OK...did we get a few showers here...all of 5" on the rain gauge here and TO got hammered...flash flooding all over the place. Pedi done a couple of days ago. This will be clean teeth and mess up hairdo. She seems to think that if she doesn't completely mess up the top of your head, it isn't a good cleaning.

6:30 a fishing this morning - 3 nice bass; one about 2 pounds. Driver was fishing off "balcony" they installed to get you out over the water a little and an older lady was there all by herself fishing. Said she was fishing for bluegill. Right on! Women can fish alone and get up at dark-30 to do it, too! I applaud her!

Not too bad today - warm and a tad humid, but not stifling. Potential for rain and thunderboomers, but NWS seems to be having trouble keeping the local WSR-88D (NEXRAD) on the air, so our "eyes" are a bit limited.

The Mohawk valley is still under the gun - Utica is dealing with the Mohawk River right at flood stage, and the area got significant rain again last night. This is at Little Falls within the past few days - got the email Saturday but there was no date given. There's a slight difference between that and normal (on the right).

I did get to the mall this afternoon..even if a little on the wet side...thought I could have used a wetsuit though...
Then, got home a ran some trains around...and watched a few videos as well...a good evening to be had...

Peace be with ye. 84 and clear in Carolina this evening. For the past 2 days, we have had absolutely no rain whatsoever. It has been nice.
I am still using a loaner computer so am still limited In what I am able to do.

muggy this morning.more pop up thunderstorms today.Getting ready for Church.Breakfast is all set.Back to work tonight.
Well, three days on the railroad (conductor, engineer, conductor). I think most everyone had a good time. A little damp yesterday. Actually, it rained so hard during one shower that I could hardly see down the track. Lots of puddles and ponding after that one (not to mention a fair amount of lightning, not a popular thing at the largest attraction in the area - a water park).
The Moose River has been running consistently high, so much so that the canoe outfitter we work with decided not to send anyone out today. Several folks have had trouble with the high water on the river, dumping boats, etc.
Taking Sunday off.
HOS - FRA is getting fussy about ours. Used to be we'd maybe clean up the train after we "officially" signed off (maybe after supper, or the like). Now that's considered "co-mingled service." Same with, say, working on next month's schedule before or after going officially "on duty."
Funny thing about that is that I can vacuum my house and it doesn't matter. If I vacuum a railcar, it's co-mingled service... Sheesh.
Good Saturday evening everyone. Been a while since I've been able to get on the computer and therefore, come in to see everyone.
Things are o.k., could be better, though. Tired of all the rain: does not help my arthritis at all. Would like to keep these cool temps, but don't really like the forecast of temps going back up to upper 80s plus next week.
Our Saturday Night Pizza Fest is now on the warmer bar: all the regular options, from anchovie to supreme; and dessert pizzas (apple, cherry, raspberry, peach and strawberry.

I have been busier than a one armed paper hanger this past few days. This is the first time I have had a chance to take more than a brief look at the forum.
There was a thunderstorm last night which created flooding in an area just east of me, that had been evacuated just two weeks ago. No evacuation this time, but a lot more damage for folks who didn't need any more of it. Also, the city had to put more of that smelly water treatment into the lines again. Oh joy.
59° and sunny, with no Humidex problem. But, we have a Weather Watch for more thundershowers tonight. We are in one of those cycles where as soon as it gets a bit warm all of the standing water around here starts to evaporate and that triggers a new round of thunderstorms. The storms last night were very localized, so I hope any storms tonight are localized somewhere else.

yes mookie it does flood during heavy rain. The original cost estimate rose after more problems were found with the project. Going to be fun to watch the red tape fly.
PUCO will have a field day with who/whom ever welched on this one. They say who pays for what percent of the original estimated cost.

This particular "reading" has been the opening for Thunder Over Louisville for Several years, I believe the cut that they use has Walter Cronkite's voice narrating it. It was a quiet day at our house yesterday. We did have rain early in the morning, before I woke. Katie asked me if the thunder woke me (it woke both her and Jackie)--and I told her that I did not hear it.
This morning, I saw two quail families as I was out walking. The chicks were old enough to fly, and I enjoyed watching all the birds as they walked, ran, and flew.
From time to time, we will see a hummingbird making use of their feeder on Katie's deck, and quite a variety use the feeders that are against the back fence. Squirrels continually try to use them, but they are unsuccessful. Katie saw an evening grosbeak recently, and hopes to see such again.
Our lows are now about 70, and our highs are in the nineties. I just noticed that the temperature by my desk is close to 80, but I am not uncomfortable.

I'm going to try to get some more work done in that Lair of Doom...we ended up getting another big 25 cubic yard bin to throw 'stuff' in..seems a lot of 'stuff' keeps showing up...I just hope there is no reverse black hole in there Anyhoooo...have a good one!!

Yeah Randy, the new "rules" are going to be a problem for a while until one gets the hang of it all. Now I am running casual for a friend who has run out of hours and miles. Abq . is where the run ends . It starts at Phx. Some times it is hard to get past Little America at Flg. toward the end of the week without stopping. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down . I resembled that remark! My last job before joining CNW was as a mild-mannered reporter for a metropolitan daily newspaper...typing my copy out on an ancient manual typewriter, always triple-spaced on sheets of newsprint.

Will be 2,000 miles in four days, and a 3,000 mile week, for once. Not sure what is going on at the main office, but it has not been good. The new Hours of Service rules that started the first of this month won't help much, either.....

BC - that's what it was! Ergonomically correct and looking like something that would take me all day to do what I can do in a matter of minutes. My ergo never hurt, and for about 8 hours a day - I typed. Our receptionist did what they are hired to do - answer phone lines. She did very little typing. Never did figure that out.
