for me--and she did that for me ever afterwards.

Lows about seventy, and highs about ninety this week, with spots of rain around the state.

Johnny - In and Out used to be strictly in California.  Since Driver is from there, when we took a trip back there, he introduced me.  Love at first bite.  Their secret is fresh.  Fresh everything.  Limited menu, but if you are a food taster like I am, you will enjoy it!  They cut/prepared/ground everything themselves.  Hope that hasn't changed!

Seems like most restaurants today wouldn't know good food/atmosphere/customer service!

There are a couple of places in Old Forge that do that on a regular basis, usually without peeling them first.   At one diner the cutter was right in view of the counter - you could watch your fries from potato to plate.

Right out of high school I worked at a concession stand in a park.  One of the boy's duties was to peel and cut the fries.  Peeling was done in a drum with a rotating bottom and lots of rough surfaces.  The slicing was done with a machine that pushed the spuds against blades as it rotated.   The cut fries went into a big basket that usually sat in water until they were needed, at which time the basket was placed on a cart to be taken to the front.

Every now and then someone would forget they had potatoes "peeling" and end up with an empty drum...

The girls worked the counter - all the cooking, etc.

Good Evening...

Got the bass redone, needed better pickups and restrung as well...thing is an 8 stringer so it can be a bit more moolah to redo....aaaarrgh.  :-/

I also managed to get in some time to run some trains around and, believe it or not, get into planning a garden RR set up....

On the topic of restaurants, Fritzies up here does everything fresh..their supplies come from local producers, or else from as local as one can get around here...their fries are made right in front of you...fresh cut....good stuff!

Good Morning

Everything is dull here...we seemed to have found another dull bucket for our viewing pleasure here...

Today will be another one of those file work days...they found a rat's nest that needed cleaning out ...apparently...

Later on I may see about picking up some books on garden railroading and see what kind of landscaping mayhem we will need to do here...

Breakfast cart at the ready!!
